Been using my new QD reels for a bit now and I quite like them actually. I do find them pretty easy to use and I've got it in my head now how much of a turn to give them to get the drag roughly right with the minimum amount of fiddling.

    ย

Just a thought though I'm out pike fishing today and using running rigs as you would expect. Do you think they have more resistance than baitrunner systems? I'm wondering if I'm more likely to get dropped runs especially with pike when using QDs. Does anyone use their QDs for pike fishing too?

I do use qd reels for pike fishing but you want as little resistance as possible so I use them with open bail arms, as I would with any type of reel while pike fishing. ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽฃ

I had one bream and that was it, lots of canoes out which didnโ€™t help but I will try again soon ๐Ÿ‘ Iโ€™ve just got to a reservoir for a night or two, maybe three depending on how it goes ๐Ÿ˜‚

Good luck mate ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘.ย I'm chewing at the bit to get on the bank but I've got horrible thing called work in the way.๐Ÿ˜‚

Iโ€™m quite excited to get back on the tidal stretch, still craving a 20lber ๐Ÿ˜† got an hours work at 9, done at 10 and will heading straight to the river. Got tigers, corn and krill soaked boilies on the ready. High tide at 11am so plan on fishing high tide down to low and catch them on their way down. Thatโ€™s the plan anyway ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

    ย

    anyone else out?

Good luck mate, I hope your plan comes together and youย catch a chunky river carp.๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽฃ

  4. Well I've gone 11 months without wetting a line but just recently I've been getting that urge again. I joined a new club in January 2020 and with the pandemic and family stuff not really had the use of it and to tell you the truth the few times I did go i didn't really jell with the waters or some of the other members, a bit clicky to say the least. But as I said just recently I have been getting that urge again, so the plan is to go back to my other club and start over, I won't be able to do any nights on there at the moment I'll have to wait for a night ticket that's if can get one. Also a mate of mine has bought a farm and there's a pond on there only a couple of acres if that but it was stock with carp years ago and they are still in there no idea of size or numbers but it's free fishing and no other anglers, So I've got my own pond and I will be doing nights on there. First job is to get up there and do some leading about and plumb the depth. Sorted all my gear today and the urge is even stronger now, not sure when my first trip out will be because of work and life but I'll keep watching YouTube and keep that urge going till I can get out. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽฃ

Yeah I saw a couple of YouTube videos that showed how much difference the correct load can make so I'll definitely be having a practice with the gear to see how it feels.

Is it quite common to get punctures? I did consider waiting for all terrain wheel version but carp porter couldn't give a date for restocking so I opted for the fat boy instead.

My Barrow has an inflatable tyre and touch wood I've not had any punctures, but you can buy the puncture proof wheels, I'm sureย  carp porter sell them as an extra or get one of ebay as long as you get the right size.๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘

I got the fat boy with the feeling that if anything it should be more stable than the other barrows. It arrives today so looking forward to having a play! I think I'll take it easy with it on the first session as it sounds pretty common to tip it over....no doubt I'll be that numpty!!

Have a practice at home, to me it's about getting the loading right. I had a cheap Barrow and that was terrible to push no matter how you loaded it. I now have a diawa Barrow and it's a dream to push the balance on it is perfect, when it's loaded right it pushes that easily it doesn't feel like there's anything on it and no strain on your arms at all. You will love having a Barrow if you haven't had one before it makes life so much easier getting to and from the lake.๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽฃ

You done much on number 1? I'm on there now, got one rod to margins of far tree bank and one in open water just at the edge of the rocks about 6-6.5 wraps. My adjustable zig kits are only due to be delivered today so unfortunately can't give that a go just yet but it's not exactly nice hot weather today anyway so I'll remain confident!!

    Only just seen your post if I'd seen it earlier i would of nip up for a chat but going to bed shortly I'm working tonight. ๐Ÿ˜ญย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย i can't really help you mate not actually carp fished there much, spent more time piking, goodluck mate let us know how you get on. ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽฃ

I've had one or two carp out of number 2 many years ago. I've actually never fished number 1 but will definitely give it a go on a day session. I've just been wanting to fish bigger less commercial waters and saw they'd done some peg development over winter and thought I'd rejoin.

A regular that spoke to me on the day said to get on zig rigs. I have to admit I find it a technique that I can't get confidence in.

Zigs on no2 quite tricky being 40ft deep and around 16 ft at the shallow end but I think you would have to use adjustable zigs and the same on no1 that being 25ft, but if that's what's catching give it a go mate.๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽฃ

    Hi Pablo,ย

I'm on the Wigan Night Card Ticket, never even ventured to Heapeys yet, only stuck to Wigan Waters, Figure 8, Fan Lodge... Broke my 7month blank on there at Weekend....ย

On the night Card ticket it's only Fan Lodge & Heapey 2.ย

The night ticket is fan and heapey 1, no2 is part of the syndicate now but you can do days only on there, you can also do days only on no3. I've fished no2 a few times very hard water for the carp.

Seems a bit silly to start a thread for March on the 29th but hey-ho.

Managed 2 days on the bank this weekend which a rarity for me nowadays. It was clear they weren't exactly having it which is standard for March so it was singles and zigs all the way. Had some crazy conditions; massive winds, brutal rain, freezing cold and blazing hot sun, pretty much everything bar snow!

Had a little cricket-bat common on the zigs and a slightly better mirror on a pub-chucked pop up. My first carp this year and did see a few so it looks like winter is finally over.
