I think for me my PB really comes down to the fish that mean the most to me. I try and enjoy all captures and I have a few favourites that I have caught over the years, the 17lb pond record was the one that made me become a proper carp angler I think. We had our tactics sussed and we slayed the bigger ones in that pond. We used to freeline dog biscuits right in the edge. Feeding off the smaller ones to create the frenzy, The 26lber I caught from the club lake all those years ago I prebaitied for 2 weeks and that taught me something I have used many times since. To the modern times my goal was a 30lber I nearly did that a few times and caught some cracking high 20s beating my pb a few times before my most recent one which completed that challenge and was a fish I really wanted in the album. That meant a lot but it seemed more fate than effort if that makes sense, i am always working at it week on week so it's not like it's zero effort but i didn't think I was building up to it, it just happened. But for me the fish that meant the most was probably this one a new pb at the time but it was not long after my dad passed away and it just meant so much at the time still does, I noticed someone else caught it a few weeks back and it just made me feel really happy to see it again. Fishing is just great, I love being able to go and relax regardless of if I catch or not, just being there is enough these days, but catching a few along the way makes it the special journey it is. Just enjoy the ride and challenge yourself as you go as you are the only person you need to be better than.5 points -

Yup that’s a shopping list alright… for me it’s got to be Korda Kranks , il blitz some of the Krill I got with some hemp in the blender add a good glug of cloudy kill with handful of dried skimmed milk with porridge oats. Il mix it on the bank if the carp are showing themselves 🤞2 points

In Norfolk you have a very active Pike Anglers Club region who arrange fish-ins, (sometimes with Suffolk region) and boat days. I know that the PAC may seem expensive for a single species 'club', but the money is piped back into pike preservation. With Norfolk, you might get some 'help' or training on handling pike, and be lucky enough to be able to go with someone. I love the whole concept you have on your fishing, it's a real breath of fresh air, and most importantly, the enjoyment you have.2 points -

I'm the same regarding hamidi. Something about him that I've never liked and you've summed it up in one of your words "loudmouth". He thinks he's Something else and as for this contraption he's selling he should be ashamed of himself. Not surprised to hear you say dinton has banned it, Simon who runs it doesn't allow any gimmicks on his waters and good to hear that many more waters have done the same.1 point -
On the subject of braid I use Berkeley whiplash in 0.8mm = 28lb straight through green in colour which fades over time it’s got a round profile which back in the day it never did have never used a shock leader with braid. Always wetted the line and reeled in with the tip sunk underwater if I was able.1 point

Wolf spod opens every time and casts truer, much better than a Spomb, I also rate the tfg airbomb higher than the spomb they are my two preferences anyway or boat if I want real accuracy1 point -

I prefer a shockleader as I did find I could crack-off plain straight braid on a marker rod, and that was big casts on Nazeing, I think about 120metres. I only did it once, the 30lb Amnesia leader went straight on. I was clipped up! For spodding, at the time I was using a separate rod, with leader anyway. Personally, I think it's shorter fishing when hitting the clip straight through that normally causes crack-offs, although a beast or numpty can do it at longer range, and I am that numpty as I can crack-off with my sea gear with a leader. The sudden stop and pressure just above the knot I think is what causes the break. When I got onto the syndicate 3 years ago, I did initially start with separate marker and spod rod, but after finding some lovely far bank features to use as aiming points, felt I could dispense with one rod. It is rare for me to spod on there at much above 70metres, very little long distance fishing needed, so I have had the same shockleader and braid on for 3years. I've played with knots from braid to leader, and came up with an overhand knot on the leader, and a 4/5 turn uni knot through the overhand and up the leader as my 'goto' for all my fishing. I wasn't happy with water knot, nor grinner to grinner.1 point -

Around £175 a pop, but boy are they comfy and long lasting. I've been using Nitehawk, but quality is slipping.1 point -

I refuse to buy camping cooking kit. Camping cooking pans are simply only good enough to reheat ready meals, boil in the bag or warm tinned foods, beans, spaghetti or Staggs etc. I cook proper meals so I need decent pans, a proper frying pan, a real saucepan, and of course bialetti for real coffee. The saucepan is from memory, a milkpan, and I've had that for 15years, nothing expensive, the basic steel version, think it was from Sainsburys. My frying pan is over 20years old, no non-stick, but has been properly seasoned and aged. These decent cooking items don't take up much space, and mean you can cook proper food so much better.1 point -

Problem is the elasticated Method feeder made it from match angling into carp fishing. It took some good anglers pointing out the risks to get the elastic removed on carp versions. I'm debating on Ali Hamidi, he's bugged me personally for years; the aggressive marketing, an article he wrote extrnding a trip and putting angling on a session and himself first over a close family members birthday, the Korda and now OMC loudmouth, as well as his programmes with his small person syndrome. 'Aggressive marketing', I don't like adverts at the best of times, I've gotten cynical over many claims from household brands, be that Flash, Listerine, or fishing tackle brands. One good thing does not make up for years of wrongs, and I won't go anywhere near the analogy used on the other site. Forgiveness for a small error may be given, but there are some no way no how.1 point -
