Seeing how you all had fancy chairs, I've just ordered the new ridgemonkey umpire chair, it has really telescopic legs powered by a remote control so you can raise it up and look over the lake in comfort, and it drops down in a flash if you get a run, comes complete with rig board, carry bag and it's especially useful for casting zigs. Was expensive though Β£2019.99

  5. I was messing about with the krimps after making some booms the other night, and made a pretty tidy Hinged Stiff rig. Much easier than trying to tie them tbh and you can easily adjust the height.

That's what I was actually thinking, people are forever feeding the ducksbwith Bread in this area, last time I fished a Nas White coconut wafter and caught, I should be there for 1st light, all gear is practically ready.....PVA Bags mainly filled with crumb boilie, groundbait, Manilla Active Mix and few pellets, all need to is to inject with manilla food liquid.

  7. That's how it's starts, just a couple of new rods, then reels, then bivvy, bed, luggage, bite alarms, then you start going for non essential stuff like boats, bushwhackers, more luggage to put new bits in, more terminal tackle than you know what to do with then you find you don't use it all, sell some bits to buy more stuff you don't really need πŸ˜‚ I've had a few bouts of just wanting to buy stuff lately. I've managed to stop myself so far, but for how long..........

  10. I haven't had any issues yet, if they don't click when you crush them, they tend to slip, so I would redo them, i pull them everytime to the point I think they would slip and If I pulled the granny out of it, I think that it would snap at the crimp But I also think if I made a knotted version of my boom if i pull it hard enough it will probably snap, I seem to remember doing that with some fluorocarbon rigs and snapping them someone told me not to pull it so hard πŸ˜‚

  11. It was Rod Hutchinson who said "test a knot by hammering it". I presume he meant give it a good pull, yank it, put it under pressure. Every knot I tie, I test it, every crimp trace, whether for pike or sea fishing I test it. I don't like crimped rigs for carp fishing.

I'd be starting my search here... constant food source for them..... but with one day and one rod to play with I'd not even be tackling up until I'd seen a sign of carp.

True, goes without say....Carp in this/these lakes are not known for making shows. I've caught from the lake on the Left from the Red Dot (Boat Ramp) & Red Line (Bird/Duck Feeding Area)....I've fished the Bowl Bank (Green Line). The lake on the Right I've only fished once, has fewer fish but has the bigger fish and 1 of the fish is on my to catch list (Below) "Half Lin"

Tough week in France, Brothers Lake. Weather was all over the place but not really doing anything, light winds going all over the place and temps freezing one minute, warm the next and regardless of that the fish seemed to migrate into the 2ft shallows every night - so odd. Was expecting to smash it on the dam wall in the deeps πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. Stupid fish - anyway ended up with 7 to 45 which I said i'd be happy with before the trip. Nice lake and surroundings, would go again, recommend having 2 anglers although you can have 4. Special thanks to our Yonny for the camera advice, the final pic is my last self take with max blur it really pops, thanks mate, getting the hang of it slowly πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘

  18. If you go carp fishing and catch a 7lb tench have you blanked? Catching other species while carp fishing has put me onto some proper specimens of other species. Catching 10lb bream on carp gear put me onto some big bream, so next session the carp rods stayed at home and I caught 12lb bream. Catching 7lb tench on my carp gear meant I switched tactics and fished for tench and caught a 12lb tench. Carp fishing has also shown me where 2lb roach are, even waters with worthwhile pike. Carp anglers are too snobby, sadly many have no respect for other species.
