  1. Hats off for effort with photoshop mate! I wouldn't have a clue! Suely if you turned it into an inline, the line would snag on the washer? Or am I missing something?? I've ordered some, so I'll let you know how they perform. 19th I'm doing my first 48.
  2. As above, perfect hook holds, with both bottom and balanced baits. Combi, hinged stiff type rig. I'd happily put it out on most spots! Part of the puzzle of fishing is in fine tuning your approach to appreciate the rewards! Do you bucket test your rigs?? I find it very useful to see how the bait sits and more importantly how the hook reacts when you lift the bait. The smallest of changes can be the key to success.
  3. Has anyone had any experience with these leads?? The look kind of funky!
  4. I've gone in the loft for an old water tank, stop valve ball. The bailiff was using one and said you'd struggle to see a normal marker float! I assume it's always quite choppy on the surface of the open water. Point taken about the sea leads. I'm on the case for some large washers.
  5. Apologies carpepecheur. I will look into the washer system. The rules state no form of backlead, but I plan to wrap putty around a sinker to achieve what you have shown. Thanks buddy πŸ‘
  6. I think so, I'll find out all the do's & dont's on the induction. 70 odd ft in the middle. So yep very long!! There was a chop on the water yesterday, causing discolouration 4-6ft from the bank, weed was visible, looks really clear. The bailiff said the light doesn't go much deeper than 18-20 ft, so the weed cannot grow. He's caught from the depths, to prove a point, but said its not easy.
  7. Β£8 a day or Β£15 from Friday to Sunday! They have little electric outboards. Definitely a new era in my fishing experience!
  8. The manager believes big weights and bent/curved shank hooks can tear the fishes mouths!! No back leads either! He's a respected breader, so I'll bow to his greater knowledge. That's why I need gripper leads. May get away with 4oz,but feel I should be obeying the rules initially. I still have my L plates on with zigging, but will give the adjustable, a go for sure!! Good shout. New rod bag too!! The boss is going to freak when I start upping my kitπŸ€‘
  9. So I had a few hours walk about yesterday. Learnt a lot, most anglers were fishing the main body of water. The only bivvy I approached, turned out to be the head bailiff!! Nice bloke, fished it for 27 years. Lots of helpful advice. I need to get a life jacket and do my boat safety induction ASAP, as it would appear no one is using a barrow to get to swims. I think unless it's millpond flat, it will be virtually impossible to spot any fish activity, due to the chop/waves. Can anyone suggest decent gripper leads. Max allowed is 3.5g. The bailiff had flat pear type and was still casting 25 wraps!! That's about 24ft depth. He did have Basier's though! Maybe I do require pit reels to be able to fish that distance and depth comfortably???
  10. Nice one Elmo!! Enjoy cloud pb!! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
  11. It's over 200 acre reservoir, the manager seems to believe they've already spawned in the hot weather back in April, they may go again but he doesn't close. I'll just enjoy learning my new venue for the first time, come what mayπŸ‘
  12. Whenever I've tried it I get silly little liners & find a small perch has gobbled them up. Very frustrating. Stick to foam or a pop up in waters with mixed coarse fish would be my advice mate. I am still waiting for my red letter day on zigs, but I plan to persist. There's some very interesting previous threads on this subject, just use the search function. Be lucky
  13. Hi, Welcome to the forum, I'm sure you will find a lot of previous topics on this in bait thread. Personally I use A2 banoffee, every confidence in it. If I couldn't get hold of them, I'd use scopex squid. Be lucky
  14. Nice one Elmo, you're smashing it!! All that bait preparation is paying off mate! Keep it up
  15. Thank you all. Very interesting advice, you've raised my confidence level since yesterday, when it all felt a bit daunting. Yes several, with a large out of bounds nature reserve at one end. On my to get list! Got a decent one. I'm a bit concerned that pegging down may be an issue, if fishing the dam wall bank. I was told you can get pegs in between the concrete slabs?? I was thinking of taking my cordless and some screws with big washers on. Not so sure the water board or management will like it though?? Any solutions welcome
  16. Average is in the 20's, several 30's & a few lumps, not seen for a while!!! I don't think it's a runs water by any stretch, but the manager, put in about a 1000 early doubles a few years back. One he recognised on the bank last year was up to mid 20's. He tells me the they give a good account for themselves 😊 First weekender at the end of the month. I can't wait
  17. The very best of luck tomorrow mate 🀞
  18. So, I've now secured a ticket on 200+ acre reservoir. In search of a fresh new challenge. I plan to spend a few years getting to know the place. I am now starting to panic!! My fishing up to now has been on fairly small intimate waters. 3-9 & 15 acres is the largest. The manager told me there's no particular spots due to the rise and fall of the water over the year. I'm also led to believe that the carp are mainly at mid water. Known to regurgitate fry upon capture?? Adjustable zig is my thought, although I'm not very confident in my use of them to date, I intend to hone that in the near future. I've got shimano 10000 bait runners, which I am now thinking need to be replaced by big pits?? If a biggy takes off, I'm worried I'd run out of line!! I'm not so sure I will be able to see fish showing, due to the chop on the water. I will obviously ask whoever for any information, but should I try to find features in the coves or fill in a few spots of the dam??? All and any advice appreciated gents!
  19. Nice one yonny! Lovely common mate, I bet you were buzzing all week. πŸ‘
  20. DIY and decorating under way! Fabsil on order, it's about time I cleaned and protect the bivvy. Not so sure I've got the time for cleaning all my gear though! Back to work next week πŸ˜•
  21. That fully scaled is a beauty, fish of a lifetime. Nice one yonny!
  22. I booked majorca for late May with TUI. Thankfully paid on credit card, so hope to get a full refund. Friends in that industry advised to get the refund, due to the control factor. If you accept an alternative and something caused a further cancellation, then you could risk the financial loss. Having the money to pay for an alternative should put you in a stronger position if and when things are available, chances are you can get a better deal. I'm sure it's going to take a while before things find an equilibrium.
  23. Must have app!! Maybe the title for a new thread?? What cue do you use mate? UK's mine
  24. Where"s kieffer blooming sutherland when you need him?? He'll sort this all out, in 24!!
  25. As usual unclear messages from our pompus leaders. It would appear its only key workers that should be going to work?? If I am wrong I would be happy to be corrected!!
