  1. I think if I needed to use my barrow more often I would look at those tbh. Seems quite a luxury though as I don't use one at the moment as I can mainly drive to the swim
  2. I think it will be fine reviews are all fairly positive tbh, if not I have another spool of gt80+ in stock, thats been good for the last year or so,
  3. Nothing but the best line lay with an 8k. Seriously though they are amazing reels, certainly the best ones I've ever owned shimano who?
  4. Respooled my reels and have added 3 new avid snag leaders, 2 with lead clips and one with a heli safe, all about a meter and a half or so, well pleased with my set up now. Laid them out on the fake grass and I couldn't see them. Just need to get fishing again now 😲
  5. Katran wild carp camo line installed. Looks nice I think, went on like a dream, next test is what does it cast and fish like. I have a feeling I'm going to like it but the proof is in the pudding.
  6. Range extender and the phone holder does seem to work quite well the Deeper doesn't cut out half as much tbh, and much better value than the Deeper range extender tbh
  7. That make sense Nick thanks, my usual leaders are normally just over a metre ish tbh and I never really need to go extreme distances at the moment, so I might just stick to that and it's also cheaper 😉 I've decided a grinner knot is good for tying swivels or (hybrid lead clips)or whatever too, I'm not a massive fan of helicopter set ups usually tbh, but there is a time when they are handy for presentation, like right now when the weed is right up to the lid and finding spots can be tricky. Because it comes on 100m spools though, I can chop and change it as required thanks,
  8. I've been having a play with the avid outline Mono camo snag leader I bought, and I've found a knot I am happy with the uni knot, I've tested it and it doesn't slip I made a big loop with two uni knots and the 12lb hydrotuff I used snapped before the knots (pulling for a break is extreme though and I do use stronger Mainline) but should I just use it in lengths of say a meter or lengths like you would a shock leader which I have seen some use (4-5 turns on the reel and half the drop) I am going to be using low stretch katran line once I respool and was thinking helisafe set up so I could have a chuck anywhere set up What are your thoughts please?
  9. She quite liked seeing it , she has caught them in a Disney game on her Nintendo switch so she enjoyed seeing one IRL,
  10. No carps just the creature from the black lagoon. Was nice though we spent the day chilling and listening to an audiobook with no grown ups to tell us off 😂
  11. No 2nd night, we both forgot they have swimming tomorrow. Got a few more hours and it's looking carpy as hell. A right old chop on the water Just add carps now
  12. Just caught a giant slimy slug, and korda durakord is rubbish thats my thoughts, I had a take in the night and think it was aborted as I didn't feel any kicks or owt, however bringing in a raft of weed the durakord loop on the lead clip gave way, not the first time this has happened, I always check them when I make them and have never had this happen with other leaders. So it is rubbish. I've only got eldest daughter with me and she wants to stay another night, she is going to ask mummy in a bit, wish me luck 😂
  13. Well usual story most of the lake is busy but the big bit only has one on the other side and us now with a bank to ourselves, had a bit of a mare getting the rods out first one boated, 2nd one boated then thrashed to a foam and boated. Then the 3rd boated, cast boated and boated again because the line got snagged on the Lillies, happy now though took a while, but I've seen a few showing though one right on my area, so maybe the other end being sewn up has pushed some out this way, hopeful anyway.
  14. Me and the girls are going again today, the dog is staying home as she is recovering from being speyed, got 1/2 pint of maggots for rudd, plus boilies and pellets all glugged to the max, hopefully we can clear out a netful of rudd again and maybe even catch a carp or two. Come on the carps
  15. Yeah mine is decent I like it.
  16. I have a wychwood mat it's great they also do a walled one that looks decent for the money https://www.tackleuk.co.uk/Shop/CarpFishingUnhookingMats/Wychwood-Tactical-Walled-Mat.htm
  17. Oops I did it again, was within walking distance and quite a bargain £36 vgc and with box, now I have to two reels that I don't really need 😂
  18. I have been trying to clear with particles this year only trouble is anglers seem to move in before the fish 😂
  19. Oh bum I forgot I had bought some breakaway leads off ebay last month 😂
  20. I've done a bit of raking in my time I love it,ideally I like it to settle down and have had a heavy dose of prebait but if needs must I have fished it there and then there is a guy that makes some good rakes called unique welding services his stealth rake is a great little tool tbh, by the time you've messed about getting the bits it's usually just as dear as buying one, I've actually bought one of his castable ones again this week but I also have the stealth rake its good https://www.uniqueweldingservices.co.uk/
  21. The pop ups always come in fine tbh, I might just have to use a hard hookbait or stick to pop ups or something, just really fancied using a snowman, just goes to show all my bait is being destroyed by them though, cos you can probably bet the freebies went first, that was an 18mm bait too, 24mm next I think 😲
  22. I used a straight from the bag one on a snowman last night it had been lightly glugged but some git had had it away and left the pop up when I reeled it in. Must have been those pesky rudd I reckon, payback for ejecting some of their family yesterday in the Rudd match,
  23. 2 nights still blanked, everyone seems to think it's gone moody recently, I just knew I needed to move, was unusually busy Friday but cleared a lot Saturday but with an entourage it wasn't happening, all in all was nice though the girls really enjoyed it it was like a mini holiday for them I think, hopefully we can get a couple more family sessions in over the summer Hols and maybe I'll even catch one, Might try being better organised next time it was quite spur of the moment and that didn't help my old brain as it did get a little stressful at points but we had some nice moments too so we'll call it a success lol I think planning is key for family fishing.
  24. We Finished 4th out of 7 with 14lb odd so not bad we just fished 1 whip between us and took shifts, my shift Was pretty much 5 hours whether I had the pole or not because I did all the slimy stuff, the lakes a lot emptier tonight so I've done some class swim poaching rather than move I went next door cast my marker and I am Fishing one rod across the next swim 🤣good angling or lazy I even used the boat 😲 got my middle rod out a bit further than last night and my other rod down the side on a nice clear spot just off some pads come on the near full moon carpies, The lake is about 140lb lighter of rudd now, still blooming loads though 😂 I forgot to say the kids were really keen to stay a 2nd night so we did 😂
