crusian Posted December 25, 2024 Report Posted December 25, 2024 Hi Everyone I saw some Merino Wool Socks in the sale , but when I started to check on the internet I read about Alpaca Socks . What do people recommend please ? . 😃 Quote
emmcee Posted December 26, 2024 Report Posted December 26, 2024 Can't comment on the Alpaca socks but I do have merino wool socks and think they are excellent. Golden Paws and crusian 2 Quote
Golden Paws Posted December 26, 2024 Report Posted December 26, 2024 I have several pairs of merino socks for work and fishing and they are good. Might be slightly pricey compared to bog standard socks but they are good and last a long time. crusian 1 Quote

elmoputney Posted December 26, 2024 Report Posted December 26, 2024 Alpaca my bags 😂 Merino are good, if you go in B and M they also do some socks which are pretty great, called hot feet or something they are labelled work socks, really thick and about a fiver a pair. crusian 1 Quote

salokcinnodrog Posted December 27, 2024 Report Posted December 27, 2024 I'm in the Merino wool socks group. Merino wool even when wet insulates you and keeps warm. One thing I do do is wash by hand rather than stick through the washing machine. crusian 1 Quote
Carpbell3 Posted December 27, 2024 Report Posted December 27, 2024 No such thing they all get wet, I did once get offered a set of seal skinz when buying my soft shell kit, 40 quid...I'll pass mate. Quote

B B Posted December 28, 2024 Report Posted December 28, 2024 I can’t go down the road of Merino socks, my feet would rip them apart, picture the bark of a very old oak tree 🤔 that’s what the soles of my feet look like. Just a bit lazy looking after them I get the black and decker sander out now and then when they get really bad. crusian, jules007, commonly and 1 other 4 Quote

Well you won't be needing to buy any for a few years... 5 hours ago, elmoputney said: Good tip my Merino ones seem to have shrunk a bit in the wash Washing them in the machine tends to tighten the fibres up, so they actually don't insulate as well because they can't trap so much air. crusian and elmoputney 2 Quote

Look after your feet mate, they do a lot of work keeping you on the road, you wouldn't drive a car with bald tyres, keep that for your head 😂 crusian 1 Quote
yonny Posted 6 hours ago Report Posted 6 hours ago I just use the British Army ECW socks. Dead cheap, dead warm, last forever. Although I must say that the best thing for keeping feet warm is keeping your legs warm. A decent pair of thermal trousers keeps the warm blood circulating and the feet toasty. commonly and ouchthathurt 2 Quote
