  1. try fishing with an inline lead and a really long rig, say about 18 inches the lead will pull into the silt but hook bait will sit on top if you use a nugget of foam on the hook
  2. is there really any need to use the chod? just asking
  3. looks pretty good, agree about the bivvy
  4. Hi all, can any one recommend a day ticket lake to bivvy up for a couple of days around stroud as my daughter wants to go visiting a friend and i said i would drive her down if i can find a lake to stop at! dont want horse shoe just a nice quiet little place with the chance of a few nice carp thanks in advance
  5. welcome, try broadlands just of M27 near romsey
  6. go to bluebell, fish main lake with a snowman bait/rig, safer at bluebell and good chance if you get a run it will be a decent fish, there you go job done !
  7. proper fishing mate well pleased for you, as you work hard at your carpin, and just goes to prove what a good water that is, get some fishy pics on mate in june catch reports
  8. im sure graham at sapphire would allow this, but might be worth looking for a local club then just pay yearly membership
  9. try doing a search on here for chod rigs, there is hundreds of threads
  10. if you scroll through this thread you will see the rig marole leader i use, i put shrink tube at the points i want the beads as leader is very thin http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=44395&highlight=

    Chod rig

Do you need to use a chod rig? what type of lake bed will you be fishing over? If you find your self using leadcore, google terry hearns video on you tube or on esp website! if you go for the much safer option of using a synthetic leader you can use a piece of shrink tube where the bead sits, then slide bead onto shrink tube so that it will still pull free, but best advice would be to rethink your rig and go with a SAFE rig
  12. Think you will find esp hooks pretty strong, maybe the kamasin ones are a bit thinner
  13. yep, marsh runs a good set up down there, i did easter weekend
  14. try to get on the high number pegs 8-12 dont be put of by the rail way line, the trains are very considerate! some nice fish in there and lots of small to medium cats, if you fish any fish based bait you will more than likely get a cat! the breakfast is a belter for a fiver, good luck
  15. please stay away from leadcore, the very fact that a huge amount of lake owners have banned it from their waters tells a tale in itself try tungsten tubing or synthetic leaders
  16. Linear prefer credit or debit card payment: they already have the facility to take bookings, by using this method they would never have anglers turning up and not able to get on. I was told we would be able to get on, we made a 170 mile journey to find clearly we could not get on. As for other fisheries being as busy, we decided to make a call to marsh pratley on orchid, he was very helpful, told us just how it was at his lakes and got us on a couple of pegs next to each other. like i said, i wont be going back, and i wont be driving silly miles again to get on "premier" carp waters, will stick in the yorkshire area
  17. Well, where do i start! first of all i must stress that this post is not a which hunt for linear, but they really need to change the way they take anglers on a first come first served basis I rang the bailiff phone line on monday and explained, that a party of four were coming down from up north, asked if we would get on, i was told no problem, but ring again thursday afternoon for a better idea, i rang back and again i was told it was busy but we would get on the lakes, but might not be first choice of lake, fair enough. We arrived at 08.30 friday morning, the sight that greeted us was akin to glastonbury, but bivvies instead of festival tents We drove and walked around all the lakes and found one peg on st johns and one on hardwick, we were not splitting up onto different lakes and needed at least 3 pegs. I rang the main man again and i was told some pegs were due to vacate later in the day, but more and more carpers were arriving all the time, anglers were already hanging about in cars waiting to see what pegs might or might not vacate, we decided not worth waiting on the hope of getting on as most if not all anglers would be there for the weekend Linear website claim they never turn anglers away, surely it must be time they operated a booking system Thats my moan over, 3 years ago i vowed never to go back, needless to say this time i mean it, i wont be fishing there ever again
  18. well i have all my particles sorted just getting tackle fettled and hoping my bivvy fits in my little car only a few days to go
  19. have a look at broadlands lake in southampton, google it, very pretty with some great carp, i did a week on it a few years back and really enjoyed it
  20. where abouts in the country are you, that will help to suggest a decent venue
  21. on brasenose the fish patrol in fair size shoals, get some particles in to hold them and you should get on them! like on any water they might be out to the middle or close in, you will need to watch for them, fish location
  22. hi kev, linear is a well run fishery, a lot of folk try for st johns due to the larger fish but it tends to be very busy, lots of angling pressure. i will be fishing on brasenose 1 over the easter weekend, which lake are you thinking of
  23. seem to remember one is silvermere, cant remember other, one is syndi other day ticket..........i think
