  2. On my day off I'm often so tired, especially after doing an early after a late, that I will often fall asleep during the day.

  3. ...

    Anyone fishing at the moment?

I only tend to take my bed when the dog or my lad comes, other than that it's a chair... This weekend will be chair, up at 4.30am, off to lake, be a full day sesh.

  5. That sort of shift change should be illegal, I have to do 2-10pm monday to Thursday then 10-6pm just the 4 hours earlier really throws me out of whack, perhaps I should be going for day naps, might be a good idea ๐Ÿ’ก

  6. I believe so. Black Amnesia is softer than clear, and I think that the brown Sensor is more supple than the clear. That could explain why I find knotting coloured lines easier than the same line in clear. I also think that a number of lines from different tackle brands are actually produced in the same factory, some are even the same line just in different packaging. I haven't looked at Tackle Box's line tests for a few years now to compare them.

  7. Fair play mate, you got the right venue for this time of year! Lovely looking carp too. Iโ€™m gonna hit a runs water (in the summer anyway!) and see if I can bank the first fish of 2021 on Monday hopefully, only got 3-4hrs but it only takes a second to get a bite!

  10. Definitely mate, Iโ€™d be on there like a shot given the chance, we may not be able to do overnighters just now, but you could start baiting it and prepping it ready for when you can hit it properly.

    Best hooklink material

These are pretty much my rigs this year top to bottom Bottom bait /wafter stiff rig Gardner 25lb trick link,i might get some 15lb too ๐Ÿ˜ PVA bag rig (smaller krank type hook this year) Bank tackle braid but might get some Gardner braid, I like Gardner stuff at present Pop up multi rig, with whatever coated braid I choose first lol either bank tackle, jelly wire, or ESP tungsten all seem to work fine ๐Ÿ˜‚ Nice and simple stuff ๐Ÿ‘Œ

  12. I guess it depends on the rig you are using them for, I like the stiff rigger hooks for my stiff rigs, these will be similar but maybe with a better point, so a worthwhile investigation to me(or an excuse just to buy some more hooks๐Ÿ˜‚) ๐Ÿค” Also I actually like a twister type hook(not chod) for my multi rigs too I like the squareness and the angle I get with shrink tube lol I suppose if we all used the same thing tackle companies wouldn't last long ๐Ÿ˜‚

  13. They remind me of the old Chod Twisters which I didn't get on with at all. I really like the TrigHammers but I think I'll give the choddy version a miss tbh.

  15. As my current water is not particularly carp friendly, I've been exploring its pike potential with a few trips this year. Over 4 trips a mate and I have had some good fish, pike from 2 to 21lbs, normally a couple each trip, although we did manage a blank between us each day. The mate in question is the friend who managed to catch the twenty I lost last year, really into his fishing now, and enjoying it. Our first pike trip produced 3 to me, and Colin saved a blank with the small jack last knockings. My fish were two around 6lb, and a scrappy 16 with a missing pec. The next trip, Colin managed another couple of jacks, and again I had 3, topped with a 17. The 17 was a bit of a nightmare, not the fish, but the idiot dog walker who as I was unhooking it, got so close to the rod tip, moved it away from his face, and pulled the treble under my nail, more problems unhooking me than the pike. Unfortunately we both blanked next trip, but hey ho. A week later we were back at the venue, after a couple of casts I cast a whole joey mackeral, and within minutes, a finicky take with just a few bleeps and a nodding rod tip, no line pulled out the clip I hit into this beauty at 21lb The smile is very real, only my second ever pike over 20, worthy of a new PB at 21. Chuffed

  16. My late shifts end after midnight, my early shifts start at 7am... we are โ€œexempt from working time directivesโ€ apparently... shifts are between 10-13hrs long, I do 4-5shifts a week. Iโ€™m looking for a new job!

  17. I haven't checked yet but I think once your a member you have to then apply for a night syndicate. Not sure if there is an extra cost or just a waiting list but you can definitely do nights on this one but not anglezarke. Yeah will do sounds good.

  21. Hi Nick I thought it was you that previously said a coloured line was more supple as the dye softened it ? .

  22. I don't know how they got in there but they definitely are even if the website doesn't mention it. My brother and two of his friends have seen them basking in summer and also in the shallow conservation area in spawning season. He's also long time friends with a local tackle shop owner who organises pike matches on anglezarke and there have been numerous mentions of large carp caught from upper rivington reservoir. Looks like I'll just have to put the time in and hope to bag one haha no doubt I'll drag in a few bream first though haha Yeah it's still Southport ticket (SDAA). I joined just recently because they stopped the day tickets on anglezarke so thought I'd start giving this reservoir a go too.

  23. Itโ€™s only a shallow lake and was frozen solid 2 days ago itโ€™s only a small match lake I think the biggest in here is maybe a 20 right time of yr but itโ€™s nice buzzards are around so not much bird life on the water Yay ๐Ÿ˜. Still mint condition and gave a good account for themselves

  25. Barston is closed as they don't want people traveling not sure about lavender but I have no waggler tackle so not really worth it anyhow. other than that there is a few free river spots and the canal at Knowle or Coventry city centre. Was up my mates boat mooring the other week they are on the cov canal get loads of carp in the moorings would be well worth plotting up just outside and doing a few over-nighters, another guy that does a bit up there had a nice 16lb common out on waggler tackle.

  27. Bed chair for a day session? I will do sometimes, otherwise my aqua large beanie unhooking mat, although unwieldy to carry about, makes a cracking beanbag chair! luckily Iโ€™ve not caught a carp since November so I donโ€™t get a wet backside, that would just be uncomfortable!

  28. I do like the trighammers, when I first got them, i was a bit unsure, as I thought they may be a bit too thin in the wire, first session out and I caught an eel that I ended up badly distorting the hook when unhooking the rather lively snake with needlenose pliers, which didnโ€™t settle my thoughts, but I caught a few carp with no problems at all, including a few hairy fights with an animal that got its head firmly buried in one of the few weed beds that sprouted up in the park lake. I had no problems with them at all and am now totally sold on them.

  29. I slightly hate myself for taking a chair + bed on an overnighter, but I can't sit on a bed as it does my back in, but I would probably really dislike myself for taking a bed on a day session ๐Ÿ˜

  35. My wife once twisted all the eyes off a pair of century canon carp rods, snapped a pair of Neville alarms off the bank stick and slashed at the spools of my bait runners cutting all the line to shreds, then tipped the contents of the tackle box into the bin...

  37. I've got nowhere to go carp fishing, everywhere is an hours drive minimum for me so too far unfortunately and most are closed anyway. A canal Perch if you're lucky - I should move down south tbh Good luck to those doing a bit ๐Ÿ‘
