Happy birthday chilly!! On top of the hill now! 😎
-
Sad to hear it, we're all different & I just hope you hold fond memories of the good in him mate.
-
I'm no expert, from personal experience it can be hard to relate, explain or burden, loved ones with your inner feelings. Yet a perfect stranger, that has no misgivings is a different matter & can be the desired tonic. I'm sure it wasn't personal stevo. Good for you ouchthathurt! Top man.

I have a few different fox ones, very good alarms, nothing wrong with them, just don't look as good as my ATT's

In no way whatsoever do I know difference this may make chemically, a fish farmer I know, swears by rock salt as an attraction. I tried it a few times with no success, but in theory wouldn't that alter the alkalinity of the surrounding water, whilst not providing much in the way of food source, hence your Bait would be present for any curious fish!! Just throwing it out there elmo

Really thought provoking, heart warming conversation. We as men are assumed to be insensitive to the effects of life. Quite often turning to drink or drugs as a coping mechanism. I for one would like to see a thread like this continue for any member to air there woes. It is good to talk & most on here are very considerate in their responses. Respect guys👏

I just did a bit of prebaiting ready for Friday night camping!! No signs of any fish, although I was only there about an hour.

Get on the zig mate😉
-
🕒 🤞. We're on the edge of our seats buddy
-
Shows the move was worth it mate. Sharpen up that hook and we'll see you in catch reports in the morning👍

Keep an eye out for the 2 man twin skin. I've had mine 5 years, no problems whatsoever! Absolute steal at £200 new. They've stopped making them now😭 more expensive ones don't compare for condensation control. No need for the winter skin in summer, keeps the mozzies out and you can still see the stars.

If you put them in an airtight bag they go into a sleep type state, take as much air out as poss, then just tip out what you want for the day in your Maggi box, they come around in a few minutes. keep the bag sealed. Not sure how long you can keep them like that, but I think they'll be good for about a week.

Get on that Highy. I've wanted to get one, great way to find the fish on a big water, then using a hook or claw type thing drop the rig!! Excellent use of technology, some may say cheating, but it's an advancement of the Bait boats. I've noticed a few fisheries have banned them already, can't say as I can see why?

See Gardener hydro tuff thread😉

Are you fishing snaggy waters Ian? There's yonny's write up and table showing stretch vs diameter /breaking strains on a thread from a few years ago, which is very useful. From that thread, I started using the GT HD. 15lb, superb line, none of the usual faults, that are common with other mono's. I used it on my previous syndi that had more Canadian weed than water, never had any issues. https://www.anglingdirect.co.uk/gardner-gt-hd-mono-line?gclid=Cj0KCQjwt5zsBRD8ARIsAJfI4BhySYV1soidRliRKmfSJM0aaxQzD-t9DuHrCNGp8SzoEYu1Kg6vXCwaAqeYEALw_wcB

My go to hooklink, many uses for different presentations. https://www.tacklebox.co.uk/lines/hooklink-materials/rig-marole-hydrolink.html Perfect combi rigs, I use a splits hot where I strip the fluro from inside the braid👍

Whilst it is sad, it's a fact of life. Not so nice for the poor soul that found him. & if the guys an angler, I'm guessing it happened fairly quickly, not a bad way to go IMO. I'd take that over months of pain and discomfort in and out of hospital, loosing my marbles, etc.

I suppose they wouldn't get much meat from little dogs😋

I know of a local day ticket with an HONESTY Box, completely emptied of all fish species & even ducks by EE'S. Blatantly just cooking up on the Bank. Local park lake, has mesh stone crates reinforced banks. They started with cord tied to branches, which were quickly removed, they then started tying the cord to the mesh crates slightly underwater, sneaky bar stewards. A landing net pole or stick walked around the margins is how we tried to dispatch them, but as with anyone trying to get something, they were determined to have a free lunch and have slowly emptied it. The other year one of chefs from a local Chinese restaurant was caught with a carrier bag full of ducks from the pond too!!

As tried and failed on here, trying to get a group together is a blooming nightmare!! I've got a pass for next weekend. 3 of my fishing pals want to have a get together (social), only two of them get on (they both don't like the odd one), but both want to fish different venues?? 🙄Private lake with a few 30's & cats to 70lb (my boy is desperate to have one) but for the same sort of money my other mate wants to go for our annual trip to Linear(no need to list stock😀) . My (&other guys) thoughts & doubts are, by the time we get to Linear, on the Friday night, most of the descent swims will be gone. 🤯🤯🤯 I tend to agree with you elmo, I'm not very sociable and as soon as you go with someone else, it gets blooming awkward!!

Please elaborate nige?

Not having a boat and probably being a bit stupid, I don't get it at all. What a load of carp. Surely GPS is the kit one would use?? £600 for a weighted pole with an led on top🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣lol. Sorry just don't even see why they bothered to make it

Don't be sorry paws. I personally use a chod pen with my thumb at the bend of the hook. A pulling tool or even the ring on the scissors will suffice. I made mention to practice, which IMO, is the most important part of it. I've never had a hook open up, or bent and had a few thirties. I can't quite see forceps gripping the hook enough to be able to pull it down tight enough. Do you mean pliers? I tend to use Kranks in all types(chod or curved) so in my mind, this method would undoubtedly weaken the hook. Or slip out when I pull it down. When I said near bend I meant exactly that, the written word is always misunderstood on here. Great advice for OP, Although personally I'd only really use a trace for pike/perch/cat fishing?? I tend to tie hook links for carp. I'm no expert and currently honing my zig fishing, on the odd occasion I get lakeside. Now that is a relatively simple rig and no need for bags of bits n Bob's. Rigs are constantly evolving and the vids and mags will tell you need this and that terminal tackle, my advice would be to keep things simple because otherwise before you know it you will of blown £50 on bits of metal and rubber, etc. that you don't really need. Got the t shirt on that one, 🙄
