Done a little prepping today cooked up some pigeon mix and soaked it in Molasses, crumbed up a couple of kilos of nearly frozen boilies with the ridgemonkey crusher (blooming good product I think) , mixed with a few pellets and given a good dose of liquid liver mmmmmmm, My plan for tomorrow, prep a swim or two for Sunday and maybe fish for a few hours to get rid of all the rust I've built up over the winter 😂

I might even do a little day session Thursday then I can find 3 spots clip all the rods up and bait them them all, and all I have to do Sunday is turn up and chuck em out makes sense I guess 😊

I went for a walk round there yesterday, still quite flooded and unfishable in some places, I've got a 48 hour session starting Sunday and I can't wait, it was cold yesterday and I didn't see a lot but we can but try, I'm gonna Try and prebait a couple of spots thursday, see if I can't make something happen, not confident but hopeful 😂

Perhaps it was in rainbow at one point, but maybe Rod, Jane and Freddy moved it, 🌈😊 -

https://www.total-fishing.com/world-carp-record-goes/ 👍 This 2005 WR was caught on a boilie from Graviers 😳 -
Getting decent night shots is all about the lighting tbh, I use a Canon dslr with an intervalometer makes it a doddle,96 led video light off amazon just set it to take about 20 get the fish up pose, turn it take a few more one will turn out OK usually 👍 I will only put them in a retainer for a short while while I get everything sorted, I usually let it rest in the net for a couple of mins, unhooking in the water if I can, if not get my unhooking, weighing kit out, unhook it,treat it, put it in the retainer, weigh it and put it in the water while I sort out the camera and where I want to do the snap, take a practice shot, then once I am ready, take snaps, return the fish to fight another day,

Cultured goo baits anyone? Been soaking these for ages now they are being coated with sticky manilla stick mix and loads of goo it's quite amazing how much liquid these can take with the addition of groundbait 😍 The pink one is how they started out 😂

Sorry to hear that mate, hope it gets better soon

Feels a long time coming, can't wait to just switch off and hear nothing but nature again, I think I may even start baiting up soon 🤔
-
Bream will eat boilies too mate 👍 I tend to invite all to the party when I start prebaiting, they all help to clear the spots and I always think the other fish will make the carp investigate, Everyone seems to think pellets =bream, but I also have complete confidence they help me catch carp too, Blakes baits is pretty good for pellets and particles free delivery over £40

I've almost planted the seed of a 48 hour session to the misses as it will be my birthday in April, I started thinking about all the stuff I could do, like reel the rods in, go for a walk about, drink a beer in the morning, afternoon nap and those kind of treats I don't normally get to enjoy, if I catch something it will be a bonus but I'm just gonna relax the Heck out of it and switch off from the world for 2 whole days csmt wait 😂

Cyprinus Base/Base HQ
elmoputney replied to bobthetrain's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
I think it may be the same tbh, I have a cyprinus bunker and I love it, look out for the deals on there site you may be able to get a good deal on there auctions -
It is cheap because its a 50/50 mix with some added bits, the patshull Park mix would do the job better I think, and still not expensive, Personally If you want to save some money prebaiting I would use pellet and particles much less hassle than rolling bait yourself, and will do a great job

About time to get my actual fishing head back on I think, I haven't been since December 😳 I'm not going to lie I haven't really missed it that much, haven't had time or the energy, it's starting to not feel like a bad time to start firing in a few freebies out though so I may get my prebaiting hat on again and start getting ready for a couple of overnighters and prepping some spots, ready for action, need to sort my stuff out respool my reels, and get spot finding and airbombing, hopefully I can find a couple of windows for this next week, so far I've thought about it a few times, but it has always seemed to be raining and cold when I get the chance, I'm just not that hardcore at the moment 😂 Anyway hopefully this year will be a good one for us all and we can all catch some whackers,

I've still got some particle 42 pop ups nick? Do you think they will be OK? I smell them from time to time they still smell like a tub of confidence to me 😁

Starter bait boat ??
elmoputney replied to Simon Hinson's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
If you haven't got a spod rod get one before you buy a boat, it's the rod and reel you will end up using most tbh, i use mine for finding spots and measuring distances with distance sticks,as a marker rod, creating spots and clearing spots with a grappling lead or small weed rake , baiting spots, spombing, spodding, air bombing, basically it goes to the lake more times than my fishing rods and I would be lost without it, it is the most essential rod I own 👍 -
Starter bait boat ??
elmoputney replied to Simon Hinson's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
I think practice first tbh, if I was to get a boat it wouldn't do much I couldn't do without it, it's well worth taking the time to develop your skills first, get good at clipping up and all that so you can hit the spots you want to, it's important to learn and develop the basics, I'm no good at fishing at distance, I've never had to fish that far really, and it is something I want to get better at but I wouldn't feel happy catching a fish at a range I couldn't cast to using a boat, I would see that as cheating, its up to you but that's my take on it, if you aren't sure of things and want to get better just ask on here lots of friendly helpful people about 👍
