    April catch reports

Went on a quest for my first catfish this weekend, I lost one the other night as it was steaming towards a bridge, I was felt a bit defeated lol. Anyway I carried on and managed this beauty this morning at 29lb 8oz πŸ‘buzzing πŸ‘πŸ‘ Anyway I feel like I got the bug for these things so getting some catfish rods ordered, I now want a bigger one but have learnt I need stronger gear lol. I'm wet and covered in slime, so packing up and going home 🀣 mission complete πŸ‘Œ
  2. I've got a knock off temu x spomb, opens at range pretty much every cast and but has issues with short range lol I've seen them airbombs before, I like the concept of them but I wonder how big the spread would actually be lol I've got a horrible cross wind at the moment so as I cast out the midi x spomb I've been dropping the tip and to my side a little, it opened every time over 10 spombs, been fishing 9 wraps which is about a ft off an island and they all been pretty much on the money πŸ‘πŸ€£ Do you use the Amnesia leader on a dedicated apod rod or for spod/marker?
  3. I'm having trouble getting the spomb open using braid lol, I was only thinking about this earlier, spombing with mono was such a dream and now it's like every other cast it won't open 🀣
  4. Haven't seen any big cats down in Devon but when I was younger after a weekend bender we were on our way to work and I could of swore I seen these massive rabbits jumping over a fence...turned out to be deer πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈπŸ€£

    New purchases

Just finished the video mate, my mate was at one of the shows and recommended these as well πŸ‘πŸ€£ I do wonder if I should get something like this for longer session or invest in an electric cool box as I do have a power pack and 100w solar panel which I still haven't used with it yet 🀣
  6. I've got the older version of this https://www.anglingdirect.co.uk/sonik-bank-tek-unhooking-cradle?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwwLO_BhB2EiwAx2e-3yno14iH5CajoaE3702KPdYpQ_02gpsqOtzE1fkvA_KY62lR_nS8DRoCNh8QAvD_BwE Brilliant bit of kit, I use it to carry all sorts of kit 🀣

    March catch reports

Left margin went off at midnight last night, it didn't feel right as i could feel the line grating which ended up cutting me off. Not feeling it today, might try golf instead 🀣
  12. I'm afraid to weigh it but I emptied my lead bag at the beginning of the year and it equated to two Chinese containers full of leads, I was carrying all of them all year round 😬🀣
  13. Very quiet on the fish front but the weather is lovely, really does feel like spring, all the birds are chirping. Good to be out πŸ‘Œ
  14. Really happy with this, keeps it all organised πŸ‘ also got rid of the stuff I didn't use 🀣
  15. Just thought I'd update on the korda compac camo luggage πŸ‘ The 3 rod holdall fits 3 rods made up with my daiwa sportsmatic-x 5500 reels, they fit really nice and not too tight. Its also carrying a spod/marker sleeve on one of the outside pockets. Distance sticks, net/handle, and camera tripod all fits in it too. The real challenge was stripping down the nash monster carp holdall and tfg coolbag, I've transfered to a 45l rucksack and a xl coolbag. The hardest part was emptying the ridgemonkey armoury into a korda basix tackle box, what I've ended up doing is putting all the metal/kickers etc into the basix box and using a small case/bag for the hooklink materials etc. I've done it though and feels much more organised. The 45l rucksack takes the tackle, scales, radio, popups, camera, torches/lights and some spare batteries etc. The xl cool bag has everything to do with cooking. I can fit a kettle, stove, gas, ridgemonkey deep xl pan and griddle, with room in the bag for teabags, coffee, milk and food etc. Has some straps I can slide the ice blocks into. It also has a front pocket where I can keep cutlery etc. And the bottom of the coolbag I can keep a thin chopping board too. All I can really say at the moment is I'm pleased with how organised all my kit is now. Quality feels wicked too, but time will tell I suppose πŸ‘πŸ€£ sad to see the monster carp holdall go, it was the first ever holdall that my dad got me when I was a kid, it really gas took a beating 🀣
  16. Used to spomb on the reservoir with mono mate but was baiting a large area so accuracy didn't need to be spot on, I don't know by how much but the mono would stretch πŸ‘ Wouldn't use it with a marker rod tho as you feel a lot more with braid, I've had to strip my gear down for my new water so opted for one rod as a spod/marker that's using braid. Took me a little while to get used to it but I prefer it now. As for wind knots ive been quite lucky, I used to get a few but now the braids been on there for a year or two so it's really bedded down, not sure if that's the reason why I don't really get them anymore though lol
  17. I don't mate, I've only ever used it on wounds like where the fish has damage to its body area, I only use antiseptic in the mouth πŸ‘ To be honest if I pull a fish in that's badly damaged I'd retain it and call the bailiff πŸ‘
  18. Interesting thoughts about sealing in germs πŸ‘ I was always told to pat the area dry then seal with propolis πŸ€”
  19. Hi mate I use Gardner intensive care for hookholds, it's just a spray, just be mindful it sorta dyes your fingers blue πŸ‘πŸ€£ I use prolopis for damage/wounds, it creates like a scab over the wound. I think prolopis if sealed properly has a shelf life of around 10 years πŸ‘

    New purchases

Very nice mate, I think the 150 has a lot of room in it, I seen one a while back and even with the bedchair tucked to the back there was a lot of room in the front πŸ‘ Years ago me and my dad bought the fox royale bivvies with the pram hoods, they were an absolute nightmare to put up and even worse to take down. Safe to say we sold them after a couple sessions 🀣

    New purchases

I will check them out for the summer mate, something like that would come in handy on the ressies πŸ‘ For now I've opted for the korda compac dark camo xl cool bag, just to match the rest of my kit πŸ‘πŸ€£ seems like I can get all my cooking stuff in it, brew kit stuff and some food for the day πŸ‘ When I ordered the 45l rucksack I imagined it to be big, safe to say its not as big as I thought and keeping the ridgemonkey armoury tackle box in there is gonna take up a lot of room, so I've ordered the korda basix tackle box just to store the essentials which also has a little rig board, will keep the armoury under the car seat so if I run short on the water I can restock from there πŸ‘

    New purchases

Yeah I got you mate, the cool bag I've got at the moment will keep a frozen meal frozen for about half a day and by night time it has pretty much thawed out but don't trust anything after that lol. I mainly want it for storage, just so I can keep all my cookware stuff in it, and some grub for the day. I don't need it to keep meals frozen for days as I have a tescos that's a 5 minute walk from the bank, so normally do a shop in there each day while doing a lap of the lake πŸ‘πŸ€£

Anyone use a separate holdall/bag for their cooking stuff? Thinking about getting a large coolbag so it can carry everything for cooking?
  24. I've always liked making fishmeal baits with fish/spice flavours and sweet flavours with a nut/milk bait only because that's what seems right in my head lol. I remember someone saying that flavours have caught more fishermen than carp 🀣
  25. I've got the atts aswell, nice alarms once I found out how to turn the vibration setting off on the receiver 🀣 Might sound mad but the only thing I don't like is the shape of them, could do with with being more chunky 🀣
