Nope, I tie them on the bank, my normal go to rig is a loop to loop combi rig but I just change parts depending on what lake I'm fishing. I'm a bit weird I will change kicker shapes, hook sizes and patterns, blow back ring and tubing on different waters π€£ I don't really enjoy tying rigs either π€£ My dad only goes a couple times a year and buys the korda ready tied ones and has put fish on the bank with themπ

When I'm fishing the complex it's like a morning ritual I will walk to lidls and get fresh chocolate croissants, they go perfect with a coffee, sometimes they are still warm πππ€£π€£

Hi mate I found a set of nash dwarfs 9ft 2.75lb were ideal for most of my pond fishing, stiff enough to send a 2.5oz lead as far as needed and they felt really nice playing carp, done more 20s than I can remember on them, and they would certainly be enough for bigger fish. For a cheap bait boat, me and my dad share a actor baitboat by boatman. Its nothing fancy but will get your rig and some bait to them island's and over hanging trees π

Never had much luck shore fishing/beach casting, always seemed to catch dogfish. Tried eating one once and not a fan of it π€£ There's some big carp on this tidal stretch, seen some right chunks which has gotta be high 20s low 30s, my mate who fishes the tidal for bass etc has had them swimming around him while wading, but trying to find them then fish for them seems so hard, like they know you're fishing for them π€£ I'm gonna get a swim cut out in the reeds that's a nightmare to get to, so hopefully it will only be me who's fishing it. Gonna get a patch raked out down the near side margin at low tide then fill it with maize etc, keep topping it up every few days and see if it produces when the rivers are open again π I've found you won't see an angler on the stretch, but a day or two later after creating a swim there will be someone in it lol.
-
All my waters have kicked off now lol, I'm probs gonna have a go for some mini species off the rock marks but mainly gonna try building a few secret swims on a tidal stretch for when it opens again. I also want a go at raking a whole at low tide so it washes all the sediment away and get some bait going in on the spot, not sure if it will work but reckon it's worth a try ππ€£

Just got back from a 24 with my dad, we had a wicked session π he had a 21 and two doubles πI did 25lb 8oz, 21lb 4oz and a mid double π I think they are getting ready to spawn, they were all really plump and as we were leaving there were a few crashing around the back of one of the islands so that's gonna probably be it for a couple weeks now. Maybe have a dabble at some sea fishing π

Whatever floats your boat init lol, I love catching Carp on the ressies, fishing at distance. When you lift into something feeling solid 100 yards, just feels wicked π then it starts stripping you when youve got it half way backπ€£ I find they fight so well on the ressies, 100% my favourite way to target carp lol. @yonnyit was your advice years ago that helped me get some of my first captures on a 90 acre water, which is now my favourite place to fish π€£ I do try to mix it up a bit though, I go to a 4 acre estate lake with my dad, it's pretty easy to get a bite once you've cracked it, but tbf it's more about spending some time with him π This year I've joined a complex with some stunning fish, I've managed 3 20s this year on the 4.5 acre lake, but still struggling on the 9 acre, not a single fish yet lol, they are very weedy lakes and just learning how to fish on them has been a massive learning curve and that's just presenting a bait π€£

Will my rooblinos be up to the job a test of temu

I've still got my biomaster xta 8000 reels, my dad bought them for me nearly 20 years ago as my first set of big pits, even though the bail arms have dropped slightly, they are still mechanically sound π I retired them last year but got them back out recently for catfish and they're still going strong πͺ -
Shambles lol, I should of deffo checked the weather and put a bit more thought into where I was setting my bivvy up, the rain continued all through yesterday and got heavier over night with thunder, lightning and hailstones. The rain was so bad it made its way through the bivvy, the groundsheet some how failed and had water running across it. The ground I set up on just bogged down, this morning I was basically set up in a giant puddle, the bugs vacated the ground and decided to crawl in the bivvy, I had worms and slugs making the way up the bivvy, it was a complete mess ππ€£ thrown the towel in this morning and just packed up in the rain, piled it all into the car soaking wet π€£π€£no more fish to report lol
-
Done a mid double common yesterday and just done this one at 17lb 12oz, it's hammering down and my hood wouldn't stay up, it all went wrong π€£ Anyway it will be my last night tonight, hopefully get another cat π
-
Is not easier to get into a pair of flip flops or crocs π€£ on the res I've found myself wading out in shorts and crocs in the middle of the night before lol tbf there's been a few times where its been bare foot π€£π€£π€£
-
That's a big nope from me π€£ I know my luck I'd end up having bugs crawl in there with me π€£π€£

