Daiwa Sensor jumbo spool 8lb 1,855m just under £10 use that for float and feeder and carp off the top, iv had carp up to 16lb on it been using the brand for donkeys yeas X line fluoro not sure what breaking strain it’s been on the spools forever use this for small waters where a softly softly approach is needed.....I find i need to wipe the xline during the session as it seems to get dirty I just use a baby wipe must the segment in the water ? Fox Exocet wow what a line highly recommended 👍 first used it in France in 12lb on a big water as I didn’t have a bait boat, 12lb is a bit Stretchy if you give it the big heave ho with a 3oz weight and no shock leader tho ... so I changed spools to the 15lb glad I did the 1st fish took me around a small weed bed, had no problems with a low 30 and a big ball of weed. The line flys off the spool thin for its bs and sinks ok Braid Berkley Whiplash green diameter 0.12 use it for my spod /marker rod ( which is the same rod ) again had this for so long it’s lost it colour.

When I make up my helicopter leadcore leaders i make a long splice 2 inch’s long at the weight end I find the extra thickness helps grip the bead but not to tight. The other end has obviously a small loop as has the weight end. I ALWAYS make sure the bead can travel over the top loop of the leadcore easily. I can’t remember the last time i used anything under the bead to help grip it to the leader.....There’s a lake I fish often has gravel bars and some zebra muscle beds so leadcore is a must for me.

Almost happened to me in Oxfordshire played a really big fish for a long time got weed jammed in the top eye I’m in the water barefooted water up to my crutch the fish is there beaten just beyond the net a big Common... I dropped the rod and pulled the line and her over the cord..... Happy days but soo close to being one of the saddest.

I do like the long shape of the fish you catch .... but that dark one looks special mate 👍

I still got my old stealth brolly and use it as well but lost the bell cap. I managed to find one on eBay this year for £5 .....but them spokes no wonder I got no hair.

My bed chair gos on first legs out and extended fully then secured with installation tape ... but still tips now an then 😞

I should say this is not my barrow mine is a lot smaller I had a puncture ( 1st time ever ) and borrowed it off a father and son who jumped in the swim I left. They were grateful that I showed them where I caught my fish how many wraps and how much bait i put in.... I often wonder if they had any.

Yes we did mainly codling around 3lb good eating size. 5 lug with a whipped on crab stick ... but lug and razor were always the best. We used to go West Wales on the biggest tides of the year to get the razor’s at low tide.

On the Prawn theme wonder if you could use crab sticks.... when I went cod fishing we would use them if we ran of razor fish.

I was fishing the taff close to Cardiff castle for the Mullet small float 5 lb line, bread on the hook had a couple Mullet when the rod almost gets ripped out of my hands played what was obviously a record Mullet for 15 mins running up and down the bank... turned out to be a Babel of 4lb hook clean in its mouth.

I find I weigh the smaller species of fish Bream, Tench and Roach to the oz but large carp round it off. I weighed a large Mirror I caught in France on 3 different scales to try an get it to 50lb but it wasn’t happening lol so I rounded that off to 49 lb.

I check on my elastic now and then chairs and bed if it’s saggy cut the knot pull it tight then tie the knot....I had to replace all of the elastic once (the mice took a fancy to it) B&Q used to sell it by the meter could still do.
