Can you not bolt it, clamp it or strap it down somehow ? Seems weird that would be designed so that it was free moving. Good luck though

Might be interesting to try making some fast breakdown baits, especially as I only get to do overnighters usually. Could be a good way of getting them on the feed quicker. That being said I could just buy some fast breakdown pellets and save the faffing about.
-
I've been having a look at pellet makers, basically a mincer I think. So if you wanted to make a fast breakdown pellet would you just not use egg with your base mix/powders etc and just use water and possibly other liquids then just air dry?

Nice reels 😎 -
Maybe if you had glugged it before you chucked it in they might have all sunk, interesting idea though maybe something to think about. Was thinking maybe fastish breakdown nuggets.

Okuma 8k, bulletproof, great line lay, smooth, 5year warranty, best reel in that price bracket. -
I think you need to just go and sit on them a bit like goldilocks would. One mans chair is another man's porridge or something. You will know when you find the "one"

I buy steamed, not sure it makes a difference but makes me feel like I am winning in some way.

Yep I can manage a brilliant pre baiting campaign in my head proper project management level, I do weed raking and all sorts, the reality is often much different. I even look for particles that don't need soaking and boiling these days, even cool box friendly particles seem a hassle 😳

I don't think I would love it enough to go through the pain, I will continue just messing with liquids and powders to scratch the itch 👍 Got some pellets being coated in liquid at the moment, hopefully they will have dried out enough to coat them in some premium attract + powder tonight, then I might even try and go fishing to test them if I am allowed 😂
-
I was going to add chilli hemp oil I forgot to add it to the list 😳 Tbh I was just thinking what the cost saving would be, for the little spare time I have presently I think I will keep buying it for now. Just wanted to see what it would cost compared to buying it, I wasn't going to add it all but it was £22 for 5ltr so I would use the spare for glugging etc

I was bored last night so I put together a mix using AA base mix to see what it would cost lol. Hnv Super red mix 85% premium attract + 5% hydrolysed liver powder 5% spirulina 1% garlic powder 2% Chilli powder 2% 5l liver hydro Not sure if I would add a flavour maybe chorizo or something meaty but would certainly work out cheaper 🤔
-
Do you have a sheet that you use for base mix formulations? Would quite like to have a play with one 😂
-
I think a good edge might be adding vitamins and healthy good stuff to a bait, might not make it anymore attractive but would certainly add longevity to it and be good for the fish. One ingredient that has to be in any bait I buy nowadays is liver of some sort, just a confidence thing.

What are you putting in it to make it stand out from the rest of the milky nut baits?
-
Thanks I've used AA Baits a couple of times, not for hydros though so good to know thanks.

That's what I could have said to you regarding the bait question, but that's kind of not the point of the forum, we bounce ideas about and share, I have my own ideas about liquids and know which ones have been good in the past, however at the moment BAF have pretty much tried to stop supplying the average Joe fishermen, so it can be an expensive game buying duff liquids. So I'll ask a slightly different question who do you consider a reputable hydro/liquid manufacturer now BAF only want to do trade sales?

How to correctly set-up and use bobbins
elmoputney replied to Joe Quinn's topic in New to Carp.com, New to Carp Fishing
Bobbins are essentially an extra visual indicator to see if your line is moving. The main reason for them is to highlight drop backs (the line slackening) which could indicate a fish picking up your bait and moving towards you, that said if you fish them a little slack you can see subtle forward movement (the fish moving away) as it lifts up. They also highlight fishing moving through your swim as they pick up your line with their fins, this while frustrating can be a great tool for locating fish particularly in winter when they don't give you any other signs. They will certainly help you more than be a pain anyway, so just get some and have a go, Good luck. -
So which end product liquids would you be adding to baits?
-
This is one my daughter caught within 5 minutes of chucking out Cmc pop up with a handful of RNM around it.
-
Kream crunch jaffa, ive not used it myself tbh but you only have to look at the fb catch reports. It definately catches lots, I do have a lot of confidence in their choc n orange pop ups though, they work and smell lovely also 😏 The banarama is based on KKJ but I've only used it once so far, I didn't catch but that was probably my fault not the baits. I would use any of them confidently.
-
No i just get my bait from them. I needed a new bait Co, as the last one I used sadly closed during covid, these were local to me and it just made sense tbh, I've got 20kg of this one at the moment, smells lovely, I was using RNM for the last couple of years. I bet it's apocalypse?

If you wanted a nut base mix to have a tinker with the Reaper Nut Mix might be a good starting point for you. I've been using the boilies for a couple of years and the fish do seem to like them. https://innovatebaits.co.uk/products/?category=base_mixes

I've been using Innovate Baits for a couple of years with no complaints. Great bait and comparatively decent value. And they have a decent range of steamed baits I'm sure you would find one you liked, they all seem to work and have caught a lot of the good ones on my syndicate.
