    Or more than likely

the Korda tubs are like these

I can't seem to find a set of tubs that are actually better or as good as the korda tubs to be fair to them there ones have a 3ltr capacity and 4 fit perfectly in a bucket, having seen the B & m ones in action they are 1.8ltr and leave a big area of wasted bucket space. They may be half the price but possibly half as effective too which is a bit of a shame.

I'm not beaten yet though these are just teething issues 😁

We've had these at home for a while and never thought....use the tall ens for pasta n spaghetti, the medium for washing up powders and washer scent beads....never crossed my mind there like the Korda Tubs.

I love trying to make the house more organised, never seem to get there though but I could see the appeal in sneaking a few into the cupboards while no one is looking 😁

Sounds a good idea for a short session and the pots look bang on, it is easy to take far too much.  But then you wouldn't want to run out lol 🤷‍♂️😄

I could always leave another spare in the car though 😂

I mainly only do short sessions so running out would probably be a rare occasion, I quite like the fact I could just do a bit of prep every couple of months, and always have decent fresh particle, and probably buy less but be fussier and more precise with it.

I also think it would be good for hopper loading, shake of that, shake of that, shake of that, loaded and awaaay  😯

  4. Is this idea a little bit clever ?

I've had time to think this week, and I saw a post on fb about B & M doing a rip off korda kontainers being a couple of quid cheaper, fast forward to now and my brain has gone full throttle and after a bit of searching on the Internet, I've found a set of tubs that will also fit 17l buckets in 3 or so sizes and in bulk (16 or 24 tubs)

I thought I could use them to freeze prepped particles in, small ones for tigers, medium for maize or other bigger items and large for a mix of seeds for the base of the spod mix

I would also use a large one for boilies and another for chops and probably one for pellets, I've noticed a bit lately I seem to carry too many buckets regularly loading 4 or 5 into the car, not too bad if I can drive to the swim but would be nice to reduce that to 1or 2 but it would also be a good way to have easy grab pre prepped particles, I also think this may make me use less bait because all too often I bring loads home or I've possibly used too much 😂

    What do you think?

I'd be rather careful with minamino brought from a bait supplier or tackle shop as the chances are their supply isnt stored correctly. I used to get it 5ltrs at a time straight  from the manufacturer. I'd then split it into 500ml bottles and put them in the freezer (the real stuff doesn't fully freeze but turns to slush puppy consistency, if yours freezes solid then its been cut). One bottle would be in the fridge and if I'd not used 500ml with in 2 weeks I'd bin it as it starts going off. Only found this out after my catch rate nose dived one season.  Basically I'd used all my minamino up and couldn't get any from the manufacturer so brought shop stuff, lots of blanks followed.  Told an old school angler I knew about this and the first thing he asked was where did I get my minamino from, straight away he said it was the shop brought stuff. He gave me some of his and hey presto started catching again.

Bit long winded but thought I'd explain my reasoning.

Thanks for that. it is coming from AA baits who I haven't ever used before but seem to have been around for a while. So hopefully it will be fresher than a shop bought one. But something to bear in mind 👍

It was available in 500 or 250ml in date stamped plastic bottles from the chemist. Tackle shops weren't quite so careful.

Liver powder and flavour does mix quite well with a sweet cajouser.

One thing I will say with hi-attract wafters and pop-ups is I've done best when they are fished on their own with few, if any freebies around them.

Banoffee is a decent flavour at a low level with a food bait, but I've not done well with it in hi-attract baits.

I've played with various hi-attract baits, flavours and the like.

Some good ones are garlic and spice, pineapple (and N-butyric), green zing, squid and octopus, Tutti-Frutti and black pepper.

Other flavours didn't work for me, and believe me I tried loads.

Thanks for that I could add some butterscotch stevia sweetener to the mix as I have some tbh I am not planning on making it an out and out hi attract just a bright visual wafter, I quite like having a bit of a blatent hookbait jist something that stands out and is more attractive

actually I am also getting some of this as I also like adding garlic to things, I have a lot of hookbaits I was just planning to soak some in this. I also like squid, black pepper, I have some pineapples and yellow and orange tutti fruities lol, not many I haven't in pop ups 😲 I would like a great wafter though

    https://aabaits.co.uk/product/ultra-garlic-amino-betaine-booster/

  6. Just taken the plunge and bought some bits and bobs to make some wafters 😯

    Fluoro pink wafter mix

    Minamino

    Banoffee flavour

    Premium attract+ powder mix

    Liquid preservative

    Active CSL (freebie)

I also have a few other bits I may or may not use like a butterscotch sweetener, milk B, liver powder,

    Is that a decent start?

I am thinking top 5 ingredients at recommended levels to start and maybe milk B + to make it smell deliciously creamy 😲😍

How does that sound for starters?

Give one a lick and let us know what’s it like 👍

    No thanks 😂

I've also got some black shiny pinies, can't help thinking these will be good,

I'm going to be getting a little Creative with some hookbaits as I've got some powders and glug pots incoming too. Liver, Krill and a nut mix powder, I just need to find a couple of liquids and it will be full on nutty professor at Elmo towers 😂

Back from a few days fishing with mates at churn pool . Conditions were tough with easterly winds & heavy rain for the last couple of days .  Session didn't start well with losing a fish early on but did get off the mark at around midnight the first night , cracking mirror that my dodgy night shot did no justice to . Didn't weigh it but probably mid twenty.

