  1. Got a 30cm stainless buzz bar so i can splay the rod tips out, wont put any more fish on the bank, but i like the presentation, also got an NGT 5litre bait bucket
  2. I did enjoy the new Hearn video, i do get what you guys are saying, but im glad we still getting new content from the legend
  3. got a few pairs for xmas from good lady will see how they pan out
  4. Yeah seems very good kit, funny enough i have ordered it in 12lb BS as tackle box claim it has a real BS of around 18lb, i would of used the NGT camo 18lb as it has a low diameter but its not abrasion resistant at all unlike Hydro tuff, also i wanted to keep line diameter as low as sensible as i now fish this lovely snaggy lake pretty close in
  5. As i have a pair of new reels on the way seems wrong to load cheap line on them so as im mot casting any big distance and the lake is a hell hole of snags makes sense to get a spool of Hydrotuff and just go for a decent line from the start
  6. Got a set of bobbins turn up today not branded but look okay also a new DNA Beanie unhooking mat arrived scored it new on fleabay for £12 plus a bit of post and its mint, just perfect
  7. Cant miss out on "Old friends" a true classic video
  8. Cheers framey, i have found it to be decent kit at sensible money, in some ways i dont want to retire my old 850`s got a fair bit of history in those reels, so it only seems right to at least stick with same brand
  9. I finally made the decision DAM have been very good for me, so gone for these 8000 pit reels, TBH they should see my carp fishing days out https://www.gerrysfishing.com/product/quick-darkside-4-8000s-carp-reel/
  10. Found a DAM quick black 4 8000 at a very good price £36 very tempting to stick with this brand as they have been good
  11. Im back at this search for a couple of reels, seems every time i find a reel that may be right, its out of stock, i am only looking at new as my very old DAM quick 850`s are looking right scruffy.....but they still work even though getting badly corroded now, doing great for 18 years old, i do wonder if shimano reels would still be going strong at this age and never been opened up to service
  12. fair to say progress has been good, infact this new split can custom rod is finished but i have to wait till varnish is fully dry before i get it, about a week, it looks superb and cant wait to fish with it on its namesake water
  13. I use full Solar stainless kit both buzz bars are equal but at some point might look for a wider front
  14. Im half with you on that, i find myself thinking i would like a wider front so tips are splayed out, but im tight so wont do it
  15. go to your local poundland type shop and look at the low cost easy ready glass`s, i were varifocals but prefer reader glass`s for close up stuff try a pair and pick up a product with small print on label and just try different strength till it seems nice and right, and yes uncoated braid has a mind of its own
  16. Have to say im not all that bothered for using them, prefer to use a pin for float fishing where possible, but good advice on the chenille, in a previous post on this thread with the carp and the speedia has the cane rod been restored by Rod Storey< he is the fine gent building my 1lb 2oz cane rod
  17. I used one of my old 410A reels other week have to say did not enjoy it, line went behind bail plate i think my pair will be looking for a new home at some point
  18. Very nice, lovely old school kit
  19. Here is a teaser for the new split cane rod that is being built for me, hoping to have it by xmas, this is the near finished handle
  20. I tried a pod a good few years ago and just did not get on with it so now use Solar bank sticks with 2 rod cross bars, plain and simple it works for me
  21. lovely fish i never have tired of catching Perch and pleased to say my local fishery has just stocked an additional 150 Perch, they should grow quick on all the fry and small silver fish to go at
  22. So having returned to carp fishing and finding my old rods were not up to job, i got Diawa 12ft rods but soon found them a bit long for the water i am fishing a lot of pegs have plenty of tree`s over hanging, so bought Wychwood 9ft 2.75 rods and sold the as new Diawa rods for what i paid
  23. Is this fish from the RH stables ha ha ha
  24. In a few weeks time i should have a rod shot with a difference, i commissioned a gentleman to build me a split can 1lb 2oz avon rod
  25. This forced weight gain is just wrong, just a money making venture to put monster carp into lakes to pull the paying angler into trying for them, its not for me, i would take 30lb proper fish any day
