  1. welcome mate, stick to the way your doing it only use floss for certain pop up rigs
  2. welcome to the forum no shortage of waters in your area but do a little research and try for a "runs water" nothing worse than freezing in the winter and getting no action
  3. im looking into this as a project but not looking good and i`ve not had much time to try much but watch this space
  4. Jong, welcome to the forum, i cant help you with baden hall but with a little PATIENCE a few members will be able to help with your request but in the meantime use the search facility you will find most if not all members of this forum are helpful and will do so if they have the knowledge and time to post best wishes for the festive period[/b]
  5. use the search mate, few results on there, www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=33846&highlight=anglers+paradise
  6. Hi all, any one fished fox earth near sudbury, if so whats the general opinion thinking i might have a dabble in the new year
  7. Hi tony and welcome to the forum, dont know the lake myself but im sure a few people will help you out over next few days
  8. Take a sack of vitalin and a couple of tubs of prepared hemp, then you could spod out a bed of particles and fish your hook bait on it, just an idea
  9. i was going to suggest cuttle mill but no night fishing and a bit pricey
  10. Hi spoon, if you do a search on here you will find a lot of rigs to have a play with but my advice is just use a simple no knot hair rig with an inline or running lead, these set ups will always be effective
  11. Ben, thank you for taking the time to join the forum and to put some of the issuse`s right, in carp angling forums we often only get the negative side of a story, so its always a good thing to have a fishery owner/ manager join in.
  12. in this situation i would use running lead with slack line, 6 inch flourocarbon rig with raptor hook (they are so sharp) and criticcally balanced pop up, shot just under the bait. This rig should not tangle, the balanced pop up should allow a firm take, and running lead will give good bite detection, all being well
  13. having re read the above post i agree about "unsafe " angling if an angler allows a carp to go into snags with out the right end tackle and has to pull for a break that could leave a fish tethered, well said
  14. would be a good idea for the lake owner to amend the website with regard benson and the creature
  15. 2 waters i fish both reduce price for wnter, sapphire and cellers clough very fair of them
  16. With regard to rib being a harder water, i think a good few anglers would want to go to a hard water, a place that gives a challenge, if you have been fishing a runs water, and catching lots of hungry low doubles, then a water with bigger fish that are a challenge could be sensible move. look at some of the waters terry hearn fished, big pits with as little as ten or so fish
  17. nice one matey, found it, just the one i was looking for, cheers for that
  18. cheers mate but no its not that one, i saw it in a mag years back it involves pushing mainline into hollow of lead core and out of side wall will have to play around with it till i get it right
  19. hi all, can some one remind me how to tie a snake knot, used for joining mainline to hollow leader as i want to do some tests to see if lead core can be used safely (not testing it in water)
  20. 2 examples of "safe" set ups are the inline lead and free running lead, these should always discarge the lead in the event of a line break. lead core can and does kink if that happens the lead wont drop of so a fish will be towing leader, rig and lead ! where fish welfare is concerned, the more "risks" you remove, the better for the fish and sport in general
  21. Very well said nick, i stopped using it after reading jemsue`s comments , it was the FACT that it can kink that made me take stock, i have never lost a lead core but wont take the risk of it, and to be honest a leader is not neccessary in 99% of my fishing , so i fish mainline straight to the rig, and im happy that fish welfare is maintained .
  22. you know but you use it you have to ask a lot of questions that lead us to believe you need a lot of help but yet risk using leadcore which you probably dont know how to use in a safe manner (which there aint really a safe enough way of using it) why risk it? if you must use a leader of some sort then why not just use tubing? i used to splice my own leadcore leaders and really do my best to make sure they were safe but i will not use them at all now, and also most decent carp waters dont allow them
  23. Stay away from lead core, it can be a fish killer !!
  24. if i remember right, the deepest area is to the right if you have the ticket/tackle office to your back or simply put, the western end of the lake
  25. i have fished it, its a lovely lake but dont just plonk into a swim on some ones recommendation have a look around see if you can spot any fish, carp alley can be worth a try but now its cold the fish might be in the deeper water
