  1. Hi Nick sadly we had to move quickly to secure it and we filled the available slots quite quickly. Hopefully next time it won't be so rushed.
  2. Hopefully people can understand why we had to be a little covert about it now it is booked now so all fine. We've assembled a crack team of carp.com members ready to take on the challenge
  3. Just wondering if big commons have a colour preference 😂
  4. Hi guys, if you are interested we could really do with a quick response but it is a special lake with some special fish, certainly a chance of breaking a pb 😎
  5. Not sure if it is the same or any good but it is out there still. https://forgottenflavoursofficial.com/en-gb/products/green-zing-flavour-concentrate?srsltid=AfmBOooMCNfVgalm8SMXLAAZndevWWLb3BMpXBvkkNPVUeWHw9U-bla9 Personally I think hookbait colours come down to contrast against the lake bed or surroundings. That's kind of why I like washed out pink or white because I think it stands out against weed and silt. I've never used these pop ups BTW but the idea behind them makes a lot of sense to me.
  6. Pink is officially the best alternative colour pop up, as voted by carp.com.
  7. https://tacklebox.co.uk/starting-carping/rods-en-2/tackle-box-darent-valley-specimen-rod-11ft-3lb/ Not used them myself but people seem to think these are good value for money.
  8. Looks like white and yellow are. Most popular get your votes in it closes tonight?
  9. Nearly forgot the first fish of the year from the carp.Com social, was good spending some quality time with @commonly and @dalej2014 I did have to move and be antisocial but it paid off 😂 Might be worth starting to plan next year's soon ?
  10. I've pretty much just enjoyed all my sessions this year. They've all been pretty memorable even the blank where I snapped my rod and caught a pike was good but first time on a new lake and I got to catch a new 31lber which I got to name snowball has to be right up there. But this one also, I worked so hard whilst being ill including a move to get on the fish it's a special one to me And some I caught with the kids in a mega summer session And how could I miss out my daughters first 20lber Been a great year, hopefully more to come.
  11. I have a 7ft greys stalker rod that will do for the odd occasion I need it, my daughter uses it more than me though these days, I just like having 3 rods out, then I'm happy to sit watching the water, and working out my next move.
  12. I recently bought a couple of 9ft xtractors and pretty quickly sold them. I used them a couple of times but they just don't feel like a proper fishing rod. I have also used 10ft rods and they didn't seem as unusual. But I think I've come to the conclusion I just like 12ft rods. What I did like was the space they saved and how compact they were packed up. But otherwise a 12 footer is a better all rounder for me. If you are being mobile all the time and stalking lots or for a specific job, then maybe but as an all purpose rod I just think they are a bit limiting.
  13. Yeah definately about confidence, my usual starting point is washed out pink, then white. Then If it's really not going well a yellow tutti lol
  14. Why don't you weigh it to see if it is the correct amount.
  15. Which colour alternative hookbait is going to save a blank? Match the hatch doesn't count.
  16. Done some more shopping this afternoon 2 packs of korda sz11 spinner swivels #NoRing 2 packs of size 4 ESP trighammer XT 1 pack or esp claw hammers size 4 For an out the pack hook the esp range are pretty sharp, and the trig hammer XT is the right version of the trig hammer, it's a lot less flexible and still really sharp, I was getting loads of hooks coming back burred when using sharpened hooks, mainly when using wafters,so far the trig hammers have all came back sharp even with a straight point, although I think I will be switching more to pop ups again to try and beat the nuisance fish and that common this weekend restored my faith in the washed out pink proper jobs 🙏
  17. I've seen them doing that, just sitting there terrorising the poor rudd who just want to eat a free meal. They like yellow pop ups, waiting till you've broken your rod and reel and you are trying to retrieve your end tackle, following in my rigs, then just being so knackered they have to recover in the margins for a while. If pike were human they would definately take any opportunity to loot a greggs after 8 cans of Stella and a riot.
  18. This might be controversial 😱 I think pike are a bigger nuisance than bream.
  19. I also just bought a front for my axs shelter, I really like having a bivvy that goes up really quickly these days and with all that rain the other day I thought it would benefit a front so when I saw one for £45 it seemed like a good deal. I also bought 50m of ridgemonkey bait floss for £2.99, some fox Micro anti tangle sleeves and nearly 2000 metres of 8lb sufix line for £2.99 (will use for backing my spools) Gotta love a good deal.
  20. I've recently stopped using leaders in favour of ESP tungsten tubing. Sinks really well tbh. Fox inline lead with a fox tadpole insert with tubing. I don't push the lead on fully just onto the ridged bit then it can run free on a take, seems to be working quite well, I would like to find a company that does inlines with the same bore as fox as I want some bigger inline leads if anyone knows any that would be great?
