  1. Same. Just baiting up is hassle, let alone making the stuff πŸ˜‚

  3. I don't think I would love it enough to go through the pain, I will continue just messing with liquids and powders to scratch the itch πŸ‘ Got some pellets being coated in liquid at the moment, hopefully they will have dried out enough to coat them in some premium attract + powder tonight, then I might even try and go fishing to test them if I am allowed πŸ˜‚

  4. I'm gonna have a hunt around over the next few weeks and see if I can get anything locally, I'm down in Devon and we have farms everywhere πŸ‘πŸ€£ The lt94 mix I'm using works out about Β£8.50 - Β£9 per kilo, that's including the eggs and liquids tho lol. I haven't worked out the nutty mix yet as I don't know how many eggs/liquids it's going to take per kilo. But the price of wpc80 and calcium caseinate is a bit nuts 🀣 I'm gonna have time to next week to give it a good go and gonna time myself to see how much I can knock out in a day. The manufacturer of the rolling machine is saying it will do 100kg in 18mm easily in a day. But I haven't used the mixer yet so unsure of the time it's gonna take to mix the basemix lol. I do expect its gonna take a few attempts to fine tune it and get a bit of a system in place, but I'm hopeful πŸ’ͺ🀣 It's all good fun though, I would like to make bait as a side hustle but if it don't work out that's cool, I've got all the equipment to make bait really easily and will serve me well in the years to come with the waters I fish. I don't really fish tricky waters, I like working a swim where I'm spombing out a lot of bait everyday lol.

  5. Gotta add eggs to the cost as well then you will get a fair Β£per kilo rate and then the biggest saving of all is Labour followed by tax lol

    Which Sofa Chair

Beware of summat too comfy... As a bad back sufferer, finding a chair is a bit of a mission... I bought a Chub recliner as it was comfy as owt and had to get rid of it as it was murder on my back the next day, couldn't find a setting that didn't aggravate it...

    Which Sofa Chair

I think you need to just go and sit on them a bit like goldilocks would. One mans chair is another man's porridge or something. You will know when you find the "one"

  8. I buy steamed, not sure it makes a difference but makes me feel like I am winning in some way.

  9. Think it depends on any active ingredient you are using if it’s active the last thing you want to do is kill it by boiling it

  10. Yep I can manage a brilliant pre baiting campaign in my head proper project management level, I do weed raking and all sorts, the reality is often much different. I even look for particles that don't need soaking and boiling these days, even cool box friendly particles seem a hassle 😳

    Today's Bait rolling thought.

This. I used to price up mixes regularly and I always found that for a no-holds-barred super mix I'd struggle to get ingredients for less than a tenner p/kg all in. Add to that your time which even if you price at minimum wage sends the cost of the bait through the roof. Bait rolling is, imo, a labour of love. There is very little saving to be had any more. For sure making your own bait is an edge - but the true cost is much higher than most realise.

  12. More so if you buy from supermarkets than locally. Many egg suppliers refused to sell to supermarkets unless they paid a fair price to egg producers. I get my eggs from the greengrocer or butcher, no price increases. I was bait making yesterday, working on a base mix for early spring attractor baits to go with the garlic oil and Megaspice flavour. 5ml of Verselle Laga Garlic oil, 2ml of Megaspice to 5 medium eggs.

    Today's thought.

I was running a village pub and restaurant, and another Marina restaurant near Ipswich, 5miles from home, so easy to get to. I was supposed to have Mondays and Tuesdays off as when I was taken on at the marina, it was closed Monday and Tuesday, but the village pub was 'given' to me after the manager there left. Even on Monday I often ended up going in to get change for the weekly float, but the owner refused to let me know the bank details so I would have to pay the post office to get change, and I would sort out my weekly bar stock orders. I discovered the 'area manager' was using her credit card to swap payments from card to cash as I started doing an 'x' reading at the start of shift when cash and card did not add up. I then had two of my waitresses in the pub had both been given holiday at the same time by the area manager and she had not arranged any replacement, so I ended up hiring someone out of my own pocket. The Marina restaurant I was lucky as I had an assistant manager who could run that while I was at the busy village pub. I don't have a problem with hard work, but when you have proven the area manager is fiddling and stealing cash from the takings I was not going to take the blame with an owner who wasn't interested. The second one was just after Covid. I was assistant manager at a 20 bedroom hotel. We'd had a Christmas party and had used plenty of stock, so Sunday morning I did a full stocktake before the Sunday Carvery and mid service the manager came in swearing "I can't order that, we don't sell that", complete with expletives. Wednesday as I was due to be in, I got a phone call asking me to go to MY cash and carry and buy the stock we needed as she hadn't placed a spirits order. It took 3 weeks to get my money back from petty cash as there was a Β£100 weekly limit. I was having to deal with things my overall manager had 'forgotten' or not done, customers not had a return call, bookings, and her spending more time off site. Next few weeks over Christmas I was rostered lates on Friday and Saturday with an early Sunday 12 hour or longer shift. I can finish at 3am after a party, but can't start at 8am with a 45minute drive either side. We still had covid restrictions in place, and I was losing staff to illness left right and centre, and despite having staff, the rotas were continually being cocked up. I had enough just after New Year when every shift was a reverse, late early, late early rather than able to catch up.
