Its to complicated for most people to bother with not sure whats its called but was invented by Townley. Uses ring hooks, separate hair etc. When I lay my hands on one of my rigs Ill take a photo and post.

  3. This is how I take line off my reels now. I know then that I'm taking off a pretty precise amount say 200yds. I then know what amount of line I have left on a bulk spool etc.

None of this stuff matters if you're not on fish. Have you been on them? In my experience carp are not too hard to catch once you've found them. The tricky bit is finding them, especially on a canal. If I was you I'd not even be unzipping the rod bag until I'd seen carp.

Wow, it shows me how different I am. I remember the first hair rigs and how effective they were in their day etc. But for the past 20 odd years I have used two rigs almost exclusively, one for anything remotely buoyant, the other for true bottom baits and these are coupled with either free running standard lead or free running helicopter set up. One is the so called 360 that I stole accidentally from its inventor and the other I don't know its name but its semi complicated and I have not seen mention of it. What I will say is I am convinced that if an average sized upwards carp picks either up, its curtains for that carp.

So I’ve been fishing the canal now quite regular since February with day sessions and night and 24 hour sessions but still nothing but they’re being pulled out as I promise it feels like everyone on the bank has had one but me me 😂😂😭😭 i don’t think I’ve been doing anything wrong I’ve tryed hinge rig , krank rig , and hair rig with either Pva mesh or solid Pva bags and not even the nibble I tend to re cast like every 3-5 hours depending how it landed the cast prior to recasting The baits I tend to use are the krill and manilla range boilies , Dumbbells and pop ups and wafters I do bait up with a mix of pellets bread maggots and powder and oils but still nothing any advice on what I can do to score the fish 😂

  11. This is what I have done, I've got about 200mtrs on each spool, and I've backed em up with an old spool of Daiwa Sensor (clear) so I know I'm upto the right spot. I was getting the same, all piling up at the top or either bottom, solved by adjusting the washers inside the reel, either add 1 or takeaway... I used another reel to wind off, the rewon it back onto the original spool... Presto.... On the 2nd picture it has slightly done it, but has worked off over time. Spare spools...

  12. My okuma spools take abiut a million yards of line so I went for a backing line, I worked it out so I should get enough for 3 reels from a spool of hydrotuff, I will just take it off to the backing and replace next time

Exactly this⬆️. If you can't find them though then maybe start baiting up a spot regularly and hope they come to you. That will take time , effort and of course a few quid for bait but the rewards might just be worth it In the long run.

  14. Use wrap sticks if you have them if not 2 bank sticks pushed in the ground a rod length apart. Reel onto a rod , tie one end to one of the sticks and keep wrapping until all line is off.

    Carp rigs

1- A decent pop up rig (I use spinners and hinges depending on the substrate). 2 - A decent bottom bait rig (I use a simple D rig). 3 - Zigs.

  19. Thanks will do, I spent ages looking around but didn't see a lot I just decided this may give me a small chance but I missed the swim I wanted to be in and the 2nd choice and 3rd choice lol found some nice spots though, but I think I might be competing against other anglers this year as well as the fish

  20. Spombs always break, I could be tempted by a wolf one but I would only stuff it up a tree 😂 My toy bait boat has annoyed me today, catch doesn't always open, I gave up and went old school and cast 2 rods in the end, I can see why people hate them now 😂

  22. I have some good rods, but the clapped-out low test fiberglass rods I bought 20 years ago stay in the arsenal likewise the Ultimate (same brand) alarms. I'll use a Delkim if I'm on the main lake and it's windy so I can squelch wave noise, but I really like those cheap Ultimates, and those soft 1.75 rods (or whatever they are) are perfect for close work on the river.
