Get more people ACTIVELY PARTICIPATING

That sounds nice, i want to go back to France, my family aren't so keen on a fishing holiday again though, would need to be a special venue to convince them. Otherwise I think I've just got to wait a few years and go by myself 😂 -

Yeah same as, kind of why I like talking about it 😉 -

Yeah I will just get a 5kg bag of base mix and small amounts of additives to play with before scaling it up. I've got a manual gun for now, but if I was going to start rolling more think I would want a luxury electric caulking gun or something similar. I'm too old for manual labour 😂

I think It looks alright on paper, if it rolls, smells OK and sleighs any water it goes in, it will be just fine 😂

Thanks for the positive comment I've become obsessed with it this last week 😂 The spice mix was something I thought might be too high tbh I could just start at 2.5% as recommended and add a little more basemix, I could also add more of something else like yeast or an attractor powder but I really want to leave that unless is doesn't work or I feel it needs a tweak. I'm only going to be testing with small batches to start anyway.

Hi guys over the past few weeks I've got into the idea of making my own baits rather than buying shop bought. I've tried to think of a mix that should be soluble, and leak attraction quickly and work all year round, for some reason I've wanted to go spicy and creamy at the same time. I am going to use the AA Baits base mixes for now in order to keep it a little more simple. I am starting with the HNV Super red mix which contains: Large amount of Kingfisher Red (Natural), Red Meggablend, Genuine CLO, Hemp Powder, Mixture of Nut ingredients, Combination of high end Milk & Egg proteins and Betaine to name just a few ingredients in this mix. Powders 90 % HNV Super Red mix 5% Blue Cheese Powder 5% my own spice mix (garlic, fenugreek, chilli powder and more Milk B powder 10g per kilo Liquids Egg Fermented chilli extract 50ml a kilo Scopex flavour at 5ml per kilo Do you think that is good? I am trying to not throw the kitchen sink at it presently,

Total fishing tackle and Johnson Ross both have Complex T in stock. There were quite a few others if you Google it. Johnson ross even do a bulk discount offer. https://johnsonrosstackle.co.uk/dynamite-frozen-boilies/18538-dynamite-baits-complex-t-bulk-frozen-boilie-deal-5kg.html

I found this short vid on pillows, they do look pretty decent to be fair, he used a 16mm sausage on a 14mm table for this. Dumbells seem to be the opposite 14mm sausage on an 18mm table for example.
-
Very sensible investment.
-
I really didn't say about boiling it twice, I just meant like nick said where you boil the sausage and then cut it. I'm trying to avoid having to roll them for speed it would be good if I could just line up all the sausages and chop once and boil.
-
I think I might not have been clear enough lol, I don't want to boil them twice, I would just prefer to cut the sausage first when it's still a paste so I can boil it afterwards. So I can get a full skin on the baits, I would also like to keep them kinda cylindrical The main reason I don't want to boil them first and leave some unsealed is because of the Rudd, they would destroy them in minutes. I might some and treat them as pellets but the bulk I want to seal. I think if I am going to do it it's got to be easy, so i want to just mix, sausage, chop and boil, pillows might not be so bad but I would like to try and keep them dumbellish, so I am trying to think of a way to cut the sausages with minimal deformation.

Yeah best to not venture down that rabbit hole 🐰🕳️😂 Capitalism would have taken it in other ways. Like now if you want to get popcorn at the cinema it will cost you nearly £100 for a family movie. At least you can still look at your fishing stuff even if you don't have time to go.
-
I had to work it out it was frying my brain lol, it's just over 20kgs a day of baiting, doesn't seem so excessive that way, but that's a lot of spodding. He must have arms like popeye,i would have to use a bait boat I think.

If it wasn't for fishing we would all be millionaires

I have been off work with the old Co vid this week. And I've been spending time looking at bait making, god knows why but there we are, I think it started with something about an electric caulking gun I saw, then I went full production mode, then I saw a comment saying "if you are making your own, the last thing you want to do is make them round" So I got to thinking what is the best way to cut paste sausages without them all going out of shape (like with a knife) has anyone used a pizza cutter for this task? I've seen the method where you boil the sausage first and then chop but I would like to boil after cutting if possible to seal the boilies if I can. I've developed a simple nut mix using AA Baits base mix with a couple of extras but keeping it simple. Probably won't save much in cash terms but I would have a fresher, better bait which might increase catch rate and be more attractive to the carps and different to most anglers on the bank with their round balls.
-
Oh yeah it would be a dream to have that sort of time for a trip, maybe one day Kev. I guess you get out what you put into it, In my head that amount of bait doesn't even fit in a van 😂
-
That seems a lot still and a lot of preperation. Must have cost a small fortune.

Is that just boilies?
