    Thought of the Day pt.2

I’ll be wearing the spf 50 today πŸ˜† was driving yesterday and burnt my arm from just having it on the edge of the window. Now have to go into work with a white arm and a red arm πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I think that Kev is on the right track, very seldom is braid banned as a hooklength. If it is, make a small hole at the bottom of the bag and thread the hooklink through, make the bag as per usual with the lead against the hole and then nick the hook back into the bag. (Whip the hole with a bit of PVA tape if it lets bait through.) By doing that, you have all the advantages and it should be tangle free and straighten as soon as the bag bursts.

  3. Well i got my tackle box today, it seems I usually don't take enough tackle to fill one I think I may now be in danger of buying more bits just to fill it,πŸ˜‚ It is pretty smart though I do like it, I don't think I had the energy for a full change over,I've done some of it already but it's quite stressful getting a new tackle box don't want to rush it πŸ˜‚

You might find it's a main line braid ban not hooklinks. Can't remember seeing anywhere banning braid as hook lengths - seems a bit odd tbh

You could but it'll likely get a bit kinked. I'd avoid it. Nah, the bag would drag the chod down into the weed/debris. You really want a chod resting as gently as possible on top of any debris. You might be better off applying your freebies using a different method (spod, stick, catty etc).

    Non-PVA funnel web?

We do, a few rivers on the west coast, and some on the east (baltic salmon counts as the same species). The far north is getting pretty decent, apparently. We used to have 228 salmon rivers, but hydroelectric dams, logging routes and pollution has taken it down a few notches, to 30 something. Pike and perch are everywhere, and they do grow big, especially in the baltic archipelago. Some bloke got an 18,1 kg pike earlier this spring (that's a hair short of 40 lbs). That'd be fun to try some day.

    Non-PVA funnel web?

This one is branded JAXON, and instructions are in polish, so yeah, highly unclear. The local tackle shop has a small shelf of mixed angling stuff; some hooks, floats, sinkers and feeders, three kinds of groundbait, and the occasional bag of boilies and other oddballs. The shopkeeper is mostly into fly fishing, and some perch, so he has the section under the premise "some people buy angling stuff, they probably know what they're looking for". Agreed. I've been fishing for thirty-odd years, but mainly spinning and some fly fishing, only got into coarse fishing a year ago, so it's still a whole new playground. Also, angling in general is a quite small niche in Sweden. Back here it's the stone age, and two of our shops beginning to offer maggots by the pint is this year's sensation.

    Losing the buzz

a couple of years back I lost the urge.... I'd pretty much stopped match and Pike fishing and I really was having a hard time finding the motivation to fish for anything.... Probably a fallout from losing my Mum and having to sort her affairs and a bit of ill health were the main causes.... I found an interest in vintage tackle and for some reason it struck a chord with me... fishing as I did when I was a nipper. Now I dabble with one rod or pole and fish when I want how I want... I still have my carbon and baitrunners but I derive more pleasure using old gear these days.... perhaps approaching your fishing from a different angle may rekindle your enthusiasm....???
