I was air drying cell on a garden table, i said keep a eye on them to the Mrs I’m just popping out to get some beer. I was gone 20 mins tops, putting the beer away I noticed a magpie on the fence look at look at the size of that, that’s nothing the good lady says I counted 6 of them earlier. Needless to say the bait was gone and she didn’t get any beer

Iv used X line and found it wiry and also didn’t enjoy using it one bit.... but on a small water I fished that was 3-4 ft deep and with a family of swans it was invaluable and helped put two low 20’s on the bank. It casts better with a bigger spool on your reel and gets dirty but a wet wipe used now and then fixes that on your trip, after seeing how the line gets dirty I got into the habit of cleaning all my lines I use. Looking forward to hearing how you get on with the feeder pole it would have perfect on that small water.

She’s got a thick coat and looks fit, should keep you all fit walking her 👍

To spod or not a to spod that’s the question Last summer in a heatwave fishing a runs water that was 4ft deep but mostly 3 ft with the drought, anglers were spoding like it was the spoding Olympics. No fish coming out and still they piled it in. It would be all quiet then one would spod then another and another... I call it Spoditis .. but on the other side of the coin iv spod in the early hours in a storm after iv had a fish.

Could come in handy to say a prayer for a PB 🙏

The rods arrived today and Iv been over the park to try them again and I’m happy. Went for a set of Prologic C3 Fulcrum 12 ft 3.5llb. I asked the shop how much they could do me for 3 and got them £430 delivered, so saved £50 .... like my Nan you used to say if you don’t ask you don’t get.

I just checked my phone and looked up some fish captures and distances using maggots and pva. I tie the bag using a long tag end to a big eye swivel at the end of the lead core using a inline lead helicopter style not very aerodynamic looks like a long sausage but go’s 96yds. In the past I did think of threading the bag through the lead core but gave up on the idea with the lead core being wet. Il be giving Adam’s rig a go for sure

Had a cast with a Prologic rod today lovely blank had funky eyes don’t know if there a gimmick tho. Think it’s the rod for me.

Mods ! Mods !! Elmos at it again

A friend was always complaining about line twist he went through so many different manufactures lines it was unreal,I even started calling him Lino, This was the dark times before measuring sticks. I was fishing nx to him one time and noticed when he walked out his distances at the back of the swim he would lay his rods on the grass engaged the bait runners and walk up to the mark with the lead in in hand. Told him that’s his problem and it was sorted.

Looks fishy...when you do if there’s no paths try not to leave any evidence you been there 😉

Was thinking of getting the eyes rewhipped on a set of 3 rods, anyone know roughly how much it would cost ?

Il have to look it up. I would like to give it a good whack tho.... something satisfying about casting with a multiplier over a fixed spool.

Iv owned Century’s in the past in the 80’s for sea fishing, great rods..... on a side note iv often wondered what it would be like to use a multiplier reel for carp fishing, ....now where’s my Abu 🤔

So my fishing fund jar is filled up and it’s time to splash the cash. I have been trying out rods over the park that belong to friends and friends of friends from Fox X3 , was hoping to try the X4, ESP Onyx and Free Spirt, hopefully got a Prologic to try out mid week. All nice rods but still looking. .... and if one more dog walker asked me if I caught any fish yet 🙄 After a 12ft fast taper ish £160 ish per rod

I can remember my first bet I was 17 had just started my first full time job from school in the steel works ,Funny enough was going out with my first proper girlfriend with not much luck if you know what I mean. I popped into the betting office nx to the pub ( why was there always one nx to a pub ) bet on a dog my bro says I have a look and find a name I like Fair Reward that will do me thinks, it wins a fiver for me wow ! I was on £30 a week then. .... now this is where the girlfriend come into the story I give her a bell pop over mine tonight i says il cook. Down the butchers I go buys two best steaks popped into the off-licence gets bottle of red, the red was horrible... There goes my fiver better be worth it I think ... it was worked a treat 😉. Couple weeks later I’m in the steelworks canteen reading the paper spots my dog Fair Reward is running the last race tells the lads the story and the five of us has a bet and it wins. After that people were coming up to me in work asking for tips, the dog won a further two times each time most of the factory bet on it. The dog didn’t run agin we thought it was put out to stud. Should add don’t see the point of gambling your hard earned money away..... saying that I do the lottery.

Iv got the 8k and it feels bullet proof the line lay is impeccable with the slow oscillation, it’s heavy ish but like I said to a angler who popped into my swime and said “ I heard of them there to heavy you should use Shimano “ my comeback was if I was fly fishing with them you would be talking sense 🙄
