Not gonna catch them at home lol, done a lap of the lake and haven't seen anything so jumped in the swim I know the layout of, I'm fishing into an open spot of 6ft -7ft of water, a little bit of silt with weed surrounding it👍 I'm getting a nice donk with the leads so baits should be presented nicely 👍

I hope the birds leave you alone mate.

Yeah mate they don't seem to be as bad on this lake, I've had a few coots pick up the odd boilie but ain't being done by them yet. I've just had a tench about 3 - 4lb so atleast there's something grubbing around there, hopefully the carp ain't far behind 👍

I was looking at the pic thinking what’s the lad up to now 🤔 is he bored and hoping to catch a bird ? Orrr is it a cunning clue that’s he had a fish and drying out the net ? …I must confess I thought you were after a bird but just seen the carp catch 😂

Moved 4 times today, first spot on the 9 acre lake got done by the birds so moved further down, so I've set up found a clear spot, some guy has set up opposite me so had to move as I was fishing into his water. The 3rd swim I got to didn't last long as I was getting the rods out and started moving my kit I started to find ticks on my rod sleeves and quiver? No idea where they came from but it spun me out so moved down to the 4 acre lake, I'm quite happy with the spot I'm in as it's the one I've been recently fishing. There's a lot of fizzing going on over the spot I baited previously and there's a few fish showing in this bay so I've stuck 3 singles out over the spot, if it doesn't produce tonight I'll put some more bait out but for now I just want to keep the disturbance to a minimum lol. What a day, feels good to have a beer 🤣

Did you want to share with the forum , and maybe someone will have an answer to your problem , or it might be good to get what ever is bothering you off your chest .

Hopefully you catch a few, that will make up for the disappointment of not being where you were meant too

Good luck mate

Oxlease disabled swim

I was in that swim in 2007 when the big floods hit. Me and my mate were chilling having had a couple when the most intense rain arrived. We were bivvied up maybe 15 yards back from the water and in the space of an hour the water had come up so much it reached the bivvies. We had to pull everything out of the ground and dump it in the van to get out. Very nearly got flooded in. It was crazy.

Sorry to hear you've had problems. Don't let it ruin your session. Enjoy yourself 👍👍👍

Well mate it goes like this…. We turn up to our pre booked swim that the bailiff had placed a stake with a laminated note saying the swim had been booked for the 48hrs, this was way in advance I believe 4 days, and theirs two guys fishing in there 🙄 looked for the sign and couldn’t find it. we drove to the office had a word with Chris the fishery manager and he said he made the sign and a bailiff said he seen it there on the Wednesday.

Chris apologised and sorted a swim out on the Tar Farm set of lakes and said we just had to pay for the one ticket….. And we blanked 😏

Haven’t heard anything today from Linnar so il send a email off tomorrow to see if they got to the bottom of it, we were thinking next time we go il phone the head bailiff the day before to make sure there’s a sign up.

Some might think we got to fish and for half price so it wasn’t to bad …but a 30llb plus fish is on my mates bucket list and oxlease is the best bet to get it. The organising he’s got to do to get away for the 48hrs you wouldn’t believe and I won’t go into his personal problems here.

That was a close call. 😳
We fished it right after the floods on the day it reopened it looked dead which in a way it was the river had washed something in the lake and there was a fish kill Iv never seen so many crayfish in the shallows must’ve been starving with no angles bait going in, the bailiff seen us setting up on the disabled swim and said don’t bother go fish St John’s.
(I can see a pattern forming here 🤔

You should try and book another trip while you have their sympathy, hopefully they will roll out the red carpet for you next time, sad to hear that though sounds like the people fishing it just removed it so they could fish it. That's the gamble with day tickets you never know who will turn up.

So it sounds just like Elmo said , that someone simply threw the stake away .

I guess the the blokes in YOUR swim swore blind there was no stake there ? .

There must be a better way to reserve a swim ? .

It's a credit to you that it sounds that  you're more upset for your mate .

I used to fish Linear maybe 16 years ago, it would be a long drive from west yorks, last time we went we rang a day before and told plenty of room, rang on the morning still told plenty of room so drove down only to find it rammed out, anglers sat waiting for people to pack up, never been back since
