    Chod rig

Do you need to use a chod rig? what type of lake bed will you be fishing over? If you find your self using leadcore, google terry hearns video on you tube or on esp website! if you go for the much safer option of using a synthetic leader you can use a piece of shrink tube where the bead sits, then slide bead onto shrink tube so that it will still pull free, but best advice would be to rethink your rig and go with a SAFE rig
  6. Think you will find esp hooks pretty strong, maybe the kamasin ones are a bit thinner
  7. please stay away from leadcore, the very fact that a huge amount of lake owners have banned it from their waters tells a tale in itself try tungsten tubing or synthetic leaders
  8. most people that use the chod tend to go for as short a hook length as poss
  9. I dont see that you do not like his style of writing, he is far from a "whinge" yes a little eccentric but entertaining and not boring
  10. i have read it about 3 times, very good like all his books
  11. i would say when fishing over silt a long hooklink can be a good idea
  12. If a rat with weils disease piddled into a lake, it would still be safe to boil and drink the water...........a rolling boil renders all water safe.....keenook you would not last long in the wilds in a survival situation! any way this is going of topic
  13. You dont get weils disease from boiled water rats carry it in their urine
  14. well i drink the lake water down at nene valley but i boil it first and soak a tea bag in it just to be sure
  15. same as ^^^^^^^the most carp are caught on the most basic rig
  16. which river are you thinking of rob?
  17. Me i dont live nearby, thats the problem why i did not fish it last year, i had membership but ended up at willow pool instead in nene valley after that huge common its about a hundred mile trip for me
  18. Hi tinca and welcome to carp.com most anglers tend to use fairly standard no knot rigs for river carp, same as for lakes, think the key to river carp is prebaiting, getting them used to feeding in one area, i plan to have a go at the river nene this new year, hope to get a couple out!
  19. have a look at the "fishing holidays" link at top of page a lot to choose from
