Average is in the 20's, several 30's & a few lumps, not seen for a while!!! I don't think it's a runs water by any stretch, but the manager, put in about a 1000 early doubles a few years back. One he recognised on the bank last year was up to mid 20's. He tells me the they give a good account for themselves π First weekender at the end of the month. I can't wait2 points

I am just glad I can drive to the swim βΊοΈ 5kg + Bucket full of chops and 12mm lers 2 buckets full of stinky, oily, spicy seeds, probably 4kg dry so probably a lot more wet, it was quite wet still so I thought I would add some pellets to soak up some of the juice, they expanded and popped the lid, oily liquid all over the garage floor Oops π wd40 used to clean it up π Pva bag mix big bucket 4kg 18mm boilies +1kg of 12mm Pva bags and hookbaits in one bucket My water bucket with liquids in π and seriously I questioned whether I would have enough for a 24 hour session πππππ I think I need some bigger buckets π€£2 points -

Reservoir virgin!

I'm no expert either tbh, I've never really ventured onto a Big water, I think the key would be to not change too much to begin with and adapt as you need too, If it was me I would probably just walk it and try and find them and then regularly feed a couple of likely spots and hope they keep visiting π Have a look at the Carl and Alex reservoir diaries they may prove quite useful π Good luck though sounds interesting, what's the stock like?1 point -

I'm not claiming to be experienced on such a daunting task but I remember watching a Terry Hearn video on the rarely caught 30 where for weeks he went to the lake but didn't even take the rods, just a bit of bait, a notebook and binoculars. First light is always a good time and I remember taking the dog on a walk around my local lake at 4:30 am one summer morning and was amazed at the amount of activity (note to oneself, do it more often!) If it's local, definitely try to catch it at a time of optimum shows or else you could be camping for months. Other than that, a baiting campaign might be worth trying. Good Luck.1 point -

Mosquitoe/general bug repellent
yonny reacted to salokcinnodrog for a topic
I have used them in the past, you do have to make sure that they don't break. I had one break after it was lit, it fell off the coil and melted a hole in a bucket lid. Mosquito repellants are personal, and mosquitoes in one place will respond differently to different supposed repellants. Some people get on alright with Avon Skin so Soft, yet others don't. At Nazeing Skin so Soft was normally ok and kept me bug free, yet at Taverham Mills I had to use Deet based repellant. The higher Deet content the more repellant, yet the more of a headache it can produce. It will also break down plastics! Lifesystems Expedition + is around 50% Deet, as is Jungle Formula. The repellant effect of 8 hours is ok in summer, but come autumn if I spray just before dark, I could end up being bitten before I wake up. I'm not normally too bad with insect bites, just a slight itch the day after, but I have had serious problems when I was bitten by something in long grass and ended up with blood poisoning that saw a hospital visit. That would be my own fault for not spraying...1 point -
I know what you mean about the JRC hangers. I've tried using them but they were absolutely useless, same problem as you. If you are looking for a relatively inexpensive solution, the Wychwood "Slugs" are very, very good. Available in a range of colours, (I have the orange ones which are very easy to spot), they fit easily onto your line and more importantly release very easily on picking your rod up. Nice handy slot for an isotope too. Highly recommended. If you wanted to spend a little more money, the Jag Safeliners are also very good. In practice, I found them a little trickier to get on the line, especially in low light conditions, but again they release very easily on a take. As I say, they are not cheap and work out a lot more expensive than the Slugs as you have to buy the special hockey sticks separately. The Slugs come with everything you need. They are also not as "visual" as the Slugs, the brighter colours available on the latter really do help. I like my bobbins to be light, so in both instances swapped out the supplied chains with cord replacements, which is very easy to do. I am now using Delkim slimlites, I find these to be fantastic. But I have kept both my Slugs and Safeliner sets as back ups. For me though, the Slugs are unbeatable for the price. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wychwood-Slug-Singles-Yellow/dp/B01CAG6YGK/ref=pd_sbs_200_2/261-8999168-5343421?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01CAG6YGK&pd_rd_r=2a49a3a1-21e0-4f37-868c-1668ed47bdc2&pd_rd_w=SxD6h&pd_rd_wg=bp8Pb&pf_rd_p=2773aa8e-42c5-4dbe-bda8-5cdf226aa078&pf_rd_r=HGF1E1JNT8D52V804SY9&psc=1&refRID=HGF1E1JNT8D52V804SY91 point
