  1. I could also see a lot of disadvantages it would be a waste of time in a lot situations πŸ˜‚ but in the right situation they would struggle to deal with it, you would need to drop the lead though I think, but it would just be that bit different to what they are used too, maybe even use a bag to slow it down in the water, I don't like bags with pop ups in as a rule but a blatent chod might be something else πŸ˜‚
  2. Has anyone ever tried a chod rig on a lead clip or inline? could be great direct to the lead πŸ€”
  3. I got my J precision hooks last week, been having a little play tonight, they are pretty blooming sharp tbh, he seems to take a lot less off them than some but gives them a nice long point, much better than I do myself I think πŸ‘ Top one is a size 6 curved long shank, bottom is a size 5 curved, I could use both happily cos they don't actually seem much different 😁
  4. That's true, trouble is the price goes up faster than the bank balance πŸ˜‚
  5. Makes sense I suppose, I think the proper emblem spod reels look nicer though and has a folding handle, I find non folding handles slightly annoying when it comes to packing up, so what you save in retrieve you lose in pack Down πŸ˜‚ probably more options for customising too πŸ‘ Why are diawa reels soo expensive second hand BTW, you used to be able to get the black emblems for about Β£70 new a couple of years ago, I think second hand they are always over 300 for a set, I'd love a set of old school emblems, I remember this old boy had a set of gold ones when fishing at Emberton Park in the olden days I thought he was the biz, he was using partiblend too πŸ˜‚
  6. I think it was a crosscast spod in 45 actually my mistake, 😳 So are you thinking of using spod reels as normal reels? I thought you meant for spodding, would be labour saving though πŸ‘ In theory you could add 45mm spools to the 35mm reels if they are the same size, but im not sure that would be cost effective as you would probably have to change other bits or you may lose the massive 124cm per turn retrieve πŸ€”
  7. A lot of people seem to rate the 45scw, from what I can gather, I spent a good long while looking into them lol, never bought them yet though 😁 the 35 just means it is a 35mm spool length rather than a 45mm I think, the 45mm spod reel has a 118cm per turn retrieve, 124cm per turn, is pretty big though not noticed anything that big before the latest emblem spod is 122cm per turn? Is that what yours is? If so every 15 turns is an extra shatterproof ruler πŸ“πŸ˜³
  8. Just checked for the week, doesn't hit the dizzy heights required does it, and there was me thinking the Bermuda shorts might be coming out soon 😭 Gives me a bit of time to spot find though πŸ‘ The wind changes about Thursday, all them Wigan kebab eaters fault 😁
  9. I am just going on what he said but I did take it as a sign, could do with no rain for a while it was still very flooded, I would've needed waders to get right round it, I guess where we had such a sustained cold spell before it seems to have made this warmer spell very noticable, lletd just hope it doesn't get too cold again
  10. I spoke to someone who has been keeping an eye on the lake I fish yesterday, he said it seems to be going up a degree a week at the moment, he said up to 10 degrees in places, I said thanks and vowed to start trickling some bait in πŸ˜‚
  11. A chod rig will help you be able to fish over, rougher bottoms like weed, chod debris effectively, its designed as a chuck anywhere rig, so as long as you have your top bead set up correctly in theory it should present anywhere Personally in my opinion the longer the hooklink on a helicopter set up the more you take away the leads effectiveness to aid with hooking , I would rather use an inline or lead clip if possible, and I would work towards making holes in the weed with prebaiting then you can fish simple lead clip set ups or Pva bags on your cleaned spots and you will start to catch them, I became a fan of dropping the lead in weed last year after a run of hook pulls cost me 7 fish, dropping the lead makes it easier to control what the fish will do in weed as you have direct contact, and stops the lead bouncing about out in front of the fishes mouth whilst hooked, one of those fish still hurts today I know it was a biggun, I wish I had started dropping the lead sooner😒 I would use a chod if I didn't know what the bottom was like, but I would rather know what I was fishing over and use the correct rig for it,
  12. I've just seen this on fb thought you might be interested https://boatmanuk.com/product-category/boats/actor/
  13. If you are the only one fishing at present you can afford to put a little bit in I would say, I heard today the 25 acre lake I fish is 10 degrees in places at the moment, so find the bit where the sun hits most and bait that, if it doesn't go cold again its not a bad time to start pre baiting a bit I don't think, I will be as soon as i form a plan πŸ™„ if it isn't going far you just need to be gentle with it, think finesse lol delicate, smooth and easy like a Sunday morning πŸ˜ŽπŸŒžπŸ˜πŸ˜‚
  14. Does anyone else fish it? How big is it? If not keep it simple keep the bait going in and make the spots yourself, they will come if you bait it often enough, then just cast bags into the area when you are fishing it will soon firm up a bit Are using using your line clip when you cast? It does make being accurate a lot easier
  15. Has your hookbait been coming back stinking of rotting silt? If you are leading about try and find silt that doesn't stink, takes some practice at first but once you have done it a bit you can soon spot the difference, imo ignore the spot if it stinks πŸ‘
  16. Well the results are in from week one weigh in, 😬😬😬😬😜😜😜😜 -5lb down to 21st 9lb 😁😁😁😁 I'll take that for week 1, still a long weigh 😳 to go but a solid start Cheers all πŸ‘
  17. Well it's Friday and I've done pretty well so far this week, today I've managed to refuse point blank a kebab from the best kebab van in the world and I didn't go to the canteen for fish and chip Friday 😲😬😬😬 Willpower mode on 😣
  18. He's a bit like Glenn hoddle this one Lots of ball control but a bit of a dribbler ⚽ πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
  19. No that's what I said but little ruder 😁😁
  20. The spod braid performed about 10lb below breaking strain on the tackle box line test, I didn't see that til after I had bought it though, it snapped a few times gently lobbing a spomb 6 wraps 😲
  21. It works if you pee on a jellyfish sting 😁 probably though it's ammonia innit, will probably do it by accident anyway the aim isn't what it used to be 😁😁😁
  22. Future carping stopped selling the actor bait boat, I think there were some issues with the last batch tbh, I also decided against going to the darkside 😁
  23. Gardner will be better, I've gone off fox stuff since the exocet spod braid debacle (not fit for purpose) in Gardner I trust πŸ‘
  24. I ve already scratched it lol, it's swollen up like a good un I've put some bite cream and taken an antihistamine so hopefully will settle, I'm gonna get my bug zapper out tonight 😁
  25. I've put some bite cream on it that usually works, but might try that if it's still bad later
