Slip D Rig

I've quit on slip D rigsπ 1 bite, one loss, my rods now all have classic spinners on again. π You can't shortcut rig confidence. I've moved and I'm in the right zone, come on the chunky ones.2 points -

Well, the Blood Tests are back and glad to say everything was Normal, no further Medical Action to be taken. It's actually 6months to the day, the incident happened. Now, it's just a case of settling the Claim with my Solicitors.2 points -

Yes I thought of that-its tons cheaper and about the same dimensions (300x275x150)-the doors a bit lame though. I am going to think about that. 200 for a voyager wrap seems a bit OTT for the times you need it!1 point -

Yes I am convinced- Im going for it-otherwise as soon as it rains and gets cold -that will be it for my season! Thank you for being really helpful-I am a noobee to this web site! For the people that buy them I hope they didn't just jazz it up -my R series is an abs ridiculous design. The Bivvy is great-tall and super well made but the design just sucks. There are 3 pram struts all different join lengths joined to one focal point so you cannot cleanly fold like most normal bivvies, you also cant take the poles out of the joins they are stuck tight. It takes 5 mins to put up and at least 15 to put away. Not fun when you are tired. Thanks again for the advice- not definitive but given me the confidence to spend a load of money! And Elmoputney-no doesn't look like that at all-is that your bolt hole-nicely put up though! PS has anyone used the store at Carp.com. I had never heard of them until I started looking for a wrap.1 point -

I think it is more not the time to experiment, that could have been the biggun, or the linear I really want to catch, now my owny concern is whether I put enough bait out earlier, I can hear a fairly decent acoustic band tonight, quite country they played the gambler and they have a girl singer who sounds really good. Would prefer to hear my bite alarm screaming though1 point -

Surely you can't judge a rig by one lost fish???? I've had my best ever season, regularly catching 6 to 8 fish in 8 hour morning or afternoon sessions on a days only water. Although the water is prolific, I've been getting amongst the better fish and managed a brace of 20's a few weeks ago, not bad seeing as I had only caught 2 previously in the last 10 years. The slip D and the Ronnie aren't a mile apart but I prefer the more subtle way you can tweak it to make the last inch flexible and make a more balanced bait. To me, the Ronnie seems a bit too blatant. That said, confidence is key and if you're sat behind rods expecting to lose fish, it can be hard work.1 point -

Best & accurate weather app π
crusian reacted to salokcinnodrog for a topic
So I have to laugh at the BBC weather forecasts on television and on the apps as they have been found to be least correct, often overestimating wind and rain. Personally I use MetOffice and Accuweather most often, and that has changed a bit over the years as I realised how bad Carol Kirkwood and the BBC were getting. Not mentioned is that local ITV (in my case Anglia) seems to predict the weather closer to actual happenings.1 point -
The BBC forecast went horribly wrong when they changed from using the met office to some commercial organisation. TBH, I've almost given up with BBC. I was a staunch supporter until fairly recently, but they seem irrelevant to me now and more so as time goes on. I've been using AccuWeather for years and it seems to be fairly reliable. What is interesting is their rain forecaster which tells you when rain is due to start/stop. It was almost spot on yesterday.1 point

Ever heard of yr.no ?? https://www.yr.no/nb A friend who was a Park Ranger for local council swears by it...1 point -
So, I've just been out in a deluge. Hail, thunder, lightning and everything. Whilst my bivvy coped brilliantly, the issue I had was water coming in under the sides. Thankfully I'm off home later today, but how do you keep your kit dry in those types of conditions? Is there something that will allow you to raise you kit 1-2 inches off the floor to stop the bottom getting soaked?1 point

Stocked in November 2018 at 17lb, and last caught in 2021. We've got a mix of scaly Simmos from early 2018 and 2020, then VS in late 2018, 2021and Front fish in 2023, plus the originals.1 point -
I've just had the best fight of my life, fish was kiting down the res from 100 yards out, it was a long slow plod towards me until about 40 yards, started going again, got it back to about 20 yards and it just went off, the rod went in half with it just charging off, it kept doing this for about 15 20 minutes, every time I gained some it just took off again, I didn't want to tighten the clutch anymore at risk of losing it and the rod was already going in half π€£. I eventually got it into the net and straight away knew it was a chunk π€£ 33lb on the nose!!! Guys i am absolutely buzzing, my adrenaline is going and my hands are still shaking ππ€£ I do have some photos on the dslr too, they came out acceptable to me but still can't get the focus correct. But it don't matter tbh I'm happy with my phone photos and can look back on them ππππ fish has destroyed me π€£π€£π€£ In the middle of the fight my second rod went off, then the third at the same time. Once the fish was in the sling I lifted into the second rod and connected to a fish, starting getting it back but it Bumped off, so drops that rod and lifts into the 3rd rod and landed a little common about 10lb All rods are out the water and I feel done inπ€£ might have a chill tonight then get rods back out early with a fresh lot of bait π1 point