Screenshot_20231017-003639_VideoPlayer.thumb.jpg.0b7be34c699c0ef41200f5ec735f2e1b.jpg I was fishing 3 different margin spots one on the far bank which produced the first lost fish ,  this fish came from the corner of the bay I was fishing & the 3rd was just off to my right by a bush .  Simple hair rigs & double tiger nut & fishing big sticks . Next bite came from the same spot & was a young fish.

Screenshot_20231017-163633_VideoPlayer.thumb.jpg.08ac01220227d89b5e5ce16d2f787e6d.jpg the rest of the day past bite less as did the night . Then 10ish the next day had a drop back bite from the corner again,  this one felt like a good one,  I had hooked a branch half way between me & the fish 3ft long & as it got closer realised there were zebra mussels on it right where my line was hooked up on it ,  managed to bring it in but needed two hands to free it without cutting it off on the mussels so had to put the rod down . Got it free & back playing the fish . So lucky not to of been cut off ! Eventually slipped the net under the fish & was rewarded with a pb mirror of 34 5 lb breaking my very old record by 2lb . 20231018_102231.thumb.jpg.16d9e8839cc0e7ff35740bfc640753ee.jpg

The final bit of action came from the bush to my right unfortunately lost this one in the weed . Great to get out & do some fishing  really enjoyed being back in the bivvy.

Good work mate, congrats on the PB glad you had a nice trip.

Was thinking of getting a Ridge Monkey toaster this weekend the small one. I use a pan for cooking and thinking the Ridge monkey be less bulky.

I've got the xl granite edition one, I've had a smaller one before, I like the extra girth of the XL though a much better all rounder

I would turn your thought on its head…and be thinking all I need is Carp with a mild drinking habit and a fetish for plastic.  🤔

    Best of luck 🤞

Rare Clonker as Wilson would say, came in with a weed berg singing eye of the tigers.

  11. My thought of the day, why did I forget my hookbait bucket, I've had to use bottom baits with plastic an old dry wafter and a corked double tiger nut, worst thing to forget ever,

I am also using leftover particles from the social it has white stuff on it and smells like moonshine.

    Going well so far.

What lb line do you use and size of lead can I ask?

I've been using 0.40mm Gardner gt80+ but I've recently switched to a 0.37mm katran line which seems to have helped, due to the weed and stuff I can't really go a lot thinner so not ideal casting line but an improvement and it seems to have helped, leads 3.5oz or 4oz dumpy distance on leadclips usually

I watched a video of some bloke with £25 beach rod which was floppier than a floppy thing. I wouldn't grow runner beans up it let alone fish with it and he cast this rod 140yds on his first cast with it with ease. Its all about technique in my opinion.  I'm not a big caster or I wasn't should I say. Watch Terry Edmunds on YouTube,  he's done a few videos lately full of tips. So maybe work on your technique first as it might just save yourself a few hundred

I have watched some of his vids and they do seem to help tbh, next thing I need to learn to adjust is my hands I need to put one more finger the front side of the reel, I've enquired about going today, my boat isn't charged so I may just go manual for once and use the spod/leading rod to the max  😲

The write up for the rods you are using is

this is based on a 3lb tc

im sure a friend of mine uses the same rod

When he bought them we fished a lake that was 105m from one bank to the other and I could just about hit it but most of the time dropped about 5 yards short but that was a standard overhead thump with a 6 foot drop and a 3oz lead

Thanks to a dependable carbon weave material and a decent array of furnishings, Daiwa’s Crosscast carp rods are as easy on the eye as they are on the pocket.

For a modest amount of moolah you get ceramic LS-lined guides (including a 50mm butt guide and anti-frap tip ring), full flared shrink-grip handle and an original Fuji reel seat.

The 12ft, 3lb test curve model on live test duty is a ‘Steady Eddie’ of a performer that can turn its hand to just about any method. It will handle solid PVA bags and straight lead set-ups, and is just about soft enough on the top of its tip section for zig tactics using hooks as small as size 12.

Very well suited to smaller or middle-sized venues, it will chuck up to 65 yards with ease, and will achieve 100 yards-plus in the hands of an accomplished caster.

However, the Crosscast is definitely not a horizon-buster, but more of an all-round tool for the newbie carper looking for a dependable and good-looking carp rod on a realistic budget.

At least it is not just me, I can just about get them100yds with no shock leader maybe I Do need some bigger rods 😂

This is why one set of rods can’t do it all…

    but

if you can only have the one set do you go for a set that can cast to the moon or struggle to get over 80 yards??

im lucky and have a set for any situation I may encounter

if that means using a 6’ rod or a 13’ poker then so be it

I am building up to need a cast to the moon set I think. But then I also think is it my rods holding me back or Just me holding me back 😂 I know some people could cast my rods much further than I do but should I just keep trying or just get some beefier rods and hope that makes up the extra required distance, I haven't reached for the shock leader yet on my rods, I can get the distance on my spod rod with shock leader easier so maybe that's what I need first.

  16. Daiwa crosscast have quite a nice fish playing action they do them in a 12ft 3lb tc I believe, I use 3.25lb and I can't remember losing many since I've switched to them. They are a nice  slim blank. And feel quality for the money, mine are a special edition total fishing tackle version that you cannot get now but the crosscast traditional seems to have a similar spec and Cork handles which look pretty nice 👍

My mate got the NGT Korda lookalike tackle box and it’s stood the test of time

    IMG_0450.jpeg

I had one of those but couldn't get enough stuff in it was pretty good though, I now have a korda tackle box much better size for all the toot I think I need to take bit in reality seldom use whilst fishing 😂

They also do a big one which I bought but that wasn't good.

Brew kit bag is a useful lil bag I keep my camera and lights and powerbank type stuff in it.
