  1. I have tried those and while they are fine if you are using a coated braid and you knot it, I am using boom and have to Krimp it and leave a loop, this leaves a gap between swivel and krimp and that seems to lift further off the deck by the addition of a sinker, I am getting some atomic jellywyre delivered today so will have a play with that also but I do just like the boom as it is less visible and makes a nice neat boom section.
  2. After having a little play with sinkers and some putty last night, I decided I didn't like the way the sinkers make the rig sit off the deck, the hook and bait looked almost like it was floating, I attached some putty to the swivel and instantly thought that's better, however I don't want to attach putty to the swivel as it will fall off, or stop the rig working as it should, so I got straight online to purchase some korda dark matter balancing weights. I went for the heaviest ones, hopefully these will be heavy enough to hold down the proper jobs. If not it will be back to the drawing board. I did also try different sized loops, with the sinkers, small loops could leave it presenting oddly, and bigger loops just sat off the deck too much but left it presented well everytime. Fancy thinking I was finished with this rig lol
  3. Spinner rig with a D rig kicker for me. Wide gape or long gape for wafters and bottom baits, trig hammer XT or wide gape for pop ups depending on height required, I also switch between ringed spinner swivels and non ringed spinner swivels for height,
  4. Wow, well done that's a beast, looks like it could drink 20 pints and still have a large kebab on the way home.
  5. Okuma inc6000 will probably be one of the best reels you could get in that budget, I haven't used them myself but @B B has them and likes them, I would definately get okuma though, they are brilliant value for money.
  6. Just had a bit of a touch at the fishing outlet spent £23 on atomic bits and bobs. 2 x 15lb weed green atomic jellywyre £7.99 each 1 x chodda bin £1.99 A balls out groundbait delivery sling 99p splodooosh 2 x shrink tube, And Some sinkers.
  7. Not Ronnie he invented the thing, reggie has always been a bit jealous of his success in the rig making fraternity maybe he worked alone to sabotage me.
  8. The powders will still seal any gaps made by the pellet I think, what I meant was try a mesh bag just with pellet and see if it breaks down quicker than the one with powders in That would solve the issue of non melting pva, it makes me think I really should just try the method feeder again. I put one in my bag the other week after we spoke about it I had two buckets yesterday that I could have wrapped round a method too, next time I will do it 😳
  9. I was having a play in the shallows this weekend as one of my rigs came in with pva blob still attached,(mesh stick) the actual mesh broke down pretty quickly but the knots stayed intact for a long while. I wonder if it is because you are using powders, because it is packed it might not be that soluble thus delaying the breakdown. Maybe try just some pellets or boilies or something that leaves gaps and see if that makes a difference against your bags.
  10. I will just use these again, I don't want to change the whole rig tbh. The large ones will hold down most pop ups I use tbh
  11. Yeah I was rolling it in my fingers until it softened up a bit. It might be that it was going on boom so didn't grip properly.
  12. I know you felt this morning with wind and rain and the mud. I was packed up and home in an hour 30 mins from breakfast to in the car that's a record for me.
  13. I've spoke to someone who knows it inside out and he doesn't think it is the krays, but could be small catfish and eels. Could've been anything I guess, I was putting putty on the krimps so should have held OK. Back to the tungsten sinkers I think. I've not had one of those go missing yet 😂
  14. Right I blanked but sadly I spent most of the night with a rig with no bait on and one probably 7 inches of the deck, one of my rigs the d rig kicker had snapped/been cut on the d rig, and one had no putty, I recast them this morning and in the wind one went right but got an ish drop so I left it while I sorted the other two rods. Had a couple of bleeps and I wanted it right so brought it in and guess what no putty again, (weed free too) So my question crayfish or does dark matter rig putty just fall off? one thing is certain I am going back to tungsten weights on my booms, don't know why I stopped really, putty is so unreliable in comparison.
  15. I might not have caught anything yet, but I have created a new fenland drain.
  16. It's a day of two halves Ron.
  17. Might as well be the puddle at the moment mate I'm not catching out of either 😂
  18. Why does it always rain on me? And always when I need a wee ☔😂😂
  19. Also if you don't want to spent loads on reels okuma will be your best bet, for the money they destroy all competition.
  20. Maybe just wait and put new line on those, you might find after you use the line a bit it beds down and sits better.
  21. If its abrasion resistance you seek. You want gt80+ or Gardner hydrotuff. Hydrotuff is so tough, chuck Norris uses it to winch Elon Musks rockets back to earth.
  22. Sounds to me like your line is too thick for the reels if it isn't sitting right, personally, I don't like to scrimp on line I use Gardner gt80+, most Gardner lines will break above the stated BS I've just loaded 12lb but that is a 0.35mm line and will break above 15lb. Also stop worrying about what that bloke said to you, I've only used 18lb when it's really weedy and snaggy and that's pretty extreme. Google tackle box line test and have a look for the right line for you.
  23. Yeah thinking about it I've been pretty slow remembering things and not as sharp as usual, I just thought that was getting older but now I've got an excuse brilliant thanks 😂
  24. I did actually used to use 8lb Sylcast I am that old lol, I used to use it with my 9ft ledger rod when freelining dog biscuits and all that fun stuff you forget about as you get older.
  25. You could buy it with green shield stamps it's that old 😂
