elmoputney
Blank from me, had lots of new bits lately so it's to be expected, don't think many have been catching though, sent the Jolly Roger out on its maiden voyage, Had a couple of issues with a sticking trap door but once I got that sorted it was fine(dryish mix required and don't put gooed up solid bags directly on it 😂) bit slow but for £100 it will do the job, otherwise was nice to be out had a chicken jalfrezi and a beer, slept fairly well, was plenty warm enough in my navitas onesie, got woken up by a duck fight at 6:20 and I had bacon rolls for breakfast 😂 Home now 👍 dalej2014, salokcinnodrog, crusian and 4 others
commonly
Blank for me too! The bailiff said the same as above, no carp out since last year. Hopefully they will switch on in April when I next get out. Nice to get on the bank, though B B, elmoputney, finchey and 1 other

Far better 4nights fishing than watching rubbish television. The lake only occasionally throws up a fish in winter. Nothing carp wise has been out since December. It was the same last year, nothing out after the equinox until the spring. When those fish could be anything from 20 to 50lbs though... Hi Nick It's great that you , and others on the Forum , enjoy yourselves even though you haven't caught anything . My Wife says she gets it when I come home and asks me if I had any " no , buts " i.e. " No , but I saw the Kingfisher , and the Buzzards were flying low enough to see clearly " . 😃 elmoputney

That south easterly wind made it tough packing up. I would much rather have stayed curled up in the bag watching the water. crusian and Carpbell_ll
ouchthathurt
I got the beach rods out this morning, 10mins in, the sea crashed over the sea wall and far too many gallons of freezing seawater landed right on me! Both waders filled to my knees, totally soaked through top to toe. Manned it out for an hour or so, but 6oz leads were been thrown up the shingle by the force of the swell, so I gave it up and went home early. dalej2014, elmoputney, Carpbell_ll and 1 other 3
dalej2014
Was meant to fish Saturday. Got two miles form the lake and got a puncture! Spent the rest of the day getting recovered, then waiting for new tyres and tracking to be done. £300 later I went home, and didn't even get to cast out. Not the day I was expecting. So, undeterred, I went on Sunday. I tied a chod rig for my new super squid pop-ups, made ground bait from vitalin and other goodies, chucked a glug of fish and liver hydros in there, and fermented overnight. I made some HNV boilies glugged and coated in powder, then finished off witn a glaze of Minamino. I fished that in a PVA bag with pellets and some special K squirted in there. After all of that - blankety blank! lol. And it was baltic once the sun went in. That said, it was so good to be back on the bank again, so all worth it Edited February 28, 2022 by dalej2014 elmoputney, salokcinnodrog, buzzbomb and 5 others

I'd driven around 20miles towards the lake when the battery totally went, must have been low anyway as I hadn't driven for a couple of weeks. Had to wait tor 2hours to get towed back to Ipswich. Cost £150 for tow back to mine, £50 for new battery as I think the old one was cold affected and wasn't holding charge properly, then £260 for the alternator. The garage had the car in over the weekend as the first replacement delivered Saturday was damaged. On top of £350 for MOT at end of December was not happy. crusian, dalej2014, commonly and 1 other

They're just a money pit aren't they? Cars. But what's the alternative? Need one for work, fishing, shopping etc, so you have to pay those big garage bills. Still hurts the pocket when they arrive though. I've got a service and mot in a couple of weeks too. It's an expensive month for me as well. Luckily I already bought my spod rod and bait though 😁 commonly
Carpbell_ll
yous lot buying dodgy cars i'm the same got talked into buying a car i wouldn't normally look twice at she has been ok to be fair just a bit temperamental cold gearbox oil is a problem in modern cars KIAs at least. You can't beat a ford that's pre Z tec, the sub frames go on those before the engine and gearbox. dalej2014

To be fair I got the car second hand last year, and other than the puncture its been good as gold. After having crappy beaten up old cars most of my life I bit the bullet, spent some money, and bought a five year old Seat. The comment about old Ford's made me laugh. Nearly all old British cars were more rust than car! Not for nothing, were they called Dagenham dustbins! That said, my last car was a little diesel Fiesta, 1.4Tdci on a 53 plate The engine in those was made by Ford in conjuction with Citroen and Peugeot, and it was also good as gold, iunti lthe clutch went. It got me to pleanty of lakes too. Carpbell_ll

The modern Focus and Mondeo I really don't like; horrible to drive and no 'feel' with the exception of getting the ST version. Same with Vauxhall and the Cavaliers of the time. My 2.0l i Ghia Sierra was a beast. Ipswich to Earith in Cambridgeshire, 85miles in 45minutes, (Don't ask...), as was my Lotus Carlton. My eldest daughter didn't like it, until she discovered it was the Lotus. Funny thing is I ended up with speeding tickets in slower cars or vans. I do like my Golf, they go on, better than the A class Mercedes I had. Once one thing went wrong, the whole system and car went up the shoot. Believe it or not I can get me, my mate and gear for a weekend and Sky in the Golf, just by folding half the rear seat down. Just been keeping an eye on the lake, one of the VS stockies came out last night. dalej2014

salokcinnodrog
I can laugh now, but got my car stuck in the mud as I came off the hardcore path. The lake owner told me to get my gear round to the swim and she would arrange a tow out in the morning. Bit of a telling off, but she is a lovely lady so know I deserve it. Two barrow journeys later, 1 Spomb that unclipped itself putting a bit of pigeon conditioner and Vitalin in after 3 casts, I'm now sat in the bivvy after dinner with a coffee. ..., B B, elmoputney and 3 others
