I had a guy wake me at 2am one night he said “I’ve caught a common could you do pics?” I’ll be honest I felt a bit miffed at the thought of being woken for mid double common. When I got to his swim and looked in the net there lay a 41lb common. I was more excited than he was!! snowmanstevo, commonly, crusian and 1 other 3

Also it's bite time so wouldn't expect anyone to wind in for that, unless it was a proper chunk. I'll have to replace the battery in my remote then I'll be ok. If I was to be really picky a bigger tail fin would make both fish even better looking . 😃
Its-grim-up-north
First fish of 2019, here’s two of the 6 caught over the last 24 hours. None of the bigger fish from the lake but very welcome after a few hard winter nights. Also chuffed to bits to land my first fish using zig rigs. 👍😉 chillfactor, snowmanstevo, commonly and 3 others

I have one negative comment though, where is your unhooking mat?

I use a cradle mate, it’s just out of the shot as I moved back a few steps and held my arms out to make the fish look a bit bigger 😂, we all can’t catch chunks like you all the time fella 👍 kevtaylor

A carp is a carp, 1lb or 50lb I treat them all with the same care and attention. It was just an observation that I couldn't see a mat/cradle. snowmanstevo
So after a couple of blank day sessions and an overnighter last wk i was still after my 1st fish of the year. With that in mind me and the mate went to one of the more popular waters on our club card and rolled up at 10 o’clock to find the place very quiet..... that in itself is a result 😉 After a quick mooch I was encouraged to see a few fish mooching around the far bank and island so out went 2 zigs. This particular water doesn’t have many silvers (or so I’d been told) and gets hammered with pellet and boilies and as it’s only the second time I’d fished there I’d took a couple of pints of maggots as a back up approach. After an hr or so the zig did it’s job and a fish just shy of 20 graced the net,my first fish of the year. 😬The next 4 hrs was frustrating to say the least. I had fish in front of me but no bites followed dispite trying different colours and water levels it was time to try something different.A simple 12 inch IQ rig and maggot clip with a small bag of maggots hooked on was chucked out. I’d been drip feeding dead and live maggots all day in a couple of spots and with zigs frustratingly not working I decided to give it an hr while I had a brew and a bit of a chill....... 10 minutes later a screamer of a run seen this pretty high teen on the mat.A recast and finish me brew and a smoke I put a few more deads in and put both rods on maggots. Half an hr later another screamer of a take and another fish just over the 20 mark. yonny, crusian, commonly and 3 others

As the light started to fade the fish couldn’t get enough of the wrigglers and this high teen was soon on the bankseeing all the commotion even matey boy got involved with this ghostie that hit 20+ again on the maggots crusian, Its-grim-up-north, Dave Hedgehog and 4 others

All in all a good day,my only regret is I didn’t take more maggots and stay on for the night 🙄🙄😂😂 yonny, chillfactor, Its-grim-up-north and 5 others
