A blank from oxlease but my mate had a 19lb Common a long fish what yonny would call a cricket bat fish, he also had a 25lb Mirror so made up for him…. I learnt the need to cover all bases and eventualities. I knew the swim I was going to fish a little bay to my left only I access to it and it was a 151/2 wrap cast to under the trees, feed them by hand and cast close to them. Well I fed them by hand cast to them and that was that lol. I should have realised after a day that they were there just to chill and hang out, should have had a plan B taken a marker rod find a spot in open water bit of spod and fish that…. But what a sight I had up close to carp in gin clear water over a clean sand gravel bottom, hours of just looking at them lol Apologies for the quality of the pics

On the rig in the pic Iv got 2 pieces of rig putty on and should have said will be using a Korda flying back lead. Il check out the vid with the olivette 👍

Looking at the bag pic on the Tips for testing PVA in water thread I like that you can’t see the weight and hook length but not happy about the lead free leader 🤔 the spot in the swim on oxlease that I’m fishing tomorrow is usually clean with a sandy bottom 6 ft ish deep and you can see the lake bed….also the carp 😳 I realise that’s once the leader is on the bottom it will hopefully blend in better than in the kitchen bowl but still worried…so im thinking fluorocarbon leader…but then thinking £6 a pop no way 😳 iv got a spool of the Fox illusion fluorocarbon in 20lb it’s 40mm diameter looks better in the side by side pic. Any thoughts will be much appreciated

I agree with that, a mate of a mate purchased 100 bags off the Bay, when he was in my swim we compared our bags in the shallow water and his literary exploded on contact with the water, he was gob smacked, I suggested bin them or double bag and dip them in a bit of oil…but Iv been using them all year he says 🙄

Tip 1 You must use only cold water as to replicate the water temperature of the lake at this time of year, so you must, and I can’t emphasise this to much BE very quick in testing pva solid bags in the bath as you will freeze your 🥶 🌰 🌰 Tip 2 When testing pva bags in the bath I recommend the use of barbless hooks … just in case for the obvious reasons 😏 Tip 3 The use of oils when testing pva bags in the bath is also strongly NOT recommended as in a blink of an eye you could be impaled on one of the taps … or if unlucky both taps 🤔 Heres a pic of a bag in a kitchen bowl with 2 and 4mm pellets and a bit of ground bait with a small wafter with half a syringe of sticky baits cloudy krill liquid

Apologies for the half naked pic, if you look closely you can see what’s left of a crayfish claws on the outline of the carps belly must have been painful trying to push that out .. I read a article way back in one of the carp mags and saw the picture of a carp on the mat that regurgitated two 2 inch carp. Cannibals as well

Did they report them to the bailiff or Chris… or Mainline ? Got to be fair the bailiffs are on the ball.

I was at linear walking behind a guy with a load of white buckets all jammed into the one, he then placed 2 buckets in different swims, I caught up with him and had a chat he said he’s been around the complexed and found some nice swims. what about all the buckets I say , oh I just leave them and pick the best swim. 😳😡

Have a polite chat with the other anglers pick there brains, when the weather warms up take a loaf or two of cheap bread walk along and flick pieces out.

I get on with them very well and the batts do last for ages…. Could be i don’t get many runs tho 🙄 had them over 10 years, the one light packed in couple years ago but I still use it no problem. My nephew used to borrow them when I wasn’t fishing so they been used a lot. Il get the ones that light up the wheel when you get a run … recommended 👍
