Maybe just wait and put new line on those, you might find after you use the line a bit it beds down and sits better. -

If its abrasion resistance you seek. You want gt80+ or Gardner hydrotuff. Hydrotuff is so tough, chuck Norris uses it to winch Elon Musks rockets back to earth. -

Sounds to me like your line is too thick for the reels if it isn't sitting right, personally, I don't like to scrimp on line I use Gardner gt80+, most Gardner lines will break above the stated BS I've just loaded 12lb but that is a 0.35mm line and will break above 15lb. Also stop worrying about what that bloke said to you, I've only used 18lb when it's really weedy and snaggy and that's pretty extreme. Google tackle box line test and have a look for the right line for you. -
Yeah thinking about it I've been pretty slow remembering things and not as sharp as usual, I just thought that was getting older but now I've got an excuse brilliant thanks 😂

Thanks that's good to know I had looked at those I quite liked the fact they came at the right length too, I don't want to go too thin on Mainline because of weed, normally I use that in 0.37mm and it doesn't cast awfully so I am hopeful I can make up the distance by dropping down one size. I just want the leader for a crisper feeling cast really and the confidence to whack it a bit harder.

Hi guys I am planning to do some longer distance lead chucking this winter and was thinking I might want to use a leader? I'm ordering some 17lb katran line 0.33mm and was thinking of using either a tapered mono leader or shock leader to make it easier and less crackoffy. Which one would you go for?

I use innovate baits shelf life nowadays reaper nut mix has been my go to for the last couple of years, they are also decent, I think you might find shelf life have come on a long way in recent years, I'm converted now tbh love the simplicity you get with shelf life, just tip em in a bucket and off you go, None of that defrosting malarkey.

I didn't think I could swing that either but he who dares, I think the fresh air did me good much better than staying home feeling sorry for yourself, just go fishing and feel sorry for yourself. And if you catch one it's a nice bonus 😂

Nice, will look good attached to a british record 😎

I had it the other week, tested Friday after feeling rough Thursday evening, and quite a few of my colleagues did too. Wasn't that pleasant but rather than spreading it with my family and isolating at home,I got out the house after cleaning it before they came home, and I spent 2 nights isolating on the bank, it wasn't easy I would do stuff then have a long rest, but I ploughed through, I even moved to the other end of the lake, that was tough going, but I could've spent 2 nights blanking and when I got a chance to fish for two nights, I couldn't waste it. My family didn't all catch it so we all did OK.

Oh no, Probably covid mate lots of it about, I had it the other week wasn't great, hope you feel better soon.

The best carp rig ever https://www.instagram.com/reel/DA8lMvngy2k/?igsh=MThtYXUyY2s1bTRweA==

That's as far as I am going, Well maybe I needed to see what an obstacle looked like But that's it 😂
-
No, no it won't, I don't want to get involved. I'm gonna maintain I don't care 😂😂

I could, I have some sensitive scales at work, I do feel that may be some next level stuff though 😂 Perhaps with tank testing and a set of scales you could also measure out the perfect amount of putty required for your rig to make it perfectly balanced 😬 korda rig skales anyone? Tbh I think the weight of a marker swivel vs say a quick link swivel probably wouldn't be that much different. Negligible
-
Well good luck hope you bag a biggie

You are the founding father of spending on tackle 😂
-
You can crimp tricklink works quite well, I've only got in 25lb and that's a bit too stiff, if you are concerned about your rig not sitting right you can always lengthen the boom, with the 15lb it does have some flexibility. Since messing with it in the margins I am convinced it's a lot less visible. I will use it with a lead clip, but I am mainly using inline leads at the moment and have been playing with shorter booms quite successfully. Another thing I haven't done yet but might consider is using a marker ring swivel, rather than a kwik change, I think because of the big ring it's more likely to sit well on the bottom. Something to think about anyway.

I do get why people prefer braided hooklinks they are stronger you would struggle to break them by pulling them, also sitting funny that's why I prefer the 15lb it is a lot more supple than the thicker heavier ones. My preferred spots are usually smooth clay/slightly silty spots tbh
