Hello, just joined this place on an annual ticket and have heard there are some big carp in. No info online though at all, anyone fished this place for carp?

    Β

    Thanks Paul

    Β

I used to fish it years ago for the pike, I didn't even know there were carp in there, have they been stocked? I do know many years ago it was a private trout fishery and when we pike fished one of my mates caught a 7 pound brown trout on a drifter float fishing a dead bait. Is it still on the Southport ticket?

You can get some amazing shots when you get used to the editing software, I use a couple of apps on my iPad to enhance too

What apps do you use Sparky?Β I wouldn't mind having a look at them and have a play around with them on my phone. πŸ™‚πŸ‘

HiTec Magnums are hard to find at the moment. The Nitehawk combat boots are good.Β

A couple of weeks ago I had to resort to chest waders to cross the outflow, and pull some weed out toΒ  get baits in the water, I got flipping freezing feet. Back on the bank and into the Nitehawk boots a lot warmer.Β

As Yonny says, warm legs help keep your feet warm. I've been wearing combat trousers with Hoogs Strathmoor over trousers over the top, but even with chesties they were cold.Β

The nighthawk boots look really good,Β  could you tell me if they are waterproof, i can't find it anywhere in the information.Β

That is some broom handle my man. Would it be possible that you have a 50mm butt ring on these rods?Β

I've used these for 6 years, no issues whatsoever and I like that it grips the rod incase you get a hard take. (I wishπŸ™„)Β

I've been using these same ones myself for the last three years on the Daiwa g50 rods no issues what so ever.πŸ™‚πŸ‘πŸŽ£

Just got back from 48 hours down at Bluebell lakes.

I got off to a flyer withΒ 7 takes 4 landed in the first afternoon, thank goodness I had a few bags ready - with mild temps and rain all day I managed to drop in the right place at the right time and get a few bites before it switched back off.

The following day I was ready for the afternoon carnage but nothing happened, in hindsight the fish had probably moved down the other end with the weather, being the complete opposite to the day before- clear skies and cool temps.

Guess there will be some bangers out this weekend.

Tie an overhand knot in the leader, but don't pull tight. Thread your mainline through the knot, and then tie a grinner or uni knot around the leader, wet and pull both knots tight. As habit I lighter tag the ends.Β

    Β

I've used this knot for years, both carp fishing and sea fishing.Β

I used this knot for years while shore fishing with no problems what so ever.πŸ˜πŸ‘

I only use live bait if there are no pike present.Β

I nice whole prawn is always a good one too.Β

    Β

Totally agree wouldn't use live bait if there were pike in the water, I usually use lob worm and prawns so I will probably stick with them I normally do ok, its just finding the bigger perch in the pond I know they are in there. Location location. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

Just to let you guys know me and a friend we’re going to use live bait for the cats but we’re told that to do that we had to inform the EA that we were doing so Β  Also the livebaits had to come out of the same water you were fishing

It is years since I used liveΒ  baits the rules have probably all changed. The rule on using them from the water you are fishing has always been in place as far as I know. πŸ˜πŸ‘

I don't know if it's allowed or whether you are comfortable with it but a small live bait is a great bait for picking the bigger ones out.Β

    Β

Doesn't bother me at all mate I used live bait for my pike fishing for years but that's something I will have to check on in my latest club waters.Β

    2lb 4 mate. Had a few more around the 1lb mark.Β

The target is a 4lber this winter if I get enough opportunity.Β

    Β

I'm hoping to start my perch fishing in the next couple of weeks, my best is 1lbs 10oz so anything bigger than that will do me. πŸ˜πŸ‘πŸŽ£
