  5. here is another vote for Terry Hearns books, superb read
  6. Really sad news, only found out from a post by Frank Warwick, Marsh is a legend in carp fishing, and a right nice helpful fella
  7. Martin, i know your on the pond for a couple of days, hope you manage to pull a fish or 2 mate
  8. Hi Guys, hope your all okay, its been a while, i am still alive, been very busy with work, moving house getting divorced, planning a new marriage, getting into flying Multi rotors, and various other stuff, i am starting to feel the itch to go fishing again, my wonderful new lass (of 4 years) would be happy to sit at a lake and read her books and enjoy the sun so i think she would come with me. I lost my membership on Tolson angling club when i moved but in fairness i had done the place to death, so i am toying with going back to Brookfoot lake, but just doing the odd day session with one carp rod and one float rod, i have got rid of my bivvy and bedchair, any way will post up if this all happens
  9. would love to be out, with the telescope filming but full cloud and rain
  10. I admire your stamina for keeping at the crayfish lake, is it nazing
  11. A few years back i used to fish this place when you could night fish it, then the club made a few changes and banned night fishing so i had to pull out.......has any one got any recent pictures showing what the club did to the place
  12. Need to do mine but waiting till i move to my new house in a few weeks time
  13. I would suggest a 10ft spinning rod, in 2 piece its 5ft long and would strap to a bike okay, if you can get them look out for a Mitchel 410a reels, i have a nice pair of them but rarely use them now
  14. I have pretty well made up my mind, it will be brookfoot lake, also the club has some river and canal fishing, and the lake is just so nice, will get my membership start of 2015
  15. Just need to find water for next season, looked at Bradford no 1 but bit pricey, may go back to Brookfoot lake on Brighouse angling, been there and done it but brookfoot is a nice place
  16. Hi all, some may have noticed i have not been about much for a long time, i have been logging it, just not had much to post about as i have not wet a line for about 18 months, as happens to us i sort of lost my mojo after spending 2 seasons chasing a very large common down in the nene valley, i ended up pulling of the lake when they stopped night fishing, it was to far to go just to fish days only, since then i have not been able to find a water i want to be at. I have to say i feel a spark of interest flaring up, however i dont see me going back to bivvy/bite alarms/sessions, so i am going to look for a water that i can fish old school with a float or ledger set up days only
  17. I fished it a couple of years ago, plenty of carp, not sure what size they go to, maybe 20lb, can be a bit snaggy, but i had a few fish out and lost a few due to hook pulls, plus some good cats in there, nice lake to fish
  18. Its a past time, nothing but. Its some thing we do to while away the time in peaceful surroundings
  19. Another vote for daiwa black widow rods, this will leave you a little more toward reels, shimano are good
  20. Good luck, hope you had a good session
  21. Excellent, thanks for sharing, as welder says, we all love the Kingfisher
  22. I think i might have a dabble on the A1 pits later this year, been meaning to fish this venue a while now, can any one give any info on this place, i quite fancy the second largest pit, is this a good carp lake, and what size do the carp run to
  23. for me it has to be "the source", it smells proper carp bait, tastes like poo though!
  24. I have done a fair bit of perch angling, leading to the capture of a 4 1/2 lb specimen, maggots, grubs and worms are best as perch "go for movement" also small rapala lures with a little bit of red wool can work, as can livebaiting over as bed of maggots
  25. I would love to catch a record Perch, my best ever is a fish of near 4 1/2 pounds from my local pond, i hope to have a try at these lovely fish again this year, i have caught an 11 pound bream, this is equal to the record bream when i was a kid, but like others have posted, i dont know what the record carp stands at last i heard it was two tone, but that was a few years back
