    Iv used the overhand knot in the leader but use a blood knot around the leader for my sea fishing great knot as above. 18 lb mainline and a 40lb leader when I got stuck up in the rocks I would have to clamp down on the spool and walk up the beach for a break.

    Woke up to my mates alarms going off at 1am, god there loud ! he’s a very slow getting up and out but it’s still on when he picks his rod up. White Heavy frost and a shiny moon looks lovely. Plays the fish for 5 mins is this the 30 at last ? ..... Um no it fell off. Gutter for him

    Well I’m fishing at last on a 24hr, the trip has been called off twice with Covid. Me an a mate booked a cabin nx to the lake il post some pics tomorrow.

    There used to be a small tackle shop above a hardware store near me the owner would always let us try a rod casting over the football pitch across the road from the shop to see if it suited us. Had my heart set on a rod had a cast but couldn’t compress the blank so it was a no no If you can try out a few all the better,good luck with your choice.

    For the members who are not aware of this tip ( hope it’s allowed Mods ) When your looking at a item you got a interest in hit the ‘watch this item’ button it’s under the Add to basket. Some times you will get a message back from the seller offering you a discount

    I favour the Fox black Label slik swingers (don’t know why they named them often a can of larger) I like the arms they stop side travel in the wind and the heads you get the best of both worlds like the Korda or free running. The arms are hard to get hold of tho.

    But Soooo incredibly frustrating when you see the line of bubbles head to your spot and then pass your spot without stopping, which has happened to me 🙄 I’ve had a carp go berserk when I underarmed a rig to a showing fish just past where I seen it show and promptly hit it 😞

    At Linear fisheries Oxford Maggots ... and then more maggots when we were allowed to spod them that is, up 6 pints at least with sweet corn... if I was fishing at distance I would drop some pebbles in the nose of the spod for the extra weight. I think the carp like soft baits when that water temperature drops. Hooks size 8-10

    I remember John Holden from the 80’s with Paul Kerry big names indeed always in Sea Angler Magazine...FYI his son is Lee Kerry the match angler, and 125yds with 4000 reels 👍
