Went to Cornwall on the weekend to toast a friend’s husband who sadly suddenly passed away this was there favourite beach

I can remember the first and only time I had a pot noodle… Picture the scene if you will…it was on a very cold frosty November night sea fishing god it was cold 🥶 I had my mums old tights on newspaper in my worn wellies to try and stay warm. I looked like the Michelin man with far to many clothes on. Must have been mid 1970s on the local foreshore My mate said don’t take sandwiches I bring a pot noodle just bring a flask of hot water, this was the dark days of the glass thermos with the tartan pattern you just had to fart near it and it would shatter. Anyway I’m freezing and hungry as per he gets a pot noodle out I pour the hot water in give it a min he say you’ll love it… well the water had gone lukewarm and I didn’t put enough water in i takes a big spoonful and started choking got a lump of semi warming dryish wetish noodle stuck in my in throat..what’s up with you my mate says as Im jumping up and down on the spot trying to get air into my lungs he’s thinks its so funny and falls over laughing when luckily his father spots me he runs over wracks me on the back the lump of noodle shoots out and I go flying and trip over my mate kicking the Tilly lamp so no light and the end of the trip.. So defo no pot noodle for me ever !

If it’s a daylight trip of 12 hrs, flask of hot water to make coffee couple of sandwiches and 6 digestive biscuits to with with the 3 cups of coffee and a bottle of water 48 hr, Weetabix and proper coffee for breakfast, lunchtime soup and a bread roll and for tea home made curry and rice, nx day the same but a proper 100% beef burger for tea.

I been on my syndicate since June 16th haven’t put a bait in the water yet 🙄

I think why fishing is such a popular sport is that a complete novice can go onto a water for the first time with the most basic of cheap tackle and bait and catch a large fish with a pub chunk…I feel that’s luck…but to catch fish regular comes with experience and willingness of learning from your mistakes.

The weather has cooled down a bit could switch them on for you both tell your lad to leave some fish for you 👍

We arrived at linear as the gates opened 8am on Tuesday morning and it was Scorching the forecast was for it to be in the high 20’s roll on winter lol.. we had booked the disabled swim and I had the nx swim as my mates helper. It’s the shallow part of the lake and there was a lot of fish in front of us sunbathing a awesome display 😳we were like 2 kids let loose in a sweet shop… but they were not interested one bit 🙄we tried every floating hook bait we had with no luck with 6 rods using zigs at all levels they didn’t even spook off, then we tried just using one rod still not a sniff 😞…god we were baked 🥵 we had no cover did I tell you it was hot ? then my mate says he’s found 30 ish dog biscuits at the bottom of his bag they had seen better days I thought, quick as a flash he sets up a ESP Controller with a light rod casts out 2 of the better mixers on the hair with a pouch of green ish mixers around the float and it only goes under and he’s in 😳A carp of 28lb happy days ! …. Alas that was the only fish we had over the 48 hrs of gruelling hot not a breath of wind days the car temperature had it at 31° …. See I said it got hot …

Well I worked this weekend outside prepping a house for painting…god it was hot 🥵 now I got the time off for a 48hr trip at linear on B1 starting early this Tuesday, all booked up which is just as well with the kids off from schools

Best leave them both at home mate you want them both to enjoy the trip always another time. 👍

Best of luck ….maybe you could try spreading the mustard over a hook bait …I said that as a joke but back in the day I used to dip my hook bait in Marmite for Barbel…you never know tho 🤔
