    Thought of the Day pt.2

Gone to the 91 acre reservoir. Started spombing bait out and along came two swans. They keep trying to attack me when I fill the spomb up they want the particles in my bait bucket πŸ˜‚ splashed water at it to make it go away but it only made it angrier and now every time I go into the water it starts coming at me πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ caught 1 bream within 10 minutes of rod being out πŸ‘πŸ˜‚

  2. Carp can only put up with or live in brackish or salt water for a short period, they need to flush out the additional salt from their system, and the Freshwater inlet will allow them to do that. Add in the spawning in the stream as well. Although there are carp and other coarse fish in the Baltic, there are also Freshwater inlets, streams and rivers, which they also use for the same reasons.

  5. Hey guys. I live in a place where we have what we call the dock. Its a mix of freshwater and salt. It used to hold trout but they didnt survive well in the water, or at least they all were caught and ate. Anyways this water has a outflow into what was an old fishery, small little water that connects to the docks and it also connects to a "beck" This beck is around 2 foot in depth. Amazingly we used to get carp coming out of the fishery into this beck, 20 years ago i went down there once and this beck had aload of carp in there. The beck was that shallow you could see them. The flow goes under bridges. And very shallow water. My maye was on his bike yesterday when he got to the part where the "beck" joins the old fishery and to his suprise there was 20 carp or so all swimming in this shallow beck. Does anyone have any theory as to why they are moving up this stream? Here are some pics you can clearly see the fish in there Whats the reason behind them moving into this shallow water? Im gonna check out a part of the stream lower down where it doesnt have a no fishing sign today. Some big carp in that "dock" Could they be spawning? Or anything else that makes them come into this really shallow water ?

  8. Carp want to mix genes, escape to waters new. When a lake is about to flood the fish are usually lining up ready to escape. So inquisitive that they can end up dying in drainage ditches etc

  9. The buzzard went back safely and while it was there another young buzzard joined it and they flew off togeather so I’m a happy man and had two carp yesterday from the park lake but can’t print the pics as publicity ban one was an unknown 30 so big smile’s on my face today

  10. Always the way mate lol. Even if you don’t fish you could pre bait with it all and go back the following day πŸ˜† Done about 50 spombs so far, gonna rebait the rods in a min so will put some more out again πŸ‘ All the carp I can see that are rolling are at the top end of the reservoir in the out of bounds / nature reserve. I’m as close as I can get to them so putting a load of bait out and hopefully they pass down this way come across it πŸ˜‚

  11. I spent some time with the weed rakes yesterday, now I am not. Even sure I want to fish that lake or swim tomorrow πŸ€” I think I am going to just have a good walk round and decide when I see something, I did my tigers yesterday and for some reason I felt I needed an extra bucket of pigeon Conditioner, I think I decided i hadn't gone in heavy enough or something so some swim will be getting some tomorrow πŸ˜‚

  12. Hi all, fairly new to carp scene . I was thinking of switching from mono to fluorocarbon. But was wondering what best breaking strain to go with . Does anyone use 20lb breaking strain. Obviously its dependant on the fishing situations you are faced with , but as a general rule of thumb advice welcome please.

    Dogs and fishing

My daughters first dog, much to my approval a cocker called Max. It's been a while since I trained a dog to be a good fishing companion - maybe it just came with age with mine. Eek its gonna chew my kit, didnt think about the bad stuff! πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

  14. .. A mate of mine regularly goes to visit family in Hungary. A lake alongside the river that had been drained and emptied specifically to 'harvest' a food source, carp were naturally restocked from the river by the river rising just 1metre. He was amazed that 10kilo fish had reappeared within a year.

  15. Something I recently learnt from something I've watched or seen is when using a sausage gun to make sausages, it is better to make the sausages a couple of mm smaller than the table size this apparently makes them roll better as sometimes they swell a little,

  18. I cant edit but forgot to add the carp reside in the "dock" which is brackish water. My maye=mate. Is there a reason they are doing this? Anyone have a good theory as to why they go into this shallow water in the summer months mainly?

According to the scales I got 23.5kg of particle and and 7kg in total of boilies for a 3 possibly 4 day session starting tomorrow πŸ‘πŸ˜‚ Still undecided where I’m going to go, got 2 reservoirs in mind. Both decent stocks and lots of 20s and fish close to 40. one is about 80 acres the other is 91. Will have to decide in the morning πŸ˜‚
