  1. I had a painting job near a tackle shop that was sadly closing down i bought my first proper carp rods from there Des Taylor 21/2 lb maver must be well over 20years ago. Still use them for floater rods. Anyway the Mrs says you been buying gear again nar love I says painted a couple of ceilings and he gave me the rods lol Defo innocent till proven guilty 😉
  2. A good topic and lots of interesting replies. After a very long time iv realised if you can get the fish feeding and preoccupied you could almost put anything on your hook and get a fish. I use sticky baits krill frozen straight out of the bag on the hook snowman style with a bright small pop up on top In the spod mix chops, hemp, corn and a good glug of there cloudy liquid and maggots if allowed Got a little pot of different coloured plastic corn which iv emptied a bottle of there bait spray into it In the stick mix crumbled baits crushed hemp (like it to fizz) and there cloudy liquid, with a little hemp oil in the summer im just sooo glad iv found a bait iv got confidence in. So I do use food glugs and liquids but if I forgot them il still be happy without them
  3. My preference is a helicopter rig with an in-line lead with a big eye swivel at the bottom of the lead which I attached a pva bag full of goodies nick the hookbait on the bag. Never get any tangles great for maggots at this time of year and if it’s a small bag you can get still get a good distance. I only use this rig on a firm bottle ( o err ) If I cant find a firm ish clay bottom it’s the lead clip for me
  4. I don’t mind keeping my hook baits in the cold better than them getting to warm tho. I keep my particles and pop ups in a metal bins with a lid in the shed..... just keep a lookout for mice with a tin opener !
