  1. I suppose they wouldn't get much meat from little dogsπŸ˜‹
  2. I know of a local day ticket with an HONESTY Box, completely emptied of all fish species & even ducks by EE'S. Blatantly just cooking up on the Bank. Local park lake, has mesh stone crates reinforced banks. They started with cord tied to branches, which were quickly removed, they then started tying the cord to the mesh crates slightly underwater, sneaky bar stewards. A landing net pole or stick walked around the margins is how we tried to dispatch them, but as with anyone trying to get something, they were determined to have a free lunch and have slowly emptied it. The other year one of chefs from a local Chinese restaurant was caught with a carrier bag full of ducks from the pond too!!
  3. As tried and failed on here, trying to get a group together is a blooming nightmare!! I've got a pass for next weekend. 3 of my fishing pals want to have a get together (social), only two of them get on (they both don't like the odd one), but both want to fish different venues?? πŸ™„Private lake with a few 30's & cats to 70lb (my boy is desperate to have one) but for the same sort of money my other mate wants to go for our annual trip to Linear(no need to list stockπŸ˜€) . My (&other guys) thoughts & doubts are, by the time we get to Linear, on the Friday night, most of the descent swims will be gone. 🀯🀯🀯 I tend to agree with you elmo, I'm not very sociable and as soon as you go with someone else, it gets blooming awkward!!
  4. Not having a boat and probably being a bit stupid, I don't get it at all. What a load of carp. Surely GPS is the kit one would use?? £600 for a weighted pole with an led on top🀣🀣🀣🀣🀣🀣🀣lol. Sorry just don't even see why they bothered to make it
  5. Don't be sorry paws. I personally use a chod pen with my thumb at the bend of the hook. A pulling tool or even the ring on the scissors will suffice. I made mention to practice, which IMO, is the most important part of it. I've never had a hook open up, or bent and had a few thirties. I can't quite see forceps gripping the hook enough to be able to pull it down tight enough. Do you mean pliers? I tend to use Kranks in all types(chod or curved) so in my mind, this method would undoubtedly weaken the hook. Or slip out when I pull it down. When I said near bend I meant exactly that, the written word is always misunderstood on here. Great advice for OP, Although personally I'd only really use a trace for pike/perch/cat fishing?? I tend to tie hook links for carp. I'm no expert and currently honing my zig fishing, on the odd occasion I get lakeside. Now that is a relatively simple rig and no need for bags of bits n Bob's. Rigs are constantly evolving and the vids and mags will tell you need this and that terminal tackle, my advice would be to keep things simple because otherwise before you know it you will of blown Β£50 on bits of metal and rubber, etc. that you don't really need. Got the t shirt on that one, πŸ™„
  6. This app is very good on google play. Fishing knots Practice makes perfect, get 2 pulling tools, I pull everything down as tight as possible. Near bending the hook and 100% sure the knots will not snap.
  7. Near Gatwick mate. Venue is in the ashdown forest. I get around the south, but try to avoid the day tickets with silly rules.
  8. Thank you chilly. Your pain must still be raw. The owner is a bit of a tree hugger, I don't imagine he could stop them even if he wanted to. The lakes are stream fed, with a small weir and river system connecting 4 lakes, I believe there's around 2 miles to walk right round, so God knows how much that would cost to fence. And even then I'm sure the carp cull has started, I noticed just one carp in 24 hrs, blowing the bread my boys threw in. There's usually several cruising around all day long.Sickening really mate. I just hope I'm in a position to get my car park ticket back next year, at least that's been fenced. Re: the original topic, if it's not fenced it's going to get hammered, & the venues will have to charge a premium to cover their costs. Driving the cost of fishing up & up😭
  9. Speaking to a mate about my sad news and he told me about this😒
  10. Hard to say if that's a good or a bad thing mate?? I've learnt in life you can't please everyone/anyone all the time! πŸ™‚ Hopefully the fish got away with little to no mouth damage
  11. Are you fishing with them back here though smufter?
  12. Well took the missus and my youngest son, 1st overnight to the estate lakes this weekend. The above turned in and I was mucking around with a short pole with my 7 year old in the twilight hours. We were discussing how unusual it was that we'd not seen any carp cruising around, as would be expected. To my absolute horror, right in front of me a young otter poked it's #@###@# head up! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I thought I'd found a little piece of heaven on my door step, no massive carp, but beauties non the less. To make things worse the owner is over the moon about it, he's a nature lover, but doesn't seem to understand what the consequences are going to be. There breeding and have 5 river fed lakes full of carp, tench, bream, roach, chub and supposedly barbel. Omg, time to look for a fenced venue. Dammit, excuse the pun, but I AM GUTTED! 😠😠😠😠
  13. As above microbarbed for me. More risk of scale, fin and overall damage to the fish in the net, with barb less. Ps lots of old threads on this one elmo. Although the Pallatrax has some good reviews from a few members
  14. I've only tried the other carp one, social media is not for me. This one is better than the other one, but a bit heavy on deleting some very amusing difference of opinions, IMOπŸ€”
  15. There's no freedom of speech here my manπŸ˜‰. Drog knows how many of my posts have been deleted for having a different opinion to the norm!! I sincerely apologise if you took offence to my comments, it was a generalisation to all posters, to prove who's point of view holds up to test! I tend to agree with your theory elmo. & at the end of the day, each to his ownπŸ‘
  16. Only if there's overhanging trees, drones at different heights and underwater cameras to film the trajectory of the leads.
  17. Let's all get together at Horseshoe and have a casting battle πŸ˜‚. You never know we could get a few tackle/rod manufacturers willing to provide their kit and get endorsement from us members!! 😊
  18. I am shocked you lads are being slightly controversial and haven't had the whole thread edited! 😲
  19. I wanted a small telescopic rod to take on holiday a few years ago. The tackle shop only had a 5 piece 6 ft shimano tribal one. Comes in a small tube. Absolutely brilliant bit of kit, I can leave a section out and have it down to 5 ft. I keep it in the van with a a 2 piece landing net and stalking bag. I can get in under overhangs that would be impossible, even with a 10 ft rod. Only thing is I just don't get the chance to use itπŸ˜’
  20. This reminiscent of the silly/stupid rules thread. Not sure if it's still on here due to deano Baggio (troll) having quite a lot of input
