Well I got the nod today and Iβm in a syndicate for the first time ever. I canβt fish till June tho. Back to pastures old is appropriate as I first fished there when I was 10 so a lot of fish has past under the bridge since then. There was only scrapyards and waste ground then and now hotels and luxurious flats abound itβs very urban fishing. Going to be a Challenge and Iβm looking forward to it.2 points

Chick peas are a good bait. Catapult fairly well. You don't want them too soft, just soaked for 24hour, then boil til if you squeeze they split. You can use tinned as well. If you want to flavour or colour them, add the flavour in while soaking, go with a spice flavour like cinnamon, aniseed or 5drops of is-eugenol.1 point -

We used to use chick peas soaked in whiskey! The carp went mad for them, the club wasnβt happy about whiskey in baits, then nash released the whiskey boilies which were just as good for a while. So many people used it as an additive that they wised up after a season or two.1 point -

Many years ago I used to fish a shallow, clear stretch of river for barbel and after a while, they started to treat sweetcorn with suspicion. I switched to chick peas and then used just about any tin of bean or pea I could find and they all caught! Some of them were a bit bland but any flavouring perks them up and don't forgot the old classic of black eye peas simmered in oxtail soup.1 point -

That sounds like just the sort of bait that Blue would use with his vintage tackle . π1 point -

50 is a funny age for many reasons, got talking to a very old friend who i have not seen in 30 odd years, I'm all like oh hi what you been doing then, turns out she is a fairly high ranking Navy officer done a few tours in Afghanistan which I always thought was land locked? Named a few ships she has helmed whatever that is? currently working in the oil industry jaunting around the world still a Navy reservist, I'm all like playing cool, yeah I'm out in my bivvy in the badlands of Northampton and can still put an 8 hour shift in on a set of ladders lol.1 point -

The plan hasn't worked yet lol, just the rods left to pack up now, i am a little surprised nothing is happening yet with the carp,I've been prepping this spot for a few weeks now and it always looks bang on but I'm never convinced they are turning up, will keep going but might start a plan B π1 point -

Well the night time passed uneventfully, thus far the morning has also passed uneventfully, I just dropped a scoops worth of my mix in the margins and apart from the few whole boilies the rudd pretty much destroyed it in 5 minutes do we think those pesky little monkeys will be doing the same in about 10ft of water out in the pond ? I kind of think they might be, I've done about 8 airbombs on each spot which mean there is probably only 30 whole boilies left on each spot, and as I'm fishing Chods the tench and bream may had those without me even noticing, I'm starting to think crumb might be a waste of time on here, I will have a little top up in a bit, but im sure the bloke fishing over the other side. Must think I am overbaiting noddy π I do often think all other anglers just think I am a noddy anyway lol I usually agree but you have to try π1 point -

Best video of the day on YT bar far a colourisation of Warwickshire it really is striking to see just how much is still the same i knew all the places in this video and most of the buildings are still the same, the river Avon looks even more carpy back then than now. Loads of other good videos on that channel.1 point -
