Here is my latest purchase i scored this haul of 9 in number vintage strikeright centrepin reels all in original box`s some have paperwork in box 7 of them look as new the other 2 are in nice used condition, i cant say what i payed for this job lot but it was a very keen price indeed but i wont be keeping them as i do see a rather nice profit from them that will help offset some of the money i have spent this last few months

So the Carp at the lake im fishing are just not playing ball, oxygen levels are low in all 3 lakes, so for a while im gonna dabble on the canal, we are lucky to have a private peg only accessible from the main lake complex so its on opposite side to towpath, seems Perch can go to over 3lb, also carp in canal so gonna put a hair rig boilie out for Carp and then float fish for Perch

Ha ha your getting these as well, i quite like them

the gopro or action camera can send live video using a transmitter called a VTX from RC FPV so live view real time to a small colour monitor. Im tempted to get one of the super cheap bait boats and fit a clear panel in the hull to mount live view action cam to

NGT centrepin reel arrived today paid £29 new and have to say it is sweet, spins for ages and silky smooth, loaded it up with 10lb Sensor clear mono will be used for carp in small pond and on canal

You could do a set of 3 for about £100 but you would be buying each reel separate on ebay also you need to make sure bail arm is healthy and working as it should, but they are easy to service and spares are still about, of course it was the 300 that Richard Walker caught the 44lb record carp

Any one on here use old school gear, i had a rummage in the loft and got my old Mitchell 410A reels down, i was expecting them to have suffered being stored for so long, but to my surprise they work sweet and smooth and the overall condition is way better then i hoped, these reels along with the older 300 reels were the start of carp fishing reels, and this pair are lovely to say they are close to 50 years old

centre pin reels for carp?

The pins are multiplying, the new NGT is now on its way so i will have a new modern reel, the nice little Belaco is now spinning very smoothly and loaded up with 100m of 4lb line, i also dropped on a nice deal for a 4" strike right at sensible money this morning on ebay this looks to be in near superb condition, Strike rights if shown a little love and care seem to be very reliable, sturdy reels, cant rule out that the collection may still grow -

Good info, will re lube it with a drop of oil, i may end up getting another vintage pin at some point, will need to be near mint condition and a good make but not a super expensive one -
I edited it for you, interesting video the small rodent can be retrieved in a very enticing manner on the surface

centre pin reels for carp?

Here is one of my old pins, a 3 1/4 inch Belaco, it was a bit stiff but a quick strip and clean, some light grease and its much better, now a usable reel, might load it up with some 4lb strain mono to use for roach/chub -
For many years i was completely against bait boats but yes they do have there uses and place, i dont see me getting one as i can still cast pretty accurate and cant afford one with sonar/gps, though i have looked at the really cheap basic boat for under £100 that actually gets pretty good reviews.....still not getting one though and thats coming from an RC guru (drones, fixed wing planes and rc cars/crawlers)

Another big haul for me, a pair of Wychwood Riot 9ft 2.75 rods (great price) so my new 12ft Diawa rods are to be sold also from another shop i got the last kg of Crave shelflife, a second tub of Crave wafters, some Fox hooks just to try, a jar of Tiger nuts and a stalkers unhooking mat

centre pin reels for carp?
jules007 replied to jules007's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
I just placed an order for the NGT black centre pin and some 10lb diawa sensor clear line, so should have it by end of week, paired up with the Diawa proteus 10ft spinning rod (cork butt) should make a nice float rig for carp in the small lake and maybe stalk a few out of margins in specimen lake -
centre pin reels for carp?
jules007 replied to jules007's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
Nice and thanks for commenting, i do still own a strikright hydraflow but its been badly stored and not really usable now, i see NGT do a brand new pin for under £40, this would be used on Diawa proteus 10ft spinning rod, will keep looking and see what turns up -
The "Dreaded" new reels question.......on a budget
jules007 replied to jules007's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
Im looking at reels very tempted to get a centre pin for float and stalking but a nice fixed spool or freespool might be the way forward -
