I think I will have to try if I go any shorter mate, I've sort of found the sweet spot for it now, if not on the first cast I'm getting it on the second attempt 👌 No carp on this trip, did a 6lb tench this morning that ripped off like a carp 🤣 I'm off there now until Sunday, so baited the spot with half a bucket of particle which will hopefully keep it clean lol. Got so much to learn on this complex, I'm currently on a lake of 4 acres with 150 carp and only fished one swim so far lol. The next lake I wanna get on is just under 9 with about 150 - 180 carp they reckon. But it has more weedbeds, lilies and snags lol.

I caught a tench yesterday, as I reset the rod, a high double/ possible 20 swam under the rod tips 💀🤣 and to top it off I had a hook pull on a carp this morning 😬 Thanks for the advice though mate, its been a massive learning curve tbh, over the last few years I've been mainly on the reservoirs fishing 20 - 25 wraps with 3 rods fanned out over quite a big area, now I'm fishing two at 5 wraps on a small spot, it's been a nightmare trying to hit the clip properly and keeping them close together lol. Really enjoying it though 👍

Last couple weeks haven't been great with high pressure and ne cold winds, it's been bitter lol, but the temps are starting to rise, we've got low pressure coming in with sw winds, great time to be out 👌🤣 I've only had 1 carp in the last 10 sessions this year lol

This is the stuff I'm dealing with, the Gardner rake done well, my spot is pretty clean now and getting a decent drop with the leads 👌 was only gonna clear/prebait it but gonna do the night now 🤣

Lidls cream liquor and condensed milk are two that I use 👍 also used evaporated milk in the past 👍

Thanks mate, if I don't get far with raking it with the Gardner rake and baiting particles at the end of each session, I will give it a try 👍👍 I've been quite lucky over the last month I've been able to get on the same swim fishing to the same spot, at first there was a bit of weed out there but I started baiting heavily with particles at the end of each session and now I'm starting to get a nice donk with the lead. But by the sounds of it using lime will be more efficient 🤣

A few bits 👍 Does anyone know if putting your hooks into these korda rig spools will mess the hook point up? They are designed for chods and are made of foam 👍

Would it make the spot unfishable for a few weeks, like once the lime is on the spot, would fish avoid it? I've been and got a Gardner weed rake to put on my spod rod to try 👍

I think some areas are worse than others mate, I think moving forward I'm gonna fire out some chods and see how I get on, if they are burying themselves in it I will try dumping the lead 👍

It's an old clay pit mate, from what I gather it's the lake bed is clay with like a layer of sediment like leaves etc, it's got what I think is Canadian pond weed and lily beds, ill get some pics of the stuff I pull out next session 👍 I get what you're saying about dumping the lead mate so will probably just get some of them esp chod sleeves just to give a bit of separation from the rig and lead 👍 @ouchthathurt I will see what they've got in the shop later mate, I was also looking at the Gardner weed rake you can cast, I think they don't want you raking a swim and dumping it all in the hedge, but the stuff I've been pulling out has been going in the bay behind me lol

Cheers mate, when using a chod is it best to use a heli safe to dump the lead? I'm unsure if I should dump it or get some of them esp chod sleeves? I'm gonna get down again tomorrow or Monday and have a lead about as I don't think there will be many on with the weather coming in lol

I've started a new water this year and there's a lot of Canadian pond weed, or a similar type to that sort of stuff, I've managed to find a few holes and fish them, but most of the swims there's just loads of it and I haven't been able to find any spots. I'm not allowed to use a weed rake, so been baiting heavily after each session with particle hoping the fish and bird life can clear a bit of it. What sort of lead setup and rig presentation would be best fishing in amongst it? It's a bit flooded at the moment but when it goes down I plan on fishing the margins, probably just put the marker rod through them a few times and clear some of it lol. Any suggestions would be great as this is my first weedy water and I'm starting to feel a bit out of my depth 🤣

Would second hand be an option mate? I've got the indulgence ss4 wide boy and it's been an absolute game changer for me, I can do a week session on it without any issues lol. It handled me at 17 stone 🤣

This might sound daft but what is the purpose of having them separated? Like if you take it to the lake, do you not mix it up and bait up with it anyway? Sort of reminds me of the match boys with the different tubs of worms, casters, maggots etc lol

A lot of my waters have been ruined by otters tbh, there's not many being caught from the tidal anymore.. we've seen otters swimming about and found dead fish in the hedges and reeds etc, wasn't long ago we found a big mirror all chewed up in the hedge, was probably a 20+. The canal has lost a few old ones as well, it does get restocked by the local club but a lot of the old fish have gone. A local pond has got a fence up now but lost most of its original stock. They were really old fish, owners estimate were around 40 years old. I cant say for certain but they were apparently priory fish? I'm not too clued up on that though lol We've got otters on the reservoirs as well. They seem to be on all the unfenced waters around here 🤷‍♂️ It's a shame but tbh a lot of these waters I've stopped fishing, I still like a go on one of my reservoirs as there's still a good stock there and still some bigguns left, but I mainly fish a fenced complex now on a season ticket and moving forward I'm gonna spend most of my time here 👍

I've managed to scale it back to point where I can move without issue, I've gone from 5 rods to 3, dropped the pod for bank sticks, camera bag, two bait buckets, hold all and cooler bag to just the holdall, cooler bag and 1 bucket, ditched the chair, just gone back to sitting on the bed lol. I got to the lake earlier and there was someone in the swim I wanted so setup somewhere else, they ended pulling off so quickly packed down and moved lol 👍all fits on one load and feels much lighter lol.

It's got to that point again where its starting to take me two barrow trips to get all my gear to the swim, to many "just in case" items that never get used 🤣 I've managed to thin my gear out a bit hopefully only one trip next time lol. Also took a laptop with me for the last 10 sessions or so to watch films on but haven't once took it out the holdall 🤷‍♂️🤣 Back to the bare essentials for me 👌
