  1. the chod/silt rig can be used for bottom baits, even the great man himself (TH) recons it can be used for bottom or pop up bait, however, best not to use lead core on it due to fish safety/welfare, try a synthetic leader in stead
  2. crackin pics, well done again lads i really ought to get a trip over one day!
  3. on sapphire most people suggest not putting in a lot of bait, though not so sure now about that, fake popped up corn over sweetcorn seems to work well and last fish i see caught came out on mainline cell bait in early hours, watch out for the silt, it can be deep and real smelly in some places, if i think of any thing else i will let you know
  4. a good review rich, and a fair verdict on this lake, i have visited this lake when i have been at sapphire lakes and yes its 18 acres of canadian pond weed but what puts me of is the £12.50 for my girlfriend to share my bivvy, better of going to sapphire for less money and better rules
  5. A zig rig or very long pop up rig fished above the cabbage weed, but i wonder is it worth getting a marker rod out and looing for some clear patches? is the lake emmotland no 2?
  6. i do this on my local water and just use a standard bottom bait rig, it works, but if im doing this i like to tie it with soft silk braid as i know it wont be tangled
  7. you dont have to strip coated braid but you get better presentation, try stripping about 6 inches then tie the small loop for the hair and then put the hook on with knotless knot to create a hinged rig
  8. in deep silt i would use a much longer hooklink say 10-12 inch and after casting out pull the lead free from the silt to make sure the bait has not been pulled into silt
  9. IF there is a correct use then maybe, but in all honesty there is no correct use, only dangerous. http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=40970&highlight=leadcore http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=39794&highlight=leadcore http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=44156&highlight=leadcore http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=40711&highlight=leadcore i wont lock this because it will look like i am being petty trying to win an agument the fact is leadcore is dangerous whichever way it is used and therefore not worth using i thought about locking this and decided not to for the same reason, the way i see it , the only reason for using leadcore is the chod rig, and thats just because a few names use it, so whats wrong with the hinged stiff link for pop ups, no leadcore and very similar presentation.
  10. dont go near it! http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=40970&highlight=leadcore
  11. its a lasso knot, form a loop, then make a smaller loop inside the big one and wind a tag end around both loops 4 turns
  12. well said sir, a while back we had a situation where a member posted a comment about a product that he knew nothing about
  13. have heard a good few comments on here about korda hooks and not all good, so i wont use the product as its a vital link between you and a prize fish! regards tying the knotless knot, there is a correct way to wind the turns around the shank of a hook, but really sounds like the hooks you had were duff if you want tough but expensive hooks try esp raptors
  14. just maybe the main problem with leadcore could be that to many inexperienced anglers used the stuff, doing stunts like gluing lead clip rubbers in place and fixing beads tight to the leadcore, and as a result they have given the product a very bad name, i have had it kink and also the lead has snapped, poking out through the outer core, much as i like the presentation it can give i wont risk using it now
  15. http://www.jfonline.co.uk/knots_page.html http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=32236 here is a couple of links to some knots fella
  16. agree with the above IF you are set on using it, but to be honest there really is no place for it in modern carp angling, there are no benefits from using it, and the danger to carp makes it a no brainer, when you see just how many carp waters ban it you can see just how much of a danger it is to the fish
  17. use soft uncoated braid with little pva bags and coated braid with or with out pva

have a look at this thread, might be helpful http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=44395

    360 rig

like the man said, it can possibly cause damage to smaller fish if in doubt leave it out where fish welfare is concerned
  20. yep, a very good method, that i use with great results! free lined bread is still a top bait that a lot of anglers over look
  21. And the deepening pool, another classic
  22. sounds about right mate
  23. non fishing.....any thing by james patterson fishing..........terry hearns books, really looking forward to the 3rd one and chris yates books
  24. im currently reading this book, and yes its a great read but oh how times have changed!!
  25. Well, i played about with some old lead core over xmas and you guessed it, still cant find a way of using it safely, though terry hearn did an article about lead/chod and recommended using heavy mainline with l/core to reduce the overall chance of snapping of, that made me think it might be right to use heavy mainline and a weaker hooklink with the l/core. Still think its a no go though, so im trying rig marole kevlar leader for the chod rig, its metal free apart from the quick link swivel at one end, 50lb breaking strain and thinner than lead core so any bead will slip of with ease i will post a pic of the set up soon for you fellow anglers to give your opinion
