  1. Used to spomb on the reservoir with mono mate but was baiting a large area so accuracy didn't need to be spot on, I don't know by how much but the mono would stretch πŸ‘ Wouldn't use it with a marker rod tho as you feel a lot more with braid, I've had to strip my gear down for my new water so opted for one rod as a spod/marker that's using braid. Took me a little while to get used to it but I prefer it now. As for wind knots ive been quite lucky, I used to get a few but now the braids been on there for a year or two so it's really bedded down, not sure if that's the reason why I don't really get them anymore though lol
  2. I don't mate, I've only ever used it on wounds like where the fish has damage to its body area, I only use antiseptic in the mouth πŸ‘ To be honest if I pull a fish in that's badly damaged I'd retain it and call the bailiff πŸ‘
  3. Interesting thoughts about sealing in germs πŸ‘ I was always told to pat the area dry then seal with propolis πŸ€”
  4. Hi mate I use Gardner intensive care for hookholds, it's just a spray, just be mindful it sorta dyes your fingers blue πŸ‘πŸ€£ I use prolopis for damage/wounds, it creates like a scab over the wound. I think prolopis if sealed properly has a shelf life of around 10 years πŸ‘

Very nice mate, I think the 150 has a lot of room in it, I seen one a while back and even with the bedchair tucked to the back there was a lot of room in the front πŸ‘ Years ago me and my dad bought the fox royale bivvies with the pram hoods, they were an absolute nightmare to put up and even worse to take down. Safe to say we sold them after a couple sessions 🀣

    New purchases

I will check them out for the summer mate, something like that would come in handy on the ressies πŸ‘ For now I've opted for the korda compac dark camo xl cool bag, just to match the rest of my kit πŸ‘πŸ€£ seems like I can get all my cooking stuff in it, brew kit stuff and some food for the day πŸ‘ When I ordered the 45l rucksack I imagined it to be big, safe to say its not as big as I thought and keeping the ridgemonkey armoury tackle box in there is gonna take up a lot of room, so I've ordered the korda basix tackle box just to store the essentials which also has a little rig board, will keep the armoury under the car seat so if I run short on the water I can restock from there πŸ‘

Yeah I got you mate, the cool bag I've got at the moment will keep a frozen meal frozen for about half a day and by night time it has pretty much thawed out but don't trust anything after that lol. I mainly want it for storage, just so I can keep all my cookware stuff in it, and some grub for the day. I don't need it to keep meals frozen for days as I have a tescos that's a 5 minute walk from the bank, so normally do a shop in there each day while doing a lap of the lake πŸ‘πŸ€£

Anyone use a separate holdall/bag for their cooking stuff? Thinking about getting a large coolbag so it can carry everything for cooking?
  9. I've always liked making fishmeal baits with fish/spice flavours and sweet flavours with a nut/milk bait only because that's what seems right in my head lol. I remember someone saying that flavours have caught more fishermen than carp 🀣
  10. I've got the atts aswell, nice alarms once I found out how to turn the vibration setting off on the receiver 🀣 Might sound mad but the only thing I don't like is the shape of them, could do with with being more chunky 🀣
  11. I've had this before when fishing tight lines mate, it registered on the tip of the rod before the receiver/alarm lol. I think with the line being tight its going to register on the tip first before it takes line if that makes sense πŸ€” I'm currently fishing with my lines quite slack, with the bobbins as low as they will go. I'm using a leadclip that's "running" so the swivel pulls out easily. I'm fishing 5 wraps at the moment and want the leadcore leader and line on the deck as much as possible lol. The fish in here are apparently really weary of tight lines and will most likely spook if coming in contact with them πŸ€” Fishing at range seems much less complicated 🀣

    Didn't take long 🀣🀣🀣
  13. Moved 4 times today, first spot on the 9 acre lake got done by the birds so moved further down, so I've set up found a clear spot, some guy has set up opposite me so had to move as I was fishing into his water. The 3rd swim I got to didn't last long as I was getting the rods out and started moving my kit I started to find ticks on my rod sleeves and quiver? No idea where they came from but it spun me out so moved down to the 4 acre lake, I'm quite happy with the spot I'm in as it's the one I've been recently fishing. There's a lot of fizzing going on over the spot I baited previously and there's a few fish showing in this bay so I've stuck 3 singles out over the spot, if it doesn't produce tonight I'll put some more bait out but for now I just want to keep the disturbance to a minimum lol. What a day, feels good to have a beer 🀣

Sticky popups have done me well over the years mate and they are only like Β£6 a tub lol. I'm not a buoyancy guru but they stay popped up screwed onto spinner rig for 24 hrs πŸ‘πŸ€£

    March catch reports

9 tench in total, safe to say they love my bait 🀣 Spoke to a few anglers over the last couple days and learnt a bit more about the lakes, they are saying pva bags/small amount of bait and being mobile is the best approach, spodding out quite a bit is asking for trouble as I found out 🀣 Gonna pick up a few bits from the tackle shop later and get on the solid bags I think. Gonna start using the brolly without a groundsheet again and just keep most of the stuff on the barrow so its easier to move lol. The hide xl is a wicked bivvy with a groundsheet but once it's all setup I can be a bit reluctant to move as it feels like ive set up camp🀣

Yes mate, 4 tench so far. Gonna stay another night, feeling optimistic πŸ‘πŸ€£

    March catch reports

2 tench so far, last one ripped off like a carp πŸ’€πŸ€£
  20. Yeah mate they don't seem to be as bad on this lake, I've had a few coots pick up the odd boilie but ain't being done by them yet. I've just had a tench about 3 - 4lb so atleast there's something grubbing around there, hopefully the carp ain't far behind πŸ‘
  21. Not gonna catch them at home lol, done a lap of the lake and haven't seen anything so jumped in the swim I know the layout of, I'm fishing into an open spot of 6ft -7ft of water, a little bit of silt with weed surrounding itπŸ‘ I'm getting a nice donk with the leads so baits should be presented nicely πŸ‘
  22. Feeling a bit defeated this morning, no fish and got absolutely done by bird life yesterday, had swans, coots and ducks smashing my spot, they kept picking up my rigs and dropping them off the spot, pulling pop offs etc. Probably redone each rod about 10 times yesterday I couldn't keep one in the water 🀣 Packed up this morning and drove round to the other lake, just having a look now, the spot I normally fish is free, i could jump in there but I really cba 🀣🀣🀣

I've had the sonik sks cradle for years mate, great bit of kit that's had lots of use and has lots of life left in it, I keep it set up and just pile gear into it, carries my groundsheet, doormat, banksticks, net and camera tripod lol, it's also great for short sessions I could get all the gear in it like rods etc lol. Also has like a lid so if you use a fish in it, you can strap the cover over the top and move it etc if needed πŸ‘
  24. Done last night and had nothing, gonna stay on for another night or two, still chasing my first one from this lake πŸ‘πŸ€£
  25. I think the flex might help with range, depending how far you wanna hit you might be better off using some sort of groundbait/binder to roll it up into balls the size of tennis balls and fire them out with it πŸ‘
