B B Posted August 24 Report Posted August 24 On 18/08/2025 at 22:37, salokcinnodrog said: Oh grief! I am so wound up. My father is 84, and has dementia so my brother and I split visits with him a few times a week each as he is still independent and living on his own. Today was my day, and I had to be there from 10am until his normal medication delivery arrived, but immediately after had to go pick up his antibiotics prescription from Boots and do him some shopping, which involved a trip into town. So one of the 'homeless' trying to 'help' at the car park ticket machine, in other words beg. This idiot chose to give me verbals in Ipswich town centre, and then decided to try to push me when I refused his assistance as I paid on my card. I put him down and left him tangled up in the post at the car park. Got back to my car and he was taking photos of my car. He then tried to carry on with the mouth and wanting to fight. I just picked his bike up and moved it and him out of the way. You can see what happened to his trousers when I left him attached to the post by the waistband Iv had a run in with a deliver bike he must have been going 20mph he skidded to a stop and we both went down, sadly I lost my balance as I got up and stood on his front wheel damaging the spokes then would you believe it trying to untangle my foot I stepped on the back wheel 🫢 elmoputney, kevtaylor, crusian and 2 others 1 4 Quote

commonly Posted August 28 Report Posted August 28 I don't ever want a repeat of yesterday. A friends lake, troubled with 2 large fallen trees, excessive Canadian and pond weed, lack of any rain (which usually helps keep good water quality). 8 gone, between 15-30lb. Sad day Golden Paws, kevtaylor, yonny and 2 others 5 Quote
salokcinnodrog Posted Thursday at 22:17 Author Report Posted Thursday at 22:17 I really don't know where to start! It's been a difficult few weeks with my dad in hospital since a fall at his flat in August. Just when we thought he was recovering, he had a chest infection turn into pneumonia while in the rehab community hospital at Aldeburgh, so got rushed back to Ipswich Hospital A&E on Saturday night, where he has been ever since. Back in August I made a long Facebook post https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1JEEY9X2sB/ yonny, buzzbomb, kevtaylor and 1 other 4 Quote
yonny Posted Friday at 06:11 Report Posted Friday at 06:11 Sorry to hear that @salokcinnodrog. I hope he pulls through. Those waits @ A&E you refer to in your FB post are horrendous. A very close friend of mine had a stroke last week. He was taken to hospital and dumped in A&E for 12 hours before receiving any treatment. It's completely unacceptable. crusian, salokcinnodrog and kevtaylor 1 2 Quote

Back in August I made a long Facebook post https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1JEEY9X2sB/ Hi Nick Sorry I've just read your post . So how is your Dad at the moment , please ? . I recently took my Wife to A&E , Ipswich Hospital , and we were in there overnight for 12 hours , so I know exactly what it's like . You were great in keeping your temper under control under stressful circumstances , I could have quite happily punched the first hospital employee I saw who just wound me up . My Mum had dementia , and it became too hard for her to live at home so she went to live in a friendly care home in the village . Fortunately I didn't have to deal with a social worker , just a care home Manager with empathy , and knew what she was doing . Take care . 😃 Quote

He has managed to get around using a walking frame with the physio. crusian and yonny 2 Quote

When your Dad is back at Aldeburgh hopefully you can draw breath , and relax a little after your difficult few weeks . With these big winds , and rain of late they should be biting down your syndicate . 😃 Quote

He needs the social time with my brother and myself so every other day I will have to visit him until he can get into a full time care home. Quote

I just wanted you to have some " Nick time " so your head didn't explode . I should have remembered how important hospital visits are from when I was in hospital , and my Wife visited me . All the very best . salokcinnodrog 1 Quote

Believe me if the syndicate was close enough to the hospital I would fish and visit him as well, but a 60mile drive from North Suffolk to Aldeburgh is not a possibility. I've had some 'Nick time', even if it involved a blank chub chase and two lost end tackles in a snag, and daughter and Granddaughter time with a trip to Norfolk Quote

A granddaughter who pinched and ate a couple of chunks of luncheon meat dusted in turmeric and garam masala... Bromeswell is on a few estate agents and as much as I would love it... crusian 1 Quote

No wonder that you didn't catch any Chub if your Granddaughter is eating your bait ! . Maybe Carp.com could club together and buy Bromeswell 😁 Quote
