Stevo...im thinkingof joining 2 mates at Lakemore Fishery for Cats...would a standard carp rig be ok but beefed up the braid (? lb) n hook size.

It depends which lake your fishing mate what I will say is Lakemoor have some monsters in there and will smash a bog standard set up. Anything up to 30lb and your standard carp set up should cope..... anything over that and your in the lap of the gods, mate. !

Definitely beef up hooks specialist cat ones size 2 and you want quicksilver braid hook link or similar. They have pads around the mouth that will wear away most carp hooklin ks in a decent scrap. Everything is beefed up compared to carp gear, live bait rigs look interesting!

I don't know much on the subject, only tried for them the once, with a mate who will fish for them. Not my bag, but I get why they appeal to some

I've only ever hooked one cat, I knew it wasn't a carp as it just carried on going and going and going sticking to the bottom then it snapped my hook link behind an island need to beef up I would say, I've never felt anything that powerful before or since can't even remember what it's like hooking a carp these days 😂

I was in a bit of a rush mate me and the dog went for a walk along the canal so wanted a few floaters to put in. Ended up getting a bag of Sainsbury’s mixers for 3.50.

Anyway, no carp about but seen a dead tench knocking the 6lb mark 😩

baited up some clean patches in the holes of the weed with boilies, might go back down later or tomorrow and fish them for an hour lol

Found a new lake to guest at this evening.

Was looking at a likely spot when the fish decided to put on a show for me.

Saw a total of 6 carp in about half an hour, one of them was a lovely dark mirror, probably a high 20.

Just gotta work out a route to get my gear down there without being seen .

And take some sheers to make a swim.

Hey, just do this. I've done quite a lot of "guesting" myself over the years. Where there's a will there's a way...……..

Got tuesday night pencilled in already.

If i park my car near to the lake i will get a ticket.

If i walk from the closest place i can legally park that  i know of at the moment then i have to walk past the security hut with my gear.

But i want that dark mirror so i will find a way.
