Big up to these lads in the reel servicing dept. They managed to resurrect my busted Wychwood QD5500 and convert both to a quick drag system instead of that utter pile of poo that comes as standard...The reels themselves are okay it was Wychwoods drag caps that failed... a pants design that was utterly useless and damn fiddly to preset properlyFuture fishing have fitted the caps from ESP reels and fitted their ICE washer system so it comes back as a reliable quick drag...Cheers lads1 point

Trakker, fox or carp porter
newmarket reacted to elmoputney for a topic
I did a photo of it chucked in the boot its pretty flat plus the wheel and handles, that is the main bag on top and the water carrier is housed by one of the front panniers, It is quite long but flat it is a great barrow though the galaxy is smaller but I quite like it seems stable and easy to push and load That's it fully laden 2 buckets, bedchair, food bag, clothes bag, rods, bivvy and all my tackle and bits fit in the underbelly (which like the fox have side access)1 point -
Same here....stick to fishing. I had a game of footy on Sunday, mate asked want a kick about, thinking like heads n volleys r summat..... Nah. 16 of us on a full size pitch.... I used to be fit, now I'm still aching from it, only thing I'm running for now is my alarms. Was a good crack though and I was on winning team 9-8.1 point

What Equipment do I Need?
Gato_Amigo111 reacted to Golden Paws for a topic
14lb rod??? Rods are rated as test curves and are calculated by clamping the butt section vertically and then pulling the line with a spring balance until the tip is horizontal. https://www.anglingtimes.co.uk/tackle-reviews/accessories/how-to-start-carp-fishing/ This is a good starting point.1 point -
Carp rigs
yonny reacted to salokcinnodrog for a topic
I can give you an add to this: Start off with a basic hair rig and adapt and play with it. I mention the perfect hooking point, middle of the bottom lip. If you are losing fish to hook hookpulls during the fight at the start, are hooking them at the very front of the mouth, the hair is not long enough. When the basic hair rig stops catching move onto the next development, the sliding or extending hair, or add a line aligner. As @yonny says, a bottom bait rig, and a pop-up rig it really is that simple. I don't fish zigs, so I can't comment on their effectiveness. How effective your rig is can be changed by what and how you feed. A rig with a short hair can be good for fishing over particles or groundbait, yet over boilies may be very ineffective. A rig with a long hair may be great for boilies, yet awful for fishing over particles; the long haired bait may be blown in and out with no hooking, or alternatively cause bite-offs.1 point -
A Blank but what was learnt π±
elmoputney reacted to commonly for a topic
Blank for me at the resi, this weekend. Saw the owner on Sunday morning, he said nothings been out since last year. Water temperature is still below 12o, he seems to think they will switch on when it does. 3 weeks away until I can get back, I bet they start spawning, knowing my luckπ1 point -
I was looking at 1 of these not so long back... I'm using the SKTek Armchair -(when on my own) and the SKTek Recliner Armchair (when the lad comes).... Both are quite padded and comfy.1 point

Day/guest chair
jh92 reacted to salokcinnodrog for a topic
Sorry, I forgot to reply to you after my last post, although it has given me a chance to use and abuse mine over a winter of pike fishing and a couple of months of carp fishing, so I can give a fair appraisal of the Sonik Sk-tec standard chair. It's comfortable and at a sensible height that is easy to get level on sloping ground. Carpfeed did do a review on them, might be worth a Google. Shop around for best prices, and here is Soniks link https://www.soniksports.com/product/sk-tek-folding-chairs/1 point -

Hi Andy, Welcome. Take a look at the Nash Daddy Longlegs chairs. I'm like you, struggle to get up out of a low chair. These start at a good height and can be raised a lot more. Had mine years and wouldn't want anything else. Ian.1 point
