  1. Lots of interesting things in these videos which will make you realise even when you think you are spodding accurately you could be way off the mark πŸ˜‚πŸ˜±πŸ˜±πŸ˜±
  2. You never know though. You got to be in it to win it.
  3. I definately have done that lol, even last weekend I did πŸ˜‚ I'm just not confident without bait around them, fishing singles seems alien to me, I just don't see how it could work lol, I know it does but it's a real leap of faith that I just can't make, I should probably work on that this winter. I've certainly got enough different pop ups to try πŸ˜‚
  4. I remember watching an underwater film with Rob Hughes, that was interesting really showed how it could look bang on with a marker but still be way off depending on rod angle, depth and stuff, I will try and find it and put it in the new section for you tube videos
  5. Also we didn't get snow just cold and wet rain.
  6. Good luck, I went last weekend so I'm not even going to ask lol. I am also picking my new British record bait up Saturday πŸ˜‚
  7. I can't ever just do one spomb imagine being confident that it was perfectly placed when you have factors like braid vs mono, stretch, tow, depth and judging that it landed exactly right where you put your rig. My starting point is usually at least 6. Even pulting boilies a handful nearly always turns into a couple of handfuls.
  8. Too much bait is underrated tbh, misplaced spods lead to creating a bigger spot which more carp can visit πŸ˜‚ I do get what you are saying though these spots still need to develop if you don't regularly bait them, then the fish probably won't find them and keep returning. I guess that is probably where the advantage lies. It would be a lot more discreet prebaiting with a boat also, spombing in loads of bait seems hard to do without being spied on. In the defence of the guy that showed me he is a decent angler who would have caught them despite the boat, and he also puts more effort in than most, walks it a lot and always seems to know what's going on and he has caught a lot of the decent ones.
  9. Let's go buddies, this channel is worth a follow some great little videos for DIY liquids and stuff.
  10. 20kg of boilies ordered, I've always wanted a decent yellow banana boilie, turns out the bait company I use had the same idea, will go nicely with my yellow winter spod mix.
  11. I would get your money back tbh and buy a different reel, okuma do a spod reel for similar money
  12. Not sure how effective that would be unless it's shallow and gin clear. If you want to see the bottom you probably want a winch cam of some sort.
  13. I had a sonik spod reel, the factory braid was horrible it also kept snapping, I changed it for some 35lb spider braid, then the reel seized and wouldn't turn, if you can just rub the back of the line clip with a bit of fine sandpaper that should get rid of the burr.
  14. Having seen what I saw yesterday a decent angler with a bait boat can certainly do things you can't with a rod and line, I watched someone drop a good handful of bait and rig on an actual bin lid sized gravel spot at about 28 wraps in open water, you wouldn't even find that spot with a lead I don't think, if you did you would probably give up before you found it again. certainly made me regret selling mine a bit. He had a winch camera on it, was pretty amazing to see what lies beneath tbh.
  15. What if you fished with a bait boat too though would your results have been even better?
  16. That they should, sales would go through the roof, couldn't use all their products though, they would need a lightweight bivvy before I signed the contract πŸ˜‚
  17. I think I might get the particle plate after all, just watched a video tigers come out a nice size and dave levy said about crushing maize that's got to be an edge right there, crushed maize, tigers and hemp and a little crumb and chops, the carp would be wetting themselves with joy at that mix,
  18. I can't believe you haven't either they are so useful πŸ˜‚and you can make your bait go twice as far in a short space of time , I don't use the crusher that often but this time of year I do use a bit of crumb, and it's handy when I need it, you can also crush pellets that's a good thing to do, Ridgemonkey is miles ahead in this department, they make kordas bits look like they come out of smyths toy superstore.
  19. 3 avid for the tried and tested Ronnie, and the other two for a solid bag /method feeder rig I have decided I want πŸ˜‚ I never bothered with the particle plate, I had a similar thing with tigers, I put them through again and it crushed them a bit more, I also think the PP would just turn boilies into dust, I quite like there is still chunks, I also have a couple of choppers they work a treat make light work of halving baits, need to stay fairly close to the size they recommend though as the blade flexes if the boilies are too small for the chopper.
  20. Little bit more stuff today 3 packs of large avid d rig kickers, Avid QC lead clips and tail rubbers 10 off Some ridgemonkey d rig kickers and also some gardner d rig kickers. Turns out I mainly bought kickers 😳
  21. Can't do this with a spomb though can you?
  22. Oh really I didn't know that, that would've been a feature to brag about when they have so many people complaining about them not opening πŸ˜³πŸ˜‚
  23. Apparently spombs now have a setting which you can click/adjust in the nose that makes them open easier, X spod is still better though.
  24. Agreed if a krimp isn't right it will slip. I always listen for that clicking sound when I crimp them, then I pull them enough to see if they will slip. The gemini booms are decent to be fair I have used them myself
