I'll let you know, my minds made up!

    For now anyway!!! 🤣

it's so simple. I love the concept! Fine tuning to my current kit and set up, required, but I hope to get it together in the next few sessions.

I couldn't care less about feeding puddle pigs for someone else's benefit. My current venue doesn't get kilos upon kilos of bait thrown in, so the average is late double early 20's. Nature has its balance is the owners philosophy and I tend to agree.

Same as my local ........ you’ll smash zigs you’ve gotta remember it’s a working type of angling as per match man..... find em,give em what they want, when they want it and you’ll be amazed.

I don't know the amount of fish because it's a public reservoir. Unfortunately here in Portugal are many anglers who still have the tradition of catch & freeze instead catch & release :(

I'm talking about the lake on the left, that little red point. Most anglers prefer to go to another lake near (less than 15km) because it's easier to fish there. I can tell you that the smallest carp i catched in the little one, was bigger that the bigger carp that i catched until today on the big lake.

Is definitely find em,watch em fish accordingly ....... Ian (Iberian) has fish a lot in your country but hasn’t been on here for a long time,unfortunately..... he’s had some stunners.

Its certainly a tactic that can work , but I'm not sure you can replace all the other methods of catching for this (zigs).

Although it would pose the question as to what would happen to the fish weights and even health in some waters if no one used any food source baits .

They would just keep eating like they did before anglers turned up. I agree on man made lakes(holes in the ground) then they would struggle but that’s just how carp fishing is nowadays ......

It can be a bit messy! I tend to have the bait bucket away from my gear so it doesn't get too splattered. I use a water bucket to wash my hands after every cast and just splash a fair bit over the reel as well.

Very messy,I agree but when it works it works 😉😎

  5. Just plain old foam for me ..... unflavoured and no spod.......... I have done well fishing zigs 6” under the surface when I’ve had fish taking mixers but don’t fish as many venues like that anymore . In heavily stocked waters you can’t beat a bit of slop spodded in....... pellet mush liquidised corn and hemp oil dark zigs score the best.... even in dull conditions. You may catch the odd fish with just casting to showing fish but I think the trick is to find them when there on a natural binge and where they feel safe ....... work hard at zig fishing and you will catch more fish..... fact.

I'm waiting for my vacations to wet my lines again!

Give me a little help, do you spod over zigs? I saw it on a video from Korda, but when i spod i'm trying to create a bed of food on the bottom of the lake. But i will use zigs to fish on upper layers of water, not the bottom...

How many fish are on your venue mate,is it quite well stocked ?

  7. Did an after work Friday dinner to today. Ended up with 6 got a suntan Friday and soaked this morning...... and no waterproofs. It’s the first time I’ve been down the local since early spring so happy with my catch and no fish through the night so manage a decent kip after an early start for work for an early dart....... time for a Guinness now 😬😎🎣

The one with me pulling the face was the smallest at around 8lb so did the old hold it forward to make it look bigger trick...... for a laugh like, made my mate laff anyway 😬

Bait turned up yesterday all okay. "Decanted" into session bags and half of them popped in the freezer to help keep the rest cool on the way down.
Look and feel, superb, (as always with ABS stuff). Nice light colour, they look like they'll wash out well. Unique smell. Chocolatey, with a fruity twist, and something else I can't quite put my finger on.
This new bait has been hammering it everywhere, let's just hope the Frenchies like it too!!
Yesterday was spent charging everything up. Kitchen looked like Close Encounters of the 3rd kind with all the lights flashing lol!!

    This was good viewing too.

I liked the presentation of the hook, not so sure I'd use maggots, as I only seem to catch small perch,. I hope Nige will like the product plug.

    There’s a water I fish that would be a decent rig,cheers mate 😬😎🎣

Was you not hot in all that clobber today? It was a scorcher and you look like that photo was taken in colder climates in winter lol

The fish came just after 4:00 and with with us sitting under the stars it went quite nippy, it was cloudy round Shrewsbury Friday morning and was shaded where we fished........ I was in shorts and t shirt packing up at 10 😅😬

So I took a few weeks and I havnt missed carp fishing at all, but I was really missing catching perch  so I went out for a few hours this morning and had one of about 1lb -1lb and 4oz I dont really pay that much attention  to weight  but I'm got the buzz back  well for perch anyway.

    IMG-20190628-WA0000.jpeg

Well in mate. I don’t think I’ve ever lost the buzz of fishing but there’s no way I could just carp fish exclusively,I know some do but it’s just not me. Had this fella this morning and I’ll probably be river and silver fishing for the next few months before my carp head gets back on. Well done and glad your enjoying your fishing, mate. 😬😎🎣

  14. I do use the 10% promo code when it’s on offer....... the last one I think was 10% off every order over £200 but on some theve had restrictions on what you do get it off last year was some Nash products not included with the promo and the 20% of any Grandslam gear one wouldn’t give me the discount on a £20 drop shot rod. Just saying like.

So what do you do if you don't find any fish, go home?? Myself I fish on! It may be the fish come back in minutes, but it could be an hour or more? It's obvious you don't do much of it or you would know, sorry? 🙂 You're putting stalking in a little box defining it to how you think. It's a much bigger technique than that, and setting traps is all part of it, as it is for longer stay anglers too? And it's clear you really are missing something, but each to their own Steve? 😉😉

Fo myself I'd define it as mostly a one rod technique but you may have more with you. Spending a lot of time sitting and looking for fish, maybe more time sitting than fishing. But somethings you simply cannot find the [censored]s. Then you work your traps (mostly margin spots) You may be creeping around, or simply walking featureless margins, or even putting a few floaters in the lilies, or weed. (Please don't say that's floater fishing) It is, but that's all part of stalking, you may fish on the top, or bottom, what's the difference, none, you still finding fish. You set a few baited areas and fish them in rotation, or not, you may not be able to see any margins fish due to coloured water, then what would you do, go home? No, you fish the spots, ten minutes, an hour, it's all about how you feel. If i could sum it up in a few words I'd say is "generally seeking out fish with one rod, rather than waiting for them to come to you" but it has some many variation of that. It's not a small box technique, unless you don't do it. I don't do anything else now days as I just prefer the freedom it gives me, and I don't have three matching rods for my sins!🤪🤪

What you’ve said is called fishing......

stalking is finding fish and attempting to catch them

putting floating baits around lilies and weed and using them on the hook IS floater fishing 🤔🤔🤔

As you’ve quoted you can take a horse to water ...... you can’t make it drink

Are you sure your not another ex member who use to fish the Nene in the 70,s and 80,s 😂😂🤔🤔🙄🙄

Its clear you have don every little yourself, because even when stalking you have to sit and wait. Sometimes for several hours, the fish often move off, but can come back, it's like all fishing a waiting game. Stalking can mean "finding the fish" then you have to bait and wait. Do yourself a favour and try it sometime. You would find a small umbrella would come in handy, just like I've mentioned, you need to be more open minded sometimes? Stalking simply means (to me) that you find the fish before hand, but on dull or cloudy days, rough weather, it's not always possible.

Stalking is not setting up and waiting for fish to return after several hours 🙄🙄🤔🤔

Thats called prebaiting or setting a trap.......... stalking is finding a fish,be it feeding or not and attempting to catch it.......... or am I missing something here 🤔🤔🙄
