Carpbell_ll
just back from walking the dog the roads are empty more so than Christmas. people are tense i made the mistake when doing a shopping run for my mum and us, just took the trolley up to the self service till and loaded it on as normal by the time the couple in-front finished the bloke was whining that i was too close, both a pair of gym bunnies in their twenties, the dude seriously wanted to fight me, i always seem to bump into the knuckleheads. Security guy on the door at pets at home of all places was whining about people coming in to look at the full range and buy fish food, i was getting my dogs food he is an old dude now and the regular brand stuff don't go through right, even the Ceasers for old gizzers was too hard to digest. On a side note i got to see my mums dog a big stupid bull dog boxer cross, someone else had it but it was too much dog for them so my mum took it on proper big softie now the gran kids climb all over him, mums had Boxer Grate Dane crosses Sheep dog crosses Labradors all sorts of big dogs so this dog was lucky as it is huge and energy packed. If I was bivvied up on a lake, as I was supposed to be this week, I would not be going to the shops at all. I am going to have to go out to top up my electricity and gas meter cards from the shop. Mr or Lady shop worker has coronavirus, but no symptoms, or a person who is also on essentials run, coughs or sneezes in store, the virus is in the droplets that hang in the air, for up to 3 hours. I have no symptoms, but I do have a smokers cough, my own stupidity, I'm also sneezing plenty at the moment as I keep getting moulting dogs hair up my nose, although I do still cover my face when I sneeze or cough. Add to that, how long do you think you are infectious for? Even with no symptoms? The answer will surprise you, 2weeks after you have recovered, your spit may still contain infectious traces of coronavirus, but you are infectious before any symptoms show. So the total time you are ill, plus 2 weeks after, and some time before. Add to that, the incubation period, nicely put by the media as 2-10 days, but studies have shown that there have been cases of up to 27 days. There are many people who would be totally isolated, bivvied up on a lake, camping out in the middle of nowhere, or in their mountain hut. Coronavirus has been in Europe a lot longer than the forecast date of 24th January in the UK. oscsha

"The “incubation period” means the time between catching the virus and beginning to have symptoms of the disease. Most estimates of the incubation period for COVID-19 range from 1-14 days, most commonly around five days. " source The World Health Organisation ( WHO ). However, if you have a link to more accurate research please share the link. This is a serious situation and we need accurate information. If the period is 27 days then we must stay isolated for 27 days - or whatever it takes. People are dying and a bit more isolation to save more lives is surely a price worth paying. emmcee and elmoputney

Hold your tone back. I'm making a point about something I don't agree with, not just for me. You ask the question, about a close one, I have. My Nan, 20 years ago, respiratory failure, caused by pneumonia. In hospital, on her own, none of her family able to get to hospital. My Nan, who looked after me for a year when my parents split up. My Nan who always encouraged me to be myself, who I think knew about my differences and autism long before it was common knowledge Lockdown in Italy, Spain has caused deaths, and will do so here. Lockdown in China, included boarding up houses with people still inside. How many have symptoms? How many is it minor? The actual death rate is no higher than seasonal flu. The massive majority of coronavirus deaths are down to underlying conditions, not just coronavirus. oscsha
Nick , There will always be questions and other views when radical measures are taken . My father in law is in full isolation due to , no spleen , blood cancer and prostate cancer all managed and stabilised with drugs , he knows his life expectancy is shortened compared to a fit healthy guy BUT when he goes he'd rather not be alone with the virus . There are many many more examples . All I'm asking is instead of looking for excuses of why not to follow the rules , look at WHY they are doing it . Is what they are doing going to save more lives then if they do nothing , thats a question NO one can answer , there's theories for both arguments . We HAVE to but our faith into the government and follow the rules .
oscsha
Question for you Nick - do you know any one on the strict 3 month isolation ? Their conclusion is rather telling. “In review, OffGuardian reports news with a pro-Russian bias. Many articles are very critical of the Ukraine, such as this Ukraine admitted to interfering in the 2016 US election on Clinton’s side. This story does not offer hyperlinked sourcing, but rather translations of documents. OffGuardian also frequently promotes conspiracy theories regarding GMO’s such as this: Post-Brexit Farming, Glyphosate and GMOs. Although this story utilizes some credible sources, it also cites Mercola, which is a website that promotes quackery level pseudoscience. They also promote 9/11 conspiracies such as this The Fakest Fake News: The U.S. Government’s 9/11 Conspiracy Theory. They frequently cover False Flags and the US Deep State conspiracy as well anti-vaccination propaganda. In an article by Ukrainian fact checker’s, Stop Fake, they write about the OffGuardian as “Russian trolls exiled from Guardian find home for their hate.” Politically, there is a wide range of opinions expressed, with many falling on the pro-socialist side, such as this: Anti-Capitalism is NOT Anti-Semitism. Overall, we rate OffGuardian a Strong Conspiracy and Moderate Pseudoscience website that also promotes Russian propaganda. (D. Van Zandt 5/29/2019)” You are free to choose whomever you wish to believe but for myself I would rather listen to The World Health Organization. The Chinese turned the tide on the virus by using lockdown. It is inconceivable to me that there could have been fewer death if they had not done so. I suggest (respectfully) that your views are dangerous. yonny, elmoputney, oscsha and 1 other