Managed to sneak 3 nights in for this week to test my new rods ππ€£ Had this one around 2am this morning at 29lb, caught it on a piece of chorizo sausage topped with half a pink wafter π the rods are like broom sticks to cast with, but have got a decent back bone, enough to put pressure on the fish and turn it when its heading towards snags π

Wicked mate, my favourite places to fish are big open reservoirs, we used to fish upper tamar about 15 years ago, was quite a trek to swims up past the quarry π€£ I've got a ford focus and it's like a game of tetris getting it all in the back π€£ Same as that mate, the hide xl was being sold as a 2 man camping tent π€£ Is that a water filter lol I take 10l on all my trips, even for a 24 hour π€£
-
Yeah mate as I'm new to catching cats it seemed like a good idea as it's away from everyone else lol π€£π€£π€£ just my luck mate lol, they were proper on it though, I landed 3 and had a hook pull on 1 and a drop back that lead to nothing lol. Not much of a fight on the cat gear though, the rods are 4.5lb or 5lb tc I can't remember exactly but they are like broom sticks, and was using 25lb line π€£ Thanks mate, not sure if its the strain but they had really weird eyes lol I did another mirror at 3am this morning, a mid double I expect, didn't bother weighing it or doing pictures, temps dropped and had ice on all my gear π€£ That's me done for the next 10 days now, oh and the locking pins on my barrow broke as I hit a pothole with the wheel, barrow ended up rolling over, smashed my shin up as i tried to stop itπ€£π€£π€£
-
Off the mark with this mirror at 19lb 8oz, not the species I'm after but I will take it π€£ nailed it on a size 2 wide gape double 20mm boilie π€£

I find half the problem is if you don't take it, you end up needing it π€£ I've scaled back quite a bit but looking at my kit I probably lose the guest chair and power bank, but I prefer sitting on the chair during the day and like to have power just incase the phone or camera dies lol. My aim is one barrow load comfortably, if it takes more I need to scale it back again ππ€£ I can't be dealing with small bedchairs, tried it in the past and it's torture on long sessions π€£ I'm currently using the nash ss4 wideboy sleep system and find it the dogs lol, not sure on the weight but I'd say probably 35 - 40kg π€£ Interesting though, when I pack up tomorrow I might get the scales out and weigh bits of kit see what the total is on a barrow load lol I buy most of my stuff second hand mate, the price of new bivvies are insane π€£ got quite lucky a couple years back and got a nash hide xl with door and groundsheet for 170, only been used for camping twice lol. It's trashed now tho π€£
-
My mate who's fishing the canal at the moment has gone a bit mad about stripping his gear back, he's removed his kettle for a metal cup that he can use on a stove π€£ Is it about the weight on the barrow for you guys or the space it takes up? For me it's not so much the weight of things, but the amount of stuff I take and how long it takes to pack away lol. @Roughtor my old bed chair and sleeping bag weighed around 49kg if I remember correctly π€£

Ordered a pair of the ngt xpr catfish rods, 2 for 65 lol, I've read a few reviews and people are saying they do the job π
-
Went on a quest for my first catfish this weekend, I lost one the other night as it was steaming towards a bridge, I was felt a bit defeated lol. Anyway I carried on and managed this beauty this morning at 29lb 8oz πbuzzing ππ Anyway I feel like I got the bug for these things so getting some catfish rods ordered, I now want a bigger one but have learnt I need stronger gear lol. I'm wet and covered in slime, so packing up and going home π€£ mission complete π

Spodding & markering with mono
jh92 replied to elmoputney's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
I've got a knock off temu x spomb, opens at range pretty much every cast and but has issues with short range lol I've seen them airbombs before, I like the concept of them but I wonder how big the spread would actually be lol I've got a horrible cross wind at the moment so as I cast out the midi x spomb I've been dropping the tip and to my side a little, it opened every time over 10 spombs, been fishing 9 wraps which is about a ft off an island and they all been pretty much on the money ππ€£ Do you use the Amnesia leader on a dedicated apod rod or for spod/marker? -
Spodding & markering with mono
jh92 replied to elmoputney's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
I'm having trouble getting the spomb open using braid lol, I was only thinking about this earlier, spombing with mono was such a dream and now it's like every other cast it won't open π€£ -
Haven't seen any big cats down in Devon but when I was younger after a weekend bender we were on our way to work and I could of swore I seen these massive rabbits jumping over a fence...turned out to be deer π€¦ββοΈπ€£

Just finished the video mate, my mate was at one of the shows and recommended these as well ππ€£ I do wonder if I should get something like this for longer session or invest in an electric cool box as I do have a power pack and 100w solar panel which I still haven't used with it yet π€£
